WARNING: HERTRICH NISSAN OF DOVER Hertrich Nissan of Dover replaced the engine in my 2019 Nissan Titan in Dec 2024. Now the valve cover and timing cover gaskets are leaking due to their work, and they refuse to fix it. I spoke with Micheal, the General Manager, who was rude and dismissive. I also wrote directly to owner Fred Hertrich, but he has never contacted me and keeps passing me back to the same manager. They need to do what they say, I called my salesman 10 minutes after I pick the car up to tell him that there was something wrong with the vehicle then I got scheduled to go to the service department to see what it was naturally didn't hear nothing or didn't feel anything. Well, it was a Chevy Tahoe, which or notorious for motor mounts going bad but they had no idea bottom line is they would not fix a somewhat danger situation to drive a vehicle in that condition. I do not recommend Hertrich Nissan for your car sales needs. Not trustworthy in my book!!! And that service department.... pitiful. read more

I had my truck serviced in Newark Delaware for a defective fuel float level sensor. Since the labor cost was so extreme to remove the gas tank I told them to replace the fuel pump while they had it out to attach the float to it. I said I had no problem with spending the extra cost for a new fuel pump. When I picked up my truck they did not replace my fuel pump, only the float sensor. I should of got other quotes before I took it there but I assumed they did good work like my other service dealer. My other vehicle is a Honda. I called other repair shops and they all said that they certainly would of replaced the fuel pump if I asked and even would of stated that before being serviced. So I do not understand how this could of happened and felt that I was way overcharged just to replace the float. I was upset of course, and asked if I could get a partial refund on labor and they said no. So my advice is steer clear. read more

Don't buy or get your car fixed from here. I paid $1700 for my car to be fixed, I drive off the lot and my car shuts up, I take it back in , they tell me oh its another problem that will be 5,000. Why call me and tell me my car is fixed, wait till I pay the $1700 then say its a new issue. Then when I ask for corporate phone number I am told they can not provide me with the number. read more

Made an appt for some recall issues on my '13 Altima two weeks ago. Amber checked me in and was very helpful in facilitating and explaining the work. Of 4-5 recall issues, they resolved all - except for the headlight replacement (which is the main one I came in for) because they didnt have the parts. They had to confirm that headlights failed the test first. It failed and they will be replaced (complete). Now we wait. Amber did not attempt to upsell me anything. Good experience. I cant give more than 4 stars based on (1) interaction, but so far so good. read more

My wife and I purchased a car here. We received a temporary license plate tag until the real one could be delivered. My wife followed up probably 20 times, and the response was the DMV is busy. It is coming. Little did we know that a new temp tag should have been delivered and could have been dropped off before my wife got a ticket for an expired tag. Called the dealership and left message with Jason I believe who is a manager. I am still waiting on his call back. Unfortunately, it is quite obvious they only care about the sale. Once you drive the car off the lot, they do not care at all. You should have seen the reaction from the guy when we said no thanks to the gap insurance. I do not want to speculate as to what sort of commission or benefit he or the company gets when someone purchases it, but we could certainly work on our facial expressions a bit more. People are entitled to do what works best for them. If it means we might pay more in the long run, then that is on us. It should not be any worry to the guy trying to push for the gap insurance. Our car had to be cleaned multiple times before it left the lot too. We ended up cleaning it even more when we got home. I would stay as far away from this place as humanly possible. I would recommend walking, public transportation, or even a horse before going back. Not even worth a call back from leaving a message for a manager. Embarrassing. read more

I first contacted Hertrich Nissan because they had a relatively nice selection of new Frontier pickups. My salesperson Patrick quickly replied with a video of the one I was interested in. His friendly manner and competence as a salesperson really put me at ease through the whole process. The sales manager was also very easy and fair to work with. I enjoyed my experience at Dover location. Whitney was a great Saleswoman with great Customer service. she listened to what I wanted in a vehicle and tried to find it. They handled my trade-in well. She provided listings for me to take home to review. When I returned the next day, she provided me with a road test on the vehicles that I was interested in. I came in to just look. I was having no luck with a competitor after they said I was just trying to get a new transmission for my ford. When I came in I was greeted immediately by Joe. He was very knowledgeable friendly and approachable. He tolerated my constant mind change on color and extras. When I finally decided on my Juke after spending hours with me he hung in there till my loan was approved. On April 26th, 2023, I spoke to a Nissan executive named Brenda Daniels. Brenda advised me to call Nissan to make an appointment and drop my car off at their service department for it to be rediagnosed. Brenda said that doing so would result in no cost to me. She reiterated that the transmission problem needed to be documented. She said that if it was a transmission issue, she would speak to corporate. On May 3rd, Nancy from Hertrich reached out to me to schedule my car for service. On May 8th, I dropped off my car with Amber at Nissan. The next day, I spoke to her and she said the diagnostics were done, and they were waiting for Brenda's response. That same day, I left a voicemail for Brenda inquiring about the status of my car. After not hearing back from her, I called and left another message. On May 12th, Brenda returned my call and confirmed that the transmission was the issue, but corporate wasn't going to cover the cost of a new one. Instead, she offered $1,000 credit towards the repair work. On May 15th, I picked up my car and the copy of the report I was given wasn't legible. When I asked about it, I was told that I would have to contact Amber because she was the one who was working on the report. On May 16th, I went in to get a copy of the report and I talked to the manager and assistant manager, who weren't able to help me. On May 23rd, I met with Brian Shotwell, the manager, of Winner Ford. He answered questions about my car and printed copies of Nissan's Service Campaign Bulletin involving the 2013 - 2014 Nissan Sentra CBT. It clearly shows the diagnostic code for the problems my car was experiencing. Their own campaign bulletin plainly stated that the diagnostic and repair would be performed at no charge for parts and labor. The cost of a Nissan CBT transmission is $4,600. To this date, my car has not been repaired. As I explained to the general manager at Nissan, they need to stand by their product and do what's right. read more

Brought my Mazda CX-5 in to identify and correct a suspension noise that was not a daily occurrence but present for the last several months. Told Matt, the Service Advisor, it occurred with the first forward nose down motion (driveway decline to street) after a cold start Left the car with Matt until he could fix the issue. After 6 days without success, I picked up the car. First thing I noticed, the car was parked nose down. The service manager, think his name was Mike, called the following Monday. After returning his call 3 times over 3 days, I told him of my disappointment and surprise that the car was parked nose down. That after driving the car 1 mile off their lot, to park for 20 mins at another location, upon starting the car in the flat parking lot, with the first forward motion the same noise was very much present. Hertrich Mazda service does not have the diagnostic know how to figure out that the first forward motion and parking the vehicle such that what ever was sliding into place after a cold start was 'in place' while parked nose down. Further to add to their incompetence- brought the CX5 to Preston - Mazda issued a Technical Service Bulletin (no 04-001/19) two years earlier that reads nearly the same as my description of the noise. Issue Resolved - normal noise associated with ABS. No repair needed. One day with Preston -- six days without a car, without resolution and hours on the road driving to Hertrich. If the service advisors and mangers can't even be bothered to stay current on their own Service Bulletins, why would you ever trust them to work on your car? read more

This is my go to dealership for vehicles. Ive gotten about 5 vehicles from here. Each vehicle has been a five star vehicle. The service center on the other hand. Everytime i go for service its always something. This time i went in with a coupon for a $41 synthetic oil change(extremely high to me) . Did i want a tire rotation yes. When i spoke with tech, i was told about wipers, tires and other preventive maintenance. When i went to check out $67 #@%!. WHAT!!!!.. So im upset and now i find out tire rotation is $24 WHAT!!!! Some places its free with oil change.. What was the purpose of the coupon to save me $5 and then add it back on with 19 more. No i dont need no more extra paid as you leave service. He is a really nice guy and I feel like he was very genuine. Not like the typical car salesman. I tried other dealerships but my credit is not the best so I left very disappointed. Took my 2014 Nissan Altima in today to have some warranty work done and have a whining noise investigated. I know there are possible issues with the CVT transmission on this car so I wanted to make sure the noise was not related to the transmission. I was informed that the diagnostics would cost $150, I agreed to have the work done, I was gone for only about a half hour and was told it was not the transmission but it was my front wheel bearings and it would cost over $800 to replace the bearings. They also said I needed to get my front and rear brake pads replaced at another $400 plus for each pair. I feel I was overcharged for the service since I called my local Meineke service center and they said they would not have charged me for the diagnostics that took less than a half hour to perform. I asked the service tech the condition of my CVT transmission and was told it was OK, but all they did was a computer diagnostics. All their pricing is too high, I will not be going back. read more

There isn't a minus number on the rating. I called regarding repair work needed on my Ramada. I paid $4000.00 for the extended warranty just to be told it was invalid due to mileage. I still had 23000 miles to go before I reached the stated limit. I called twice and both times was told the warranty was invalid. I then took it to my local nissan dealer to have the repairs done and only then was told it should still be valid. I called the warranty company and after several calls by me and the mechanic still could not get the work authorized. I started to seek reimbursement since the car was already repaired . They now say i was supposed to take it to hertrick. WHY SHOULD I DRIVE ALL THE WAY TO DOVER WHEN THEY ARE SAYING THE CONTRACT IS NOT VALID! Needless to say i am not being reimbursed after paying $1339.89 for the repairs. I will never purchase another vehicle from them and if you buy the warranty good luck to you. The warranty was $4000.00 and I should have kept the money. I would have still come out ahead agter paying out of pocket. What a lousy dealership and warranty company. Buyer beware. read more

Worst car purchasing experience ever. To start, they allegedly mark up the price of their cars over MSRP. That's why in other reviews their car prices are higher than other local dealers. I continued with the purchase because they had the car I wanted but they refused to budge on the price until I picked up my things and left, then Marcus (dealership manager) chased me out the door. Watch out for him. Their finance department was terrible. No people skills. People talk to you like they think you're stupid. The title clerk spoke to me in a baby voice like she thought I was a child. They will try to sell you extra warranties and will tell you it's "required by law". It's not. That's how shady they are. I left with the car I wanted after they dropped the price but I wouldn't ever purchase a car from here again and don't recommend that you do either. read more

Went in for a possible trade and walked out with so much confusion. Tried to trade in a 2013 Hyundai Elantra Coupe with minor body damage and less than 55,200 miles on it... I was told that they will give me 1500 for a trade... I laughed on my way out. There is no way in hell I would allow anyone to lowball me like that-- then they ask if they can run my credit? why would I allow you to run my credit with such a horrible offer on a car that I didn't really care to much for but might have considered if the deal made sense. Took my car in for its first oil change even though I purchased elsewhere . The service advisor was friendly and polite and went over everything that was going to be done . He even told me the price . After service they wash the exterior of your car . Sure wish they would of dried it as well since I had to get the water spots removed . I kinda felt the price for the service was kinda pricy but I used my 15.00 off yelp check in . The next day I received a call asking how I was satisfied with the service and to please be sure to give Nissan a great review . I brought a new key fob as an extra, but that key did not work. So, the lady offered me a deal on a new key fob that they would do for a discount rat so I wouldn't have to come back. Unfortunately, I though I was getting a new key cut too but all I received was the key fob. So, now I have to get a key to get it cut as well. But all together I loved the service. Just had keys made for my Mazda this weekend. Told me it would take 1 hr to cut and program but took almost 2 hrs because "the technician was new" . quoted me $130 and when the time came to pay it was $147 because of a $17 shop fee? When asked they said it was standard through out DE and that fee was for disposing hazardous waste/material. ??? I'M GETTING A KEY PROGRAMMED! What is there to dispose? Had Audi, Nissan and Toyota keys programmed and all took less that 45 min and with no hidden cost! People I dealt with: Michael Granger, Carson McNeil, Randy the Finance Director. I spoke with Michael Granger through text message about purchasing a NEW Murano SV with the Premium Package. He assured me that they would do everything to get me into the vehicle and that my credit score was NOT a concern. Mr. Granger said that the Murano price was negotiable and that they would also give me up to 130% of my trade in value or throw more money at my trade in if they had to to make the deal work. He also said that they were offering $6,175 off of the Murano. Basically saying that they would reduce the price of the new vehicle and give me more money for my trade in so that I could buy the New Murano SV. I have these text messages saved. When I arrived I test drove the car and then went inside to start the paperwork. They only offered $9K for my vehicle (a joke) and only took $5,500 off the price of the new car. When I brought up what I discussed with Mr. Granger to the sales man Carson McNeil, he acted like I was speaking a foreign language even after I showed him the text messages. This all happened on 2/18 and today I am still without the vehicle even after Wells Fargo approved me and submitted a deal back to Nissan to get me into the car at the payments I requested. I plan on contacting Mr. Frederick Hertrich, III himself to tell him just how bad of an experience this has been and about their "Bait and Switch" tactics and that they need to live up to their word!!! read more

I had my Xterra serviced here. They also replaced a leaking trans cooler line. One week later my my transmission started slipping so I took it to benchmark transmission in Dover where I was told that the trans fluid was so low that it was not reaching the stick.So my bitch is not only do they claim to top off all fluids with service .What kind of qualified serviced technician fixes a leak without checking fluid level.Ok they did fix the leak but the $170 that I paid for that is wasted when my transmission burns out.This is not the first time I had work done here but it is the last. I usually buy my cars at the Nissan dealership in Northern De but since I take my car here for service I wanted to give them a chance . I test drove the car with a very nice salesman. He didn't pressure me at all and knew I was just looking. Everything was going smooth till I decided to get my car appraised and had to deal with Marcus who is in charge of running all the numbers. Don't even bother telling him how much you can afford and what you want your loan term to be. If that doesn't work for you forget it!! They don't care and won't even try to work with you. They are just very shady overall. Never experienced that at the other Nissan dealership . He is extremely unprofessional. You also can't seem to find any other management to assist you. read more

Purchased a pre-owned Nissan Murano and based on my concern with the Nissan CVT drive train opted for an extended (major repair) warranty policy as part of the sale that included a refund if the repair policy was not used. We did not use Hertrich for service after the sale and I never heard from them until I made contact regarding the issue below. I mistakenly thought the repair policy was coterminous with the loan and missed the date to request my refund. You would think that they would know whether the policy had been used or not and would have been pro-active in contacting me and returning my $1400 dollars. Escalating through the policy provider, Hertrich and Nissan did no good. Very displeased with this dealership and would not recommend them. read more

Today I had an oil change/tire rotation appointment at 2:30. I arrived a few minutes early and I had to bring my 9 month old. When I walked in there was an older man sitting behind a computer and he never spoke to me to see if I was checking in or anything so I waited. When the next man came in he didn't greet me or anything he just asked if I had the Mazda and asked if my keys were in the vehicle. I said no and showed him my keys in my hand, he took them and proceeded to go outside. He didn't tell me if I was to wait for him to come back or go to the waiting room so I just stood awkwardly as I watched him talk to someone outside and then look around my car. When he came back in he still didn't say anything to me just went to his computer and began typing. So finally I asked him if he needed anything else from me and he said I needed to sign a document once it printed. So I did that and he asked me if I was waiting with the vehicle..yes, so he told me to help myself to the waiting room. 2 hours later my car was ready, I paid, and then once I went to leave I noticed my car was still dirty..they forgot the complimentary car wash that I agreed too and signed for initially, so I had to go back inside and wait yet again..by myself it might not have been so annoying but I had a bored and restless 9 month old to deal with. Needless to say I will be finding somewhere with better customer service and faster turn over time. read more

A few years ago, while still living in Delaware, my husband bought a new Pathfinder here. His buying experience was wonderful, and because he was interested in trading in his Pathfinder to get a truck, he decided to drive from out of state to go back. He had found the truck on Hertrich's website listed for around $34,000. He spoke multiple times to their internet sales rep who was incredibly nice and repeatedly told my husband to ask for Andrew (I think that was the name) or Marcus. When we arrived, immediately upon parking one of the salesman was already waiting outside of my husband's car door before he even opened it. My husband politely asked for Marcus or Andrew saying he had already spoken to someone on the phone, knew exactly what he wanted, and had his numbers worked out and just needed to talk to them and test drive the car. The sales rep, who admitted to being new and very green, had very little idea of what he was talking about. My husband continued to ask to speak to one of the managers, and the sales rep told him "they were too busy", despite the internet sales rep telling us only 20 minutes before arriving to ask for one of the managers because they were available and ready to talk. We told the sales rep we only had an hour to spend there, as we had driven from out of state and we needed to get to talking numbers, and he continued to waste our time. He said since we wanted to trade our Pathfinder in, they would need the key to inspect both the interior and exterior of the vehicle. My husband agreed and a few minutes later we see someone DRIVING our car out of the parking lot. We 100% never gave permission for that. We were nearing the 45 minute marker before the sales rep even got to talking about test driving, mostly because my husband was persistent as he didn't want to waste time. After the test drive the sales rep told us the "best price" they could do was $2,000 MORE than what the truck is listed for on their website, and he was basically just trying to get us to sit down and not leave. My husband told him that we had to leave and that he would like someone to call him to talk about the numbers. The sales rep told him multiple times to "take a seat" - which, if we're being honest, is so rude. He was flat out REFUSING to give my husband back his car keys, which my husband asked for multiple times. Instead of giving us our keys to so we could leave, he said please don't go yet, I will get one of the managers to speak to you. Why couldn't he have done this an hour ago? Marcus came out very show-boaty and was trying to go over the numbers. He explained to Marcus that we had told the sales rep we had a limited amount of time which he wasted, and we had to leave. My husband kept asking for the car keys and Marcus would put his hand up as if to say "hold on" and ask about "how much my husband wanted for trade in". We told him we had talked to the sales rep about all those things and just wanted our keys to leave. My husband asked for our car keys back over five times. They are OUR keys, not the dealership's to keep from us. We could not believe the treatment that we received. We were literally being held hostage, our own keys being kept from us.
