Representing 2021 in alphabet series is H is for Herr Foods. My parents & I visited on Monday, December 27, 2021 when I was in Lancaster at Christmastime. We went down here to look at the Christmas light display as well as look at the store and explore the area in general. Store was nicely laid out with chips & souvenirs. I bought multiple unique chips, which were good prices. Cashier was friendly. Christmas lights were cool too. read more

We toured the factory a short while ago. Don't expect bargains in their store. Maybe a couple. But people were making tour reservations and canceling so they charge $8 a person now when before it was free. But the tour's bigger they opened more areas. 10/18/21 While at Sheetz this Saturday, I picked up two bags of Herr's Cheese Curls. I have had these before, bit I don't remember the taste of them right now. I was very hungry at the time, but resistant the temptation of eating them until I had a decent meal at home. Today is now Tuesday and I will be tasting this snack. Well I can say I definitely taste the salt in this soft cheese curls. Yes, they do melt in your hand if given the chance. You might ask "Don't you love it, don't you love it?" I would say "No, I ain't happy yet, But I'm way less sad" You would respond by saying "You're so insane, you're so insane (ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah) Shut up and just enjoy this feelin" Hey!, "I may be wrong, I may be wrong It's stupid but it's all I have...to eat now." Nevertheless, this will be my lunch for now, and I might eat some more of these cheese curls throughout my break. Yes, I am way less sad and hungry now. I purchased 2 bags of peanut butter pretzels from local store in Illinois and the product was burnt. I contacted company and have gotten the run around since. I mean the product should have been caught before leaving factory, good work! The rep had sent a couple coupons for replacement bags, but no local stores will honor them and most stores around here do not sell their products. I asked for them to ship 2 bags to replace their product and no answer after 5 days. How do you deal with a company that will not stand behind their products, BUY AMERICAN. read more

While visiting up East, I had the opportunity of taking the Herr's Factory tour. If I lived near here, I think my diet could consist of their many kinds of potato chips! The tour was about 45 minutes long, and it started with a brief film. After that, the guide took the group to actually watch the products being made. Granted you were looking through glass, but it was really interesting. The guide was very nice and willing to answer any questions. The best part of the tour: fresh, hot potato chip samples... right off the line!! SO GOOD!! And for going on the FREE tour, you get a bag of chips at the end. But in case that's not enough chips for the day, they also have a gift shop that sells all of their products. Highly recommended: buying "Oops" bags and trying their many, and diverse, flavors on the cheap (e.g. Ketchup-flavored chips, "grilled cheese" cheese puffs, jalapeno chips). read more

We love the Herr's potato chip factory. This is a twice a year destination for us. We come once in the summer for the factory tour and once at Christmas for the light show. Everyone is always nice and professional. Plenty of free chips during the tour and even two sample bags for each person to take home. We love the "oops" section of the store. The tour is better when you have a lot of people that ask questions as you find out many interesting facts that the guides don't always tell you. read more

Looking for a fun and educational activity for my 7 yo daughter, I googled and found the Herr's free factory tour. I headed toward the factory and made a phone call to see if we could get on the tour that day. The lady offered me three options that afternoon and we took the earliest one and were on our way. It was a nice country drive out to the factory and once we arrived at the factory we were pleased with the colorful fun entrance and gift shop. The tour started with a ten minute video in a cool air conditioned theater and then we were called by groups (we were cheese curls) and on our way. The 20-30 minute tour is guided by a friendly expert who patiently lead our group and showed us the process of making pretzels, potato chips, tortilla chips, and popcorn. We walked through the glass covered walkways and enjoyed seeing all of the machines rolling, churning, chopping, and plopping dough. It was extremely interesting and my daughter really enjoyed it. The highlight was tasting some hot fresh chips our guide procured for us directly off of the production line. This was a great activity and made for a nice memorable afternoon. They topped it off by handing us a bag of chips on the way out. Thanks Herr's...it was all that...and a bag of chips! read more

For a free tour, Herr's did a damned amazing job. This factory tour and visitor's center was neat, the staff was super friendly, you got to learn all about the amazing feats of creative engineering that have improved the chip-making process throughout the years, and they even let you eat chips hot off the conveyor belt. Wow! You'll even learn how to correctly pronounce "Herr's", if you're a new-england-to-new-york transplant like me and you don't already know. Don't forget to grab a "flawed" bag on your way out for an awesome discount. If there's one thing they could have done better, it'd be getting a better mascot than their dumb squirrel. read more

Bought large jar of sourdough pretzels from dollar general and they are burnt ! Bought same last year and they were great !What happened ?

Went with my wife and three kids (8, 5, and 12 months). It was well worth it, and I recommend going to anybody within 75 miles. The tour is perfect, especially for those with children. It has enough to keep their attention, long enough so everyone can get a good feel about the factory process, but not too long to make kids antsy. While we were there we saw the dough that pretzels are made of cruising down the conveyer belt, we saw popcorn being seasoned, we saw tortilla chips going down shoots, and of course the potato chips where you get to taste some fresh (and still warm!) off the assembly line. They of course have a gift shop to buy Herr's t-shirts, coffee mugs, etc. There is also a food stand there which sells hot dogs, corn dogs, burgers, and stuff like that. It's not very good, but mostly for kids. It is also at a fair price, corn dogs were $2.00. It is a great and fun way to spend a summer afternoon with the kids. The tour is free, low key, and still fun. read more
