Working with Hermes on our landscaping project was great, start to finish. We spoke to several landscapers about the backyard project for our new home but chose Hermes and we're very glad we did. Alfonso came to our home and we were immediately impressed by his professionalism. He asked lots of questions and he listened. He came back the following week with a landscaping plan that incorporated everything that we asked for and at a reasonable price. Work started about a week later and the guys that did the hard work were impressive, too. They were conscientious and courteous. They cleaned up their work area and stored their equipment each evening before they left. Even our neighbors were impressed. Everything looks great and is exactly like the plan. This was just phase 1--we'll be calling Alfonso in the spring for phase 2! read more

This company services our community that we pay out HOA fees to, after a second home with a local builder it is clear the selection of this company was most likely due to their low prices. I assume this because of the lack of quality service we routinely experience, from miscommunications to an overall half ass effort. Our community has had home and property damage during mowing and edging, forgetting to completely mow or shovel snow, leaving mounds of snow for the city to deal with that leave you potentially stuck as you can't back out. Inattentiveness to irrigation and water on sod that are wasteful and need a second redo. Landscaping with zero edging for landscaping and mulch, that's plain half ass. I would have to assume that this company enjoys frequent complaints and having to do something twice rather that once correctly from the service they provide. Go with a local small business instead that can give your home quality attention. read more

I have worked for 3 businesses that used these guys. Have had problems with them mowing and throwing clippings at my car. I asked them to throw clippings away from the car to avoid rocks etc from being thrown at my car and they acted offended. At my current employer they broke a pilon in my parking lot while doing snow removal. I talked to the driver at the time he broke it and I called them twice before they sent a supervisor to look at. He said no problem they'd fix it. Two months later they called to collect payment for services. They seemed to be totally unaware of of the situation and have still not resolved it. Avoid these guys. Go with a small business owner who will provide better service. read more

I have had Hermes do landscaping about 20 years ago at another residence. I needed a update on my current residence. The designer came out and received my view of what was wanted. A review of the design was made several months later and after several changes were made to the design and it was approved. Due to other scheduling by Hermes and comments from the designer I was able to get the new landscaping put in. The installer were really great to work with and did an outstanding job. read more

I met them at the Home and Garden Show. I had some ideas for my yard. Those ideas were very limited by my imagination. When I met with the Landscape Architect I started telling him these ideas. And when I was done he asked me, what do you want to do with your yard? And that moment changed everything. I wanted my backyard to be my private escape. I wanted lots of trees and some special features. He took this conversation and put it on paper. Their crews made it reality. They are talented and do beautiful work. We contacted Hermes to help with part of our lawn that needed replacement. Keith did an excellent job explaining what they could do and how much the project would cost. Their workers were excellent and provided a great looking lawn for us. Update: I still say the men who did the installation were great and did a good job. However, once the lawn was installed, and I paid them, I had some questions about the lawn. I have not gotten a response from Hermes at all in the last week. Apparently, once they get their money you are not worth talking to anymore. Sorry to update this rating, but people need to know that customer service is nonexistent once they get the check. read more

I called their residential dept. to ask about buying some sizable Greenspire Linden trees for our backyard, & from that time on received nothing but superior service. Within 24 hrs they looked at their inventory & said my husband & I could come to see what was available & choose the trees. We looked & picked out the trees that same day & was notified by the crew supervisor that the trees would be planted 48 hrs later. The three men who planted them also did an outstanding job. They knew exactly what needed to be done but also asked our opinion before beginning to do the planting. All three worked equally, continuously until planting was completed & the clean-up afterwards was impressive--- the yard area & street area where the trees were unloaded. Also later I had called to see if the trees should be staked-- ours had not been. The crew supervisor called me that same Fri to leave the message that they'd return to do it first thing the following Mon morning & they did. So I can honestly say that every person I/we spoke with was very professional, knowledgeable, courteous and the "follow-through" left nothing unanswered. I also can say with no hesitation that getting these trees was better than getting any new piece of furniture--- should last a lifetime. I was in need of a replacement BBQ grill which was a built in as part of our backyard hardscape. I contacted 3 BBQ dealers at the local home show as well as Hermes which had a display with a grill shown. Hermes was the only contractor from the home show that called me back and the rest is history. They came, they measured, the removed the old grill and installed a new grill in less than a month. They cleaned up and left us with a product we use almost daily. Good job, good service. The sales rep was present during the installation and followed up to make sure everything was working properly. I had a very large upgrade that needed done on my sprinkler system that is 17 years old. Keith came out listened to what we needed, walked the lawn with me, took a few minutes and had a plan drawn up. I needed the sprinklers done before I could finish everything else so it was a big need. I had called several other companies with no return calls. They were able to get started within a week of our initial meeting. My lawn is established and manicured, the thought of adding 5 new stations that had to be completely wired made me nervous. The crew was amazing. I would look and have huge holes in my yard and then the sod was back and you had to really look to know it was even disturbed. At the end of each day nothing was left undone. It was as if my yard was complete each day. When they were done, the crew chief walked with me through every station,all 13 now, and tweaked each head to make sure all my yard and landscaping was covered. After he was finished the design architect came out to reassure everything was well and went over the new controller again to make sure I was comfortable with using it. It was a great experience and I would recommend any sprinkler job to Hermes! read more
