It was a quiet Sunday and…read morealthough I had no intentions of hanging out here, Foley Park was a good spot to simply sit down on a bench and relax. In fact, a lot of people were passing through the park so it was a beautiful day outside to sort of "people watch". Foley Park or this Centennial Plaza is located right off the main road while driving through Foley. Well, just to back up a little...the real reason I was visiting Foley was to have lunch at famous...Lambert's Cafe, where I hear they're known for throwing rolls all over the place and serving vintage southern fried food and catfish. I was excited to go to Lambert's. The only problem was when I arrived at Lambert's, the line to even put my name down on the wait list extended out to the front door. Ugh, what a disappointment. So...I decided to return to Lambert's later on in the day. And that's how I discovered this Centennial Plaza/Foley Park. Just needing a place to hang out for a little, this Foley Park was ideal to walk around and take it easy. When I visited here back in autumn, the weather was perfect and I actually appreciated sitting down on one of the many benches while taking a step back and simply chilling out. Hopefully, eventually, Lambert's would settle down a little and then I could return. I actually spent about two hours here at Centennial Plaza and enjoying the setting and cozy surroundings of the park. It was a pleasant way to break up my Sunday. Unfortunately when I left here and returned to Lambert's Cafe, the line was still very long and pretty unbearable to wait out. Too bad. In the end, I never got to sit down and eat at Lambert's. And for me being from South Florida and along my cross country road trip, I knew I wasn't returning here to Foley anytime soon. Well, still, I'd just like to point out how I liked my time spent here at Centennial Plaza/Foley Park. This was a cool spot I discovered on a whim and basically hanging out here, walking around and casually taking a seat on a bench was a good way to pass the time regardless of whether I got to eat at Lambert's or not. Although this park is just your typical quiet, public venue in the heart of Foley, I'd like to give it some recognition and a positive mention.

The park is named for Vince Whibbs. He was the mayor of Pensacola from 1978 to 1991. He they have a nice statue of him at the end of the park. Unfortunately there were no Sunday concerts due to Covid but 2021 is looking good. The Vince J. Whibbs, Sr. Community Maritime Park is a multi-use, public-private park development on Pensacola's waterfront. The Randall K. and Martha A. Hunter Amphitheater overlooks beautiful Pensacola Bay. The amphitheater part of the park supports a covered stage a "Back of House" facility that supports two dressing room spaces, & grass seating for up to 5,000. It really is picturesque sitting on that grass with breezes coming off the bay and digging the music, very nice indeed. While I am very fond of the concerts there's a lot more going on in this well laid out, well maintained and highly functional park. The Rotary Centennial Playground is great for kids ages 5-12 and includes climbing structures and more for them to explore and play. The walking path around the water makes the park perfect for working out, biking and running or if you're just looking for a looking for a place to walk that had enough room for social distancing and was by water, this is a great choice. Hey, love to fish? Well you can do that at the park too! Because the park is on the waterfront, it makes a nice place for fishing, there's even a fishing peir. It's also right next door to the Blue Yahoo stadium, the AAA team for the Cincinnati Reds. I know there's a bigger connection to the Yahoo's but not sure what that's about. Let me close by talking about our last concert in 2019. We roll up with our picnic, chairs and coolers and get hit with a little Memphis rockabilly. Wait I just left Memphis and I'm in Florida. LOL But it was really good and everyone was in to it. There was a very nice crowd, very nice people and there's free water and there's a Greek food truck set up on the edge of the concert area at the top of the hill. Somebody slap me LOL Very important note: The great folks at Blues Angel Music put on the free concerts and people are offered a chance to buy raffle tickets for some really cool musical instruments and other nice stuff. They do this to raise money for their foundation that provide musical instruments for schools and those in need, big kudos to those guys. Music has been VERY big influence in my life and I support this effort, it's a pretty big deal! Bottom line: Our last show was rockabilly but there's other genres of music represented by the water at Maritime Park!! You can bring a chair, your cooler and the parking & the admission is free. It's really cool and highly recommended for this weekly family friendly fun outing for your Sunday. We also ran up on a baby cotton mouth on the trail, so keep your eyes open! I think there is public parking available on mobile st so you wouldn't have to hike the full way to get to the beach. I didn't know this until afterwards.

FYI Big Fat Cats hang out around here, so bring cat food. You can rent the pavilion for parties by calling the number listed on the sign. Pavilion has a power outlet to plug in plus the sink near the BBQ's. No pets, food, or drink allowed in the kids play area. Park has public restrooms & drinking fountain two small parking lots near playground & pavilion. Volleyball Court, baseball diamond, & community center also in this park. Park is pet friendly, dogs allowed with the exception of the gated off kids area. Open from dawn to dusk. Larger parking lot near community center.

My only gripes are that the sign for Cadillac Square is very much not well thought out as we had no clue exactly what was trying to be conveyed. I had to park the car and look up the history of the area to actually understand what was trying to be said. Also, information on the park is located right in front of the bathrooms. We were not able to get out and read it as we had to catch the ferry, but I think the location of it should change. You would only catch it if someone in the group had to use the bathroom. They should place it more central or right in front of the sign for the square. The only true highlight for my sister and I were the trees because it's interesting to us that they have been growing/around for so long.

I came with my dog. Awesome place, has outhouses instead of permanent restrooms. There are three large pavilions with concrete picnic tables and benches. The largest pavilion near the entrance has electric outlets so you can plug something in, plus it is nice and sturdy, good place to hide from the rain. There are also three BBQ pits here for a cookout. Nice place.Boat Ramp Open 24 hours. FYI ALLIGATORS ARE IN THE AREA, THERE ARE NO SIGNS POSTED, BUT THERE ARE ALLIGATORS, SNAKES,AND BULL SHARKS IN MOBILE BAY. Also, Mobile Bay is very shallow, no diving recommended.

First time checking out this state park out and wasn't sure what to expect as we are visiting the…read morearea but it was great. Admission was $6 for out of state cars. Lots of boardwalk areas combined with well maintained sand trails, nice picnic areas and bathrooms along with camping areas. We just stopped in to hike the 3.5 mile loop. We followed the trails which for the most part are well marked but realized somehow even though we were on the main sand trails we weren't on the loop that the ranger told us to follow so it's not hard to get off target. Your phone GPS combine with the provided map proved to be the best solution for us. Peaceful trails, nice bathroom facilities and scenery combined with wildlife made for a great two hour excursion.
