This is a small park with extremely limited parking. Still, it has its charm and was a good place to chill for a bit. That's an added plus, the water view is pretty cool, as well. The park is named for Vince Whibbs. He was the mayor of Pensacola from 1978 to 1991. He they have a nice statue of him at the end of the park. All in all, I'm going to give this small park four stars. read more

We discovered this gorgeous park last year and made it there to some great free concerts put on by, my new favorite music store, Blues Angel Music. Unfortunately there were no Sunday concerts due to Covid but 2021 is looking good. The Vince J. Whibbs, Sr. Community Maritime Park is a multi-use, public-private park development on Pensacola's waterfront. The Randall K. and Martha A. Hunter Amphitheater overlooks beautiful Pensacola Bay. The amphitheater part of the park supports a covered stage a "Back of House" facility that supports two dressing room spaces, & grass seating for up to 5,000. It really is picturesque sitting on that grass with breezes coming off the bay and digging the music, very nice indeed. While I am very fond of the concerts there's a lot more going on in this well laid out, well maintained and highly functional park. The Rotary Centennial Playground is great for kids ages 5-12 and includes climbing structures and more for them to explore and play. The walking path around the water makes the park perfect for working out, biking and running or if you're just looking for a looking for a place to walk that had enough room for social distancing and was by water, this is a great choice. Hey, love to fish? Well you can do that at the park too! Because the park is on the waterfront, it makes a nice place for fishing, there's even a fishing peir. It's also right next door to the Blue Yahoo stadium, the AAA team for the Cincinnati Reds. I know there's a bigger connection to the Yahoo's but not sure what that's about. Let me close by talking about our last concert in 2019. We roll up with our picnic, chairs and coolers and get hit with a little Memphis rockabilly. Wait I just left Memphis and I'm in Florida. LOL But it was really good and everyone was in to it. There was a very nice crowd, very nice people and there's free water and there's a Greek food truck set up on the edge of the concert area at the top of the hill. Somebody slap me LOL Very important note: The great folks at Blues Angel Music put on the free concerts and people are offered a chance to buy raffle tickets for some really cool musical instruments and other nice stuff. They do this to raise money for their foundation that provide musical instruments for schools and those in need, big kudos to those guys. Music has been VERY big influence in my life and I support this effort, it's a pretty big deal! Bottom line: Our last show was rockabilly but there's other genres of music represented by the water at Maritime Park!! You can bring a chair, your cooler and the parking & the admission is free. It's really cool and highly recommended for this weekly family friendly fun outing for your Sunday. This is a great location right by the water. What a nice addition to the city! On a slightly chilly and windy day I strode the trails with my Patti's beignets and really enjoyed my time. The air was fresh with the breeze, the sun was playing and people were about stretching, running and playing with their kids. Parking is abundant. The Park is clean with plenty of receptacles. It will go on my "stolling about downtown P'cola" list. read more

Wonderful place for an afternoon walk or run! I jogged here this afternoon. Would come here regularly if I lived here. Beautiful views from every place in the park. There is a great playground for kids and also an adult fitness area. There are restrooms and water fountains in an area near the back of the stadium. Absolutely lovely park on the water. This Review is solely about the Bathrooms next to the Children's play park-NOTHING ELSE! Took my kids for the first time to the Community Maritime Park to play because I had heard such wonderful things about it. Well, of course "I have to go to the bathroom" came up, so we proceeded to the bathrooms located near the play park, under the stadium seating in the brown outcropping of the building. The "Family Restroom" was wide open, however dirty as anything....but we were desperate. Well, I should've checked the bathroom better before going, because guess what?! NO TOILET PAPER, unless you count the wet, wadded up piles here and there on the shelf above the toilet and the massive amounts wadded up in the garbage can. And NO PAPER TOWELS. Both were empty! So now what do you do? Well, I tried going the "bidet/washing" method with the sink, to no avail.....now what....? Maybe we could make it to one of the regular restrooms next to this one? Yeah, NOPE. They were both LOCKED. And the Janitor's closet was situated in between the "Family Restroom" and the "Women's Restroom". (And yes, I even tried to open the men's room-cuz when you gotta go, you gotta go!) All if my efforts were in vain. So, I had to pack up some...."messy"...children and myself and leave immediately, because I did a short scout around to see if there were ANY other restrooms close by, to no avail. This was the most disgusting trip to a park I've EVER had to endure. Thank goodness we live close, because we raced back home to clean up. My question to the owners of the Blue Wahoos Stadium/Community Maritime Park is, if you're going to have a children's park that's open EVERY DAY of the year, and you have restrooms next to said park, WHY are the 2 main ones closed and locked, leaving only a singular restroom that was SEVERELY LACKING in restroom supplies and cleanliness?! The City spent enough money on making this "Gem of Pensacola", they forgot to figure in some janitorial staff's salary to properly clean and stock the restrooms next to a kids park? Who planned this? I haven't personally experienced a Baseball game here yet (because I don't like Baseball), however I have experienced other activities at the stadium and am disappointed that the restrooms were in this condition. Purely disgusting. **UPDATE** Not 100% sure if the Park belongs to the Wahoos Stadium since it is situated so close, or if it is a separate entity owned by the City/County; either way, if it's NOT owned by the Stadium, then shame in the Parks & Recreation Department for not having restrooms available to use, forcing people to use the Stadium's. If it IS owned by the Stadium, then shame on y'all for only having ONE restroom open and available, but left in such a disgusting state! No matter which way you look at it-something needs to be done about it! read more

Our son LOVES this little park! He always has a blast on the slide, the large spinning disk, and his favorite thing to do is run away from everyone! We always find him sneaking away to the baseball stadium next to the park. read more

So this review is for the park behind the stadium. Many reviewers seem to have left reviews for the nearby Blue Wahoos Stadium under this title. Don't get me wrong, this place is close, as it is right beyond the seating areas in right field. But it is an attraction in and of itself. The park has a large green area leading up to a covered stage. The ground slopes up giving it a wonderful amphitheater feel. We saw a concert there last night and were easily able to see the stage from the perimeter. Was nice to spend the evening on a blanket with a picnic dinner listening to fine live music from the stage with a sea breeze blowing by. As the name suggests, the bay comes right up behind the stage and you can watch large sailboats coming in and out of the little channel there. Quite relaxing. Now what else makes this a great park is that there is a very modern playground on the other side of the hill. It was designed with ages 5 and up in mind, with some climbing walls, spider webs of rope, and large rings to crawl through. As my little boy was traversing it, I couldn't help but think he was an American Ninja Warrior contestant. With some help my 2 year old even was able to have a good time on the play structure. This is important when you want to have an adult evening and cannot find child care. I think next time I come to a Wahoos game with the kids I will let them burn off some energy here first! All in all an excellent use of waterfront space that the whole community can enjoy! read more

The Pensacola Community Maritime Park is home to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos baseball team. I took my family a few weeks ago, and we absolutely enjoyed everything. The baseball game was great, as well as the stadium. It has an amazing view of the bayside. This park also features an amphitheater, which will house future concerts/activities. read more
