It's a nice family park in gulf shores with great facilities. The city is always hosting events here.

We had aa great dinning experience on the deck of the new restaurant SAFARI AND VINE overlooking…read morethe zoo. The weather was perfect and doing happy hour drinking with awesome appetizers, hearing the sounds of the zoo animals, and watching monkeys play was a very pleasant experience. The meals were equally high quality and very tasty. Happy hour stops at 5:30 so come early and enjoy the ambience of being in nature enjoying life with friends.

An absolutely PERFECT sized zoo, especially for three kiddos under four (i.e. very short attention…read morespans)! We went on a Tuesday during spring break, and there was plenty of parking and no line for tickets. The tickets and add-ons (carousel, turtle and giraffe feedings, sloth encounter) were very reasonably priced. My oldest (3) rode the carousel multiple times; it was her favorite part of our visit. We also participated in the giraffe feeding, which lacked some organization, but otherwise was a cool experience. There are two playgrounds, one on each end of the zoo. Unlike any other zoo I've ever visited, you could get incredibly close to the animals, especially the lions. The green python put on a captivating show while we all watched, mouths agape. We witnessed a heron (?) savagely attacking a giant frog (see my pictures and video) in the lemur island area. The on-site restaurant, Safari & Vine, is FABULOUS. The menu has a broad array of global options for any palate. My husband and I were both talked into the SHARK burger (sustainably fished and blended with pork), which I wouldn't order again, but had to try once (it was lean like a turkey burger). Can't say enough good things!
