Having worked in a customer service role one way or another for almost 30 years, much of it in the finance world. I appreciate great service. This branch nails it. Wendy Calhoun - a personal banker at this branch walks on water. I had some accounts that needed servicing with my mom, Wendy recognized my mom from last being in over a year ago, Wendy greets my mom by name and gives her a big hug! Wendy on another visit helped us work out a "home office" snafu. My wife and I had some accounts to service as well, and personal banker Sarah Singleton came to the rescue with great professionalism. Another accounts person, Ray, totally steps in to help out with a great smile. Nina is, I believe the branch manager? Warm, efficient, she helped me on the phone with a issue with great professionalism. She also greats customers at the door! The tellers are great too. Bit of backstory - I never had Chase Bank before moving here to Washington. I have had the same…read moresmall chain bank back in Michigan that I have had the last 30 years (my entire life) and the same credit union I had been a member of for 10 years. I was SUPER nervous about signing up for a big-name bank like Chase, but because my bank and credit union didn't have branches here, I also didn't want to pay mega service charges every time I needed cash. I signed up online and I'll be honest - Things did NOT start well. I got to Washington and immediately needed to deposit a check but when I came into this branch, they had no record of my account (although I had already deposited $200.00 online so I'd have a bit waiting for me). Turns out it was my own darn fault - I was supposed to bring my drivers licence into a local branch within a week of signing up and when I didn't, they put my account on "hold". Thankfully, the ladies here were ABSOLUTELY wonderful and came up with solutions for me to be able to quickly deposit my check, pay my rent right away, and get me set up properly. I have nothing but good things to say about them - I've run into a few issues since then but I always go into this branch and they take care of me.

I've banked with Wells Fargo for 23 years - not that they care. After previously being disappointed…read morein the branch by South Hill Mall in a different matter, I walked into this office yesterday to try to open an estate account to handle my deceased mother's affairs. I've spent almost 4 months getting the proper paperwork in order. I waited a short time for a banker to assist the couple in front of me. It was a short time because she wasn't actually able to help them, but sent them out the door saying they needed to bring back something else. When it was my turn, I presented the paperwork sent to me by my attorney. In turn, she sent it over to their legal department to check to see if it was "sufficient." (Really? Opening accounts is your job but you don't know what you need to open an account? But...okay.) she then had to call them to see if the documents were okay. I had presented the death certificate, Letter of Administration, EIN number, and of course, all my identification. I was told that I would also need a letter of probate. News flash: the Letter of Administration serves that purpose! Their crack legal team should have known this. But my greatest source of frustration was that the banker didn't CARE that she was unable to assist me. No apology to me, and no apology to the customers ahead of me that she also sent out the door without helping. Contrast this experience with the one I had today at Umpqua Bank where the lady who greeted me immediately knew my paperwork was in order, and their Relationship Banker who actually expressed her condolences for the loss of my mother before assisting me with my needs. I will be pulling the rest of my business from Wells Fargo and hope to never darken their door again. Between the bankers at WF and their crack legal department, it's no wonder they've been plagued with so many class action suits. For further details of my experience at Umpqua, see my 5 star review of the branch at Meridian and 176th.
