Customer service here is atrocious. I had to repeat myself multiple times to several workers that I did not have a debit card to make a deposit, and was told to just "go to the ATM". I was also told that I could not deposit a check written out to me and my partner because it needed two signatures (sure, that is understandable)..the weirdness began the staff member started mentioning title fraud and insurance deposit fraud. Those two issues have absolutely nothing to do with me, and even remotely insinuating I would be committing fraud of any sort was extremely tacky, and uncomfortable. There is no reason to mention fraud to me, when my check was written out to me and I provided my enhanced driver's license as proof of identification. I will never be returning to this branch, and was never treated like a criminal attempting fraud at the Kirkland branch. I will also be taking my banking elsewhere and will be promptly closing my account at another location. I initially chose BECU because I wanted to support a local company, but my experience was embarrassing and horrible. I bank with a major brokerage company, and they on the other hand have never treated me this way, and are always professional and courteous, unlike the staff member Terri R at this branch. read more

BECU constantly fails their "valued" customers DAILY by mismanaging fraud situations and restricting access to your own money. I have been hung up on countless times in one day (today) while simultaneously getting told something different from each rep I spoke with on the phone. This is the same poor experience I receive anytime I need assistance with my checking account, savings account, and/or debit card etc. It is a NIGHTMARE to get access to MY funds. This should be illegal. I have a painful + debilitating medical condition and am unable to get my medications due to the BECU reps failing to assist me and give me the CORRECT information. The unprofessionalism and corruption at BECU should be reported to the government as it seems the way they manage customers' money is not legal. The worse customer service I ever dealt with!!!! Every CSR I have talked to has told me I have done everything that's needed with my auto loan and account and every other month they call with an issue!!! Just so they can charge me a late fee or 2!!! I think their main objective is to make all your banking issues harder on you!!! I had direct deposit set up for my auto loan as told by BECU, which I got the routing number and account number directly from a CSR and I was told my payment would be taken out and I wouldn't have to worry. Haha!!! Called yesterday to tell me I'm late and I have a late fee BUT I have enough money that been deposited into my bank account at their facility, BECU, to cover 2 payments!!!! Wtf!!!! I hate this bank!!! Do not bank here!!! They are terrible!!!! They do not care about you, they are just setting you up to pay their fees and late fees and whatever else they can get you for!!! This use to be a friendly neighborhood bank where you could count on the bank to help you. I have a credit card with BECU and their fraud monitoring failed. I noticed a little late that I had fraud charges. Because I noticed late they will not refund any of the dollars (close to 5k) I lost. Their credit card monitoring is a sham. Recently moved to the area and had need to go to BECU Neighborhood location here off Meridian. It was super busy and the wait time was about 45 minutes. I love BECU and have been a member for decades, along with most of the family. With all the new housing construction in the area, hopefully BECU is considering adding a full Financial location in the not too distant future. If i could give this credit union a ZERO rating I would. On 1/27/2023 around 3-4PM PST I visited the Tukwilla location just for a benign (no ID required) task. The teller, front, 3rd or 4th from the right, long black hair in a pony tail and oversized false eyelashes was one of the rudest tellers. This is not a one-off situation. This teller was flip, and had zero customer service skill-set what so ever and made the transaction so painful!!! (again, not a formal monetary transaction) . I must have waited 20-23 minutes in line just for a very benign transaction which no one else was able to help with. This teller could care less about being helpful or doing their job well - they were absolutely horrible. My last visit to this same location I waited about 30 minutes just to turn a $10 dollar bill into some quarters. one of the worst financial institutions yet. I don't really like this bank/credit union. They're not really helpful much. As much as I would like to go in detail I'm not going to expose them at any fault bc I could be part of that as well. Even with that said, I'm still a customer and I thought taking care of their customers is a priority. I was wrong and I'll be closing my accounts slowly. It's upsetting to deal with without consultation and the only advice I get is, just pay as much as you can before they close my accounts. And I'm stuck having to worry about it. I have been with BECU for years. They have made offers FOR YEARS to work with them for a loan. We decided to give it a try and boy was that a mistake. we have outstanding credit and can get a loan from anywhere but we choose to go with BECU, we have been with them for almost 20 years now. Not only did they screw up our loan information but they did not even give us the correct info during the whole process. **BEWARE EVERYONE BEWARE... They will get you in the door and do the whole bate and switch. Or give you the run around until you get so frustrated you either give in (which we did not) or go to another source. Worst credit union ever. No tellers, the customer service agents wear t shirts and jeans. There are 2 atms in place of tellers. When you are a new member you have to wait 90 days to access your money like other people. You have to wait a week for a security check. They phrase it "we watch you spending habbits". They don't have a call center that us 24 hrs, if you lose your card it goes to voicemail. They outsource their call center as well, it isn't BECU on the phone. I came in this branch as this is the closest one from work, however I needed to file fraud charges by a certain company which keeps charging my debit card. Miranda took her time to dig deeper as to what ad how does it happen as I already blocked and changed my debit card and somehow this company still manages to charge me. I had my 3 year old daughter with me while I was waiting to get a new atm card and I asked to use the restroom for my daughter and they wouldn't let her so no public restrooms. Have been a member of BECU for nearly 20 years. 18 of those years were some of best banking experiences I've had. Lately, it seems there is something going on with there loan services. Applied for a small personal loan approximately a year and a half ago now and had my chops busted by there underwriter because I would not divulge down to last penny where "all" the money was being spent to which I replied well it's personal, like the loan request, L! She initially denied it to which I left a bad review. To BECU's credit I was contacted by a customer service rep who intervened and got me the loan as my credit score is in the 800's and I have solid income to repay. Currently, there underwriter is busting my chops wanting copies of 401k statements, pay stubs and what ever other information I am willing to give up to refi my RV. Mind you I was auto approved for the RV loan upon initial purchase. This will definitely be the last time I use any of there loan services, there underwriters are the worst! read more

This recommendation is really for BECU loan officer MacKenzie Badham, who works out of the Puyallup BECU office. I was sent to her when I asked about a Home Equity Line of Credit to try my hand at buying and selling preforeclosures. My income history is complex because I do contracting, and the main employment agency I do contracting through was bought by another one last summer. When MacKenzie sent my loan application an underwriter for approval, it was refused. But MacKenzie got permission to send my application to a senior underwriter, with more information. This time it was approved. Without MacKenzie's knowledge and persistence, I don't know if I'd have that loan. If you need a Home Equity Line of Credit, for any reason, I recommend going straight to MacKenzie Badham! read more

I am currently on the phone, 37 minutes and counting, trying to get an answer as to why my debit card is locked. It has been locked for three days, cannot even buy groceries. Simply because I used it to pay the mechanic to fix my car. Tried to call over the weekend, no one was answering phones. The mobile app works sometimes, sometimes not. I switched banks & have had a good experience with BECU. The customer service is excellent. Now I get higher interest on my check & savings accnts and can scan checks to be deposited instead of going to the bank. Terrible customer service. My teenage son has had an account there since he was 16. He made an appointment online to make a cash deposit that included a large amount of small bills and rolled coins (allowance, birthday cash and change that he had been collecting since childhood), and separately to discuss opening a Roth IRA with the $1800 proceeds of a car sale. The rep told him when he showed up that they didn't want the coins and that he would have to deposit the cash himself in the ATM outside. He spent 20 minutes depositing all the small bills and then when he went back inside to talk to them about the investment account they told him that his appointment time was up and they wouldn't speak with him without another appointment. We took him and his $320 worth of rolled quarters to Chase, where they were happy to exchange them for bills and to open a checking account. Needless to say, we are in the process of switching his paycheck direct deposit to Chase and closing both his and his brother's BECU accounts. Horrible way to treat any customer, much less a teenager who is not very experienced with banking and is just trying to do the right things. read more

I love BECU! They are friendly and the most helpful of any banking institution I have ever had. The online banking can not be beat. It is so easy to use I do everything through their system. And I have to say they don't always add a charge for everything they do for you either. Loose an ATM card, they replace it free. Loose more than one, they replace free. Recently switched from Wells Fargo. I'm so glad I did. Much better! Customer service over the phone is awesome. Had a couple of questions about my account and they answered right away. Then today, I ordered something online from Walmart, they canceled the order because they didn't have the item in stock but placed $1,300 hold on my account.
