In my line of work, I have had the pleasure of working with new residents who are being relocated to Washington by their employers. I've worked with politicians, attorneys, doctors, & professional athletes. When moving to a new area, it's usually asked where the best everything is. BECU was always on the top of that list. In the last 5 years, it's gone down ASTRONOMICALLY. I haven't recommended this bank for over a year. I have only had to come to the branch and speak to a consultant 10x in the last 5 years and every encounter has been absolutely terrible. This most recent has me ready to cancel my account and find a better credit union. After waiting for 9 mins, I approached this young lady at 10:39am to inform her that we had a 10:30am appt. She rudely tells me "have a seat, someone we'll be with me shortly".... The phrase "Its not what you say, but how you say it" applies here. Then to top it all off, I was her for an Auto Loan signing that should've took 20 mins max and it ended up being an hour and 10 mins For an entry-level employee to feel this comfortable speaking this rudely to her customers, it tells me this behavior is accepted at the leadership level. I see entirely too many Member Consultants at BECU who are rude and don't put the member 1st. read more

Worst credit union ever! Spare yourself a lot of lost time waiting for customer service and go elsewhere..like NAVY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION! They rock compared to BECU. BECU is consistently reporting inaccurate and damaging information on my credit report and they should be sued for their credit reporting practices! I have another friend who used them and was not on a loan they insist she's on with no proof and they will not take it off all the credit reporting agencies. So, every time she applies for credit she has to deal with these bozos! Stay far away from them...you'll be happy you did! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! The worse customer service I ever dealt with!!!! Every CSR I have talked to has told me I have done everything that's needed with my auto loan and account and every other month they call with an issue!!! Just so they can charge me a late fee or 2!!! I think their main objective is to make all your banking issues harder on you!!! I had direct deposit set up for my auto loan as told by BECU, which I got the routing number and account number directly from a CSR and I was told my payment would be taken out and I wouldn't have to worry. Haha!!! Called yesterday to tell me I'm late and I have a late fee BUT I have enough money that been deposited into my bank account at their facility, BECU, to cover 2 payments!!!! Wtf!!!! I hate this bank!!! Do not bank here!!! They are terrible!!!! They do not care about you, they are just setting you up to pay their fees and late fees and whatever else they can get you for!!! The workers could improve. There's one guy who works the front who works fast and efficiently, otherwise you get the elder woman who rudely acted like Change(coins) was a foreign voodoo. Suggested I go to a grocery store for a change machine. Or you get the overly tattoo'd woman who spent too much time socializing with the clients about personal things. We watched her move super slow and socialize with everyone she passed. Trying to look somewhere else, all we saw was another woman in black with black hair on the phone with her cellphone in hand for the whole hour we were there. The place is a mess read more

I just wanted to say thank you to Melissa at this Branch. I spent Saturday morning in the South Hill Branch for an hour only to be told there wasn't enough time to open my account. Even though there was an hour and a half before closing. Furthermore I was told I had to fill out all the paperwork by hand to come back. On a whim I went to this branch and Melissa helped do it all on the computer except for the few sections by hand. Such a great experience. Definitely recommend read more

I just moved to Tacoma and wanted to establish a relationship with a local financial institution--enter BECU. (I've been a member of local credit unions for years and greatly prefer them to banks.) The process of establishing a new account was super easy, and I was able to do it all online, which I appreciated. The reason I'm giving a five star rating to this particular location, however, is because I needed to get a "medallion signature guarantee" for a financial transaction (unrelated to BECU), and they have a person on staff who handles this, free of charge, for credit union members. Thus, I had the chance to meet Lisa H., a senior member consultant and mortgage loan originator (MLO). She was extremely helpful, professional, and genuine, and she took all the time I needed to answer my questions. Based on my encounter with her, I look forward to doing business with this BECU branch in the days ahead! read more

I come in here every couple of weeks to deposit my check and that's really about it. Being BECU is a small credit union, but experiencing huge growth thanks to fees for anything at major banks, it's usually a mad house here. That's why I give it four stars vs. five. But I think I'd give it a 4.5 if I could since most banks are going to be busy on the weekends when I generally stop by. Anyways, friendly people and 24hour access to the ATM, which is inside. Best credit union out there! I feel as if this is the one place where I've never had issues, every time I've needed to go in to change things or set up an account I've never had any problems. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and quick, the inside has a good amount of kid entertainment, the online banking app is a breeze! The only complaint I can think of is that there is almost always a long line for the ATM's BUT it's worth it! read more

I've been with BECU for a number of years, and I love their services. I love it as a financial institution, but hate this particular location. They've got it set up so that everyone gets in the same line, which means that if I'm here for a cashiers check I have to wait for the couple to finish applying for a home loan. Today, I've been sitting in the lobby with the same 4 people for 15 minutes. Not one of us has been called. There are four people working, and none of them appear to have any sense of urgency at all. It would be nice if they had a single teller to handle quick transactions. Edit: I'm still sitting here, after 30 minutes total. The branch is now closed, so a manager came and locked the doors, then went back into the back of the branch. Clearly he can't be bothered to help the four people who are still waiting to be served. I'm next, but it's not particularly comforting. One woman was already skipped due to their handwritten sign-in process. God knows how long she'd been waiting. Edit: Was finally called, after 40 minutes. Mentioned to the employee that the wait was very long, she said that was standard on Saturdays. I'm sorry, a 40 minute wait for a 5 minute transaction is standard? Apparently we have very different ideas of good customer service. read more

I recently filed the home loan paperwork out here in the Meridian office in Safeway, and closed on my 12 year NO FEE loan that Chase wouldnt refi me on in 2008. Bub Bye Chase. Just left this branch, walked-in and was about to check-in but was called over right away and thought awesome no wait time. Went over to her desk, didn't get her name because she didn't introduce herself to us but I believe it was Cyndi cause I caught a glimpse of her name tag (her desk is right by the window near Meridian side) Her attitude was not great. I understand we're all human but if you're working with customers on a daily basis, at least act like you want to help your customers and not act like you're better then them/know better. Had a much better experience with another rep at the Tukwila branch, she was much more helpful and because of the rep from Tukwila for being much more helpful and friendly, we're still going to continue with BECU but we won't be working with Cyndi again if we come to this location. read more

I'm not sure how I've updated my phone number with BECU atleast 3 times, yet my VISA credit card gets compromised and they cancel my card and I'm not notified until I try to use my card & charge won't go through? Over a week later, I get a letter in the mail advising me. Nice. My husband heads up to BECU to ask what the problem is prior to receiving the letter. He deals with the incompetent Cyndi. I get a letter a week later telling us about the address change on my accounts. Funny, we haven't moved?? So, we're very confused and this time we go to Bonney Lake BECU. Apparently Cyndi got confused with the customer changing their address and my husband inquiring what happened to our VISA. She changed the address on all of our accounts to someone else's address!! I had to close all my accounts and open new ones. I didn't want to continue banking here, but my husband does. I guess we should all just be thankful Cyndi isn't a surgeon. Because I'm sure there would be lots of people walking around missing limbs or have a random penis surgically attached to their heads. Update- I sent a msg to John with our phone # and no call. Would like to say I'm surprised but nothing surprises me anymore. read more
