When I moved to the small town of Sequim 22 years ago, my neighbor told me about Sound Bank. She…read moretold me to go in and introduce myself to the manager, and everything else would fall into place. I did that, and my neighbor was right. The manager invited me to a community event, and that was the start of my social circle in Sequim. She also set up my accounts and introduced me to the staff. When my daughter decided to move here ten years later, I gave her the same advice my neighbor had given me. She was approved for her home mortgage in no time and is still a loyal customer. In fact, many people here in Sequim have had a similar experience: a second branch has opened here. Much credit has to be given to that manager, but the new manager is cut from the same cloth. On my second visit to the bank, the teller knew my name, and so have the tellers hired more recently, and I'm by no means a big depositor; I'm just an old, retired man living on his Social Security. I will always recommend this bank over any other bank in Washington. If you happen to live in a town lucky enough to have a Sound Community Bank branch office, you should try it and see what I mean.

I love this Bank. The tellers are personable and kind, they actually get to know you and your name,…read moreand they actually pay attention to what you need and what you want. I have done business banking with Sound Community Bank since 2013 when I founded a small Brewery in Tacoma. Sound has given me not only a lot of opportunities that would otherwise not be afforded a brand new small business such as a Capital Equipment loan at relatively favorable rates, but has also created tremendous networking opportunities with other local businesses. Our accountant for example is someone who was introduced to us by staff at Sound Community Bank, and he is a rockstar. This bank is about relationships and connections. If you want to bank just to have a place to keep your money, there are other banks that have more branches and more ubiquity. But if you want to bank and have a relationship, Sound Community Bank is completely outstanding.

Do not bank at the Lakewood, WA Bank of America. Shaylene Miranda one of their so-called managers…read moreis terrible. She is extremely condesceding and disrespectful to everyone. I have spoken to several of my colleagues and all of them have left BOA for a local credit union after their personal experience at this branch and more specifically with Shaylene. When I described my encounter with her, they all laughed as they shared similar stories. I have been with BOA since 1997 and am a preferred client; however, the unprofessional manner in which I was dealt with has caused me to choose to bank elsewhere (directly across the street at WSECU. It is clear that BOA does not value its clients, nor does it care that their staff (Shaylene Miranda) treat people in such a callous, disdainful manner. Perhaps, when they continue to have clients pull their money, BOA will make the necessary changes. It is disheartening that this woman can get away with her brazen, contemptuous behaviors. DO BETTER BANK OF AMERICA . . . getting rid of Shaylene Miranda would be a good start!!!

They have the line barriers (roped off area corrals) that loop around like you'd see at Disneyland. Customer service reps are multitasking, for instance counting dollars while talking to you, and their friendliness is on par with some of the worst customer service I've experienced. It's always a wait, regardless of activity. I have yet to experience a pleasant transaction at this branch. The best they have to offer is ATMs outside.

Zero sense of urgency and it seems like only one person there knows how to do anything. I will likely close my checking account based on the customer service. It is astonishing this bank is still in business. Customer service is so poor, not even Covid-19…read moreexcuses it. I was new in town and needed a bank. Key bank was of course very welcoming, set me up with a checking account, savings and credit card. Well the credit card never did work properly it was continually declined even though there was debt against the card. Stupid. That credit card insisted on my keeping a $500 balance in it and I could never manage to use it. The checking account was even more astonishing. $1 per check. The best/wprst part was when was about to move out of state, the bank could not closer my credit account. I had to call a number to authorise closing (bank would not do this (even though I was there in person) and they kept my money in the account for 30 days before releasing it to me. This was my own money. This is an old timey bank without any kind of progressive thinking or services. Unless you don't mind being unable to access your money and you don't mind a silly interest rate (like less than 1 %) hide your money in the garden and avoid like the plague
