Herbs is a legend around middle Georgia. Has been there forever, and has really good ratings. it was clean, and service was good, but I was not so impressed with the food. Catfish (which is the 'main' attraction) was breaded and fried - and they gave me 4, but whole fish and I had to pick it off the bones, and there was not much meat on each one. The onion rings, and hush puppies were good but not great. Price was very reasonable. It was ok, but if I go back will get the flounder or something that is not so hard to eat. read more

This is a place that was recommended to me by many locals as the place I needed to check out. It's located out in the middle of the woods and is literally in the middle of houses - in fact I think they live behind the restaurant. Serving mainly southern style catfish and other seafood items. The place looks like someone's country kitchen and is decorated with knick knacks throughout. It's clientele appears to be locals.. And your grandparents. We needed a place to start the celebration for my son's pending nuptials, and it could not have been any better! We had it all- shrimp, oysters, scallops, catfish (filets and whole) and flounder...throw in the fries, onion rings, hush puppies, slaw and grits. Everything tasted great and wasn't greasy(tasted like brand new oil in the fryers)! If you're near by or need to drive a ways, head to Herb's Fish Place...you will not be disappointed! My husband and I were there for the first time on July 31, 2021. We sat at a table, ordered our food and waited there for our to go order to be brought to the table.The wait was short,the staff was polite and the food was good when we arrived home. We returned yesterday, September the 4th and our experience was completely different. Again we sat at a table and waited for our to go order. The wait was long , the staff pretty much ignored us and the flounder filet was old. Anyone who enjoys eating fish knows how terrible old fish taste. It was inedible and went in the trash.The staff that I saw were different people from the first time we were there. Just before our order was brought to our table, I noticed two staff members talking up front and one of them looked at us and made an indifferent hand gesture toward our table which I interpreted as " They are not important and can keep waiting". Between this and receiving old fish, The staff may benefit from diversity training, as we were the only ones in the place who was treated this way. I had never been to Herb's before July of this year. I decided to give it a try when WMAZ channel 13 had a segment on Herb's on July 30, 2021. Yet, I have not given up on this place and will return again because I realize that all staff members are not the same and everyone has a bad day, but there was no excuse for receiving bad food. read more
