For the first 30 - 40 minutes, I kept hearing a buzzing and the massage therapist kept either switching to one hand or just resting a hand for a minute or so without moving it. I have never had a facial before, so not knowing what to expect, I requested the Express Facial (a $65 service value). My appointment started late, because the receptionist (?) was busy upselling lotions to another client and allowed her to use the remainder of the gift certificate she tendered for payment. More on this later. One of the reasons I wanted to try a facial is because I have a few very large and noticeable blackheads on my face that I would love to have extracted. Do they perform this service? According to their website, absolutely. The person giving me a facial told me it wasn't necessary. Even after looking through a magnifier. Okaayy. Fast forward to the time for payment. I surrendered my gift certificate upon checking in for my appointment. Remember: GC = $100, service = $65. I paid the clinician a cash tip. When I went to the counter to check out for services rendered, the receptionist said "that will be it then!" I was a little surprised, so I took the bait of the upsell scheme, a $30 product, hoping she would do the right thing and use the remainder of the GC amount. Instead she asked for further payment. I left feeling as though this business must need the money more than I did, so it felt fine. As I have sat with it for a month and a half, it no longer feels that way. Should I have said something then? Absolutely, yes I should have. I didn't and I own it. $35 is not going to make or break me. The reason for this review? To put my experience out there in hopes it gets read and doesn't happen to any one else....especially if $35 is a vital part of a budget. The two stars are the clinician. I am still not sure what to expect with a facial.

In light of the up charges, my husband called today to ask what the charge would be for the rescheduled appointment and when he was told it would be $145. He asked why is was no longer $85. He complained about the uninformed nature of the charges from our service yesterday and was told a different story than I was. He was told by the same receptionist I talked to that they assumed we knew that if we did not have a current membership the first service would be $85. the second would be $145. and the third would be $218 for a one hour massage. How could we have possibly known this? If true we should have been informed even before we had the massages a month ago or at least when booking the second massages. There will be no third service because we were never informed of this practice and certainly will not be extorted into paying for a membership at this location because of it. The text message on my phone to confirm my appointment stated that they use Tippy service for the gratuity for their therapists. I used this separate terminal for my last service. However, this time the gratuity was charged on the same terminal and added to the massage charge. Kelsie is a great therapist and I do hope that gratuity was passed on to her.

I went again earlier today, 5 months into my pregnancy (highly recommend for expectant mamas) and they adapted the massage to address different pressure points than they hit before I was pregnant. Bonus - there are parking spots for expecting moms right outside of Dicks sporting goods which is right next door to Chi - easy in, easy out! The one slight drawback is right outside the doors is a child's play area, if that kind of sound bothers you I suggest bringing headphones.
