I really need to get this off my chest and warn other women. I had the worst experience with hair in my life! Way over priced and poor quality hair. Helen will tell you its your fault and you did something wrong. It was my flat iron, then my hair dryer and of course I'm washing it too much. She had me buy a new expensive flat iron and an air dryer for my hair. After all that it still looked terrible. The quality of hair is the first issue. After getting my hair done, it would be good for about a week and then I had to call her to come back in. The weave was way too tight, my head would ache for days after. The weave would pull out. I am a blonde and I have very fine thin hair and she put bleach or something on my scalp to lighten my roots. It ate away my hair and all my baby hairs growing. Please dont do a package deal. Then you are stuck. Her prices seem to be all over the place and she tells you she cares as she ruins your hair. I never asked for any money back ($7,100), I just wanted to be done with the nightmare. It is never to late to speak up. I am going to a new person now and my hair has never looked so good. It keeps on getting better and better, not worse! It was a rough 6 months, but I got out and I'm glad I did. I hope this helps out other women. read more

Helen was awesome, her whole crew is awesome and I can't begin to express how much better i feel now that I have some hair back on my head. I'm a martial artist who works out nearly every day so the hair was going to have to stand up to that. So far, the hair is absolutely excellent... If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I spoke with Helen and would be getting my hair done by her. Helen had her daughter braid my hair and it was very tight. So tight that a day later I had bumps. Moving forward to the weave, she sewed it in very tight as well. My head was throbbing with pain because it was so tight by the end of the session. The hair she used was very poor quality. I drove a 45 minute drive and the hair was already matting, and had a not so great smell. I texted her because I wasn't happy with my hair and told her it was matting. She then said it's probably something I'm doing to the hair, even though I hadn't put any product in it. I came back to her shop probably 2 weeks later and she said that the hair was probably "expired"?? Which is why it was matting. She replaced it with a weave she had made and that was so embarrassing to wear. It was pulling back to the point you could see my braids. I asked her to fix it but she was in LA with her clients. I ended up taking it out after 2 weeks. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

(I updated this review a little bit because, though I was extremely frustrated by this situation, I just want to be fair in the end. **Also, please note that I even re-edited and updated it because I didn't feel good about writing this. I actually can't even read the owner comment and respond because I feel bad about the whole thing; but I had to write this. Your experience may be different, but this was mine.) I went to Her Secret recently and I hate to write this because I wanted to love Her Secret. I was charged $700 for a hair weave I am getting from my current stylists for $275. I located Her Secret people online and was amazed by their customer service. I just feel really upset by the whole situation. Okay, so I was told I was getting my hair done by Helen. I actually asked this question and was told, and I quote, "Helen will be the only one touching your hair." Wrong.. Her daughter actually did it. For $700, I didn't expect someone else's hands to touch my head, but I let it go. (You know how when you go to a restaurant and there is something wrong but you don't speak up at that moment because you don't want your food spit it? Well, this was a similar situation.) Anyway, when I got there they started telling me how the hair I brought was garbage and that I should buy their hair, His & Her Brand hair, which they would sell me for $325, which was a deal because it was actually $625. I wanted to believe them, so I said okay and trusted them completely. My $700 weave had just jumped to a little over $1000. Fine, I said to myself, I must pay the price for beauty. Wrong again! The hair they sold me, His & Her Brand Hair, started to tangle as soon as I got home and began to shed in the car the second I left their shop. The hair they stated was "so much better" than my hair, yet about 4 months later, the hair they sold me for $325 (marked down from $625) is nowhere to be found. It's not in my hair anymore!! It shed so much that it's gone. I can tell my "bad" hair is the one that is left because I brought 16 inches and the hair they sold me was 20''. They must have known this; or at least they should know their product better. I gave my experience 1 star because though my hair turned out okay, it started to come down two weeks later. If they were charging $200, I would have probably given them 3 stars (still taking into account the shedding hair issue, the coming down of the hair in such short time, etc.), but if you are charging someone $700, you better make my hair look amazing and make sure the work is not shoddy. I probably could have asked them to fix it, but honestly, I just didn't want to run the risk of them tightening it for only "30 dollars" or something. I just didn't want to spend more money on this issue. I found a new salon in which I was telling her my experience with these people, but I didn't want to name them by name. The new stylists said, and I quote, "Are they based in Livermore? Do they try to sell you stuff about Neiman Marcus hair? I've had a lot of people come to me after going to that salon." (I deleted a sentence because I didn't have enough factual information to back it up.) Again, I wish I didn't have to write this review, but I trusted people I should not have. 4/2014- well i finally read the owner comment. These people (Helen and her sister) are very good salespeople. That's the only thing good I can say about this place. I would bet my life that some of these reviews are written by them, other family members, or friends. The picture of the gal with the microphone is Helen's sister. What does that picture have to do with a review of what kind of work they do. They both tout that Helen is always off on her trips to New York to help her so called celebrities. Can you think of a good reason if she is supposedly making wigs for Cher and Beyonce for $150K each she would be working in a small and unsophisticated salon in LIvermore? They "Oooh and Aaah" to everyone (I heard several) with great enthusiasm, and tell you how wonderful you look in their wigs that are made out of very cheap materials (as I thought and was verified by 3 other salons). They rave about what top notch hair they buy and that's why it takes so long to get your wig. Their prices are quite high - 40% higher than reputable salons in San Francisco. Helen may do a good job on extensions. I don't know about that. Steer clear of this place. Hire them if you want a phony salesperson for a used car lot. read more

The people here seemed to be nice, but overall getting a weave at Her Secret was an expensive mistake. After looking at the website of this salon and talking to the owner Helen, I thought that I was in the hands of professionals. However, I got a weave that took 1-1/2 hours, and started to fall apart after only 2 weeks.My glued in tracks started to lift and I went back and just got more glue. I called a couple of other shops and describe my weave as sewn in and glued in. One shop told me that this did not sound right and that they would not touch it. When I found someone that would help me, I was told that the weave had to be taken down and done over again because the process did not sound right. When my weave was taken down it was discovered that there was only one French braid around the perimeter of my head. The rest of my natural hair was gelled and a weave net sown to the single French braid. One track was also sown to the French braid. The rest of the tracks were glued in with some of the glue stuck on my hair. The new Stylist explained to me that if I had kept the weave much longer, my hair would have matted and would have had to be cut off. I could not believe this, I felt as if I was robbed. I have to admit, on the surface my hair looked nice at first, but little did I know underneath was a disaster. I am very happy with my new weave, which was 1/3rd the costs of the bad weave. read more
