It definitely shows its age--and I mean that affectionately. (The Dudley Chateau) The building is well worn, it gets packed, it can be loud, and yes, the restrooms have seen better days. None of that has stopped us from coming back several times a year. Why? Because the food is consistently excellent, and so is the service. The menu goes well beyond what you'd expect from a neighborhood pub, and we've yet to leave disappointed. The staff somehow manages to stay friendly, attentive, and efficient even when the place is buzzing. The Dudley Chateau isn't trying to be trendy or upscale, and that's part of its charm. It's comfortable in its own skin, and so are the people who keep coming back. If you're looking for spotless, quiet, and polished, this probably isn't your place. But if you're looking for great food, friendly service, and a genuine local institution with plenty of character, it's absolutely worth the visit.

Salad was low brow, but tasty enough, homemade blue cheese dressing, not offensive. The place could use a cleaning, and some feminine energy, and the menu needs a lot of help, if we are going to move away from seed oils. No need to rush back. Very solid across, he really liked the pork chop but wasn't too much of a fan of the relish or cabbage that came with his meal. The chowder were very good too, warm and the croutons toppings soaked up nicely in the thick broth. The highlight was my drink. I ordered a spiced pear martini and oh my goodness it was amazing! So good that my husband ordered one after he finished his Guinness! Delicious!!! For dessert I ordered my favorite, chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and my husband ordered the Crème brûlée. I already knew what I wanted. I ordered the Dublin Bay Steamed Mussels ($18 plus tax) and the Braised Short Rib Sliders ($15 plus tax). I was given an ice water. While I was here, they were having issues with the beer taps and pours, no surprise, which was eventually rectified. The food was served together, 10 minutes after ordering. The Steamed Mussels (25) were simmered in a tasty mussels broth with Jack's Abby Lager, garlic, tomatoes, & herbs, served with grilled toast. The 3 Braised Short Rib Sliders had tender pieces of short rib, caramelized onions, rosemary, horseradish cream dressing on small toasted brioche buns. Both starters were tasty and enough food for dinner. The check was already printed out after I ordered which was $35.31 with tax and before tip. Overall, I enjoyed the food here and the service was adequate, though I had to ask for a bowl for the mussels shells. If I had ordered a draft beer on this particular visit, the experience would've been dicey in the beginning. Since I stuck to just food, it was all good.
