The remaining five cypresses weren't looking so hot themselves. Seeing how it was so close to the holiday and crazy windy and cold, we didn't think we'd be able to reach anybody. Abbott's, however, showed up the same day to secure (e.g. cut down) the remaining trees and take down the half-fallen one. They returned several days later to fully remove and chip everything. We appreciate their professionalism and quick response. And their prices were very reasonable.

This time it was to remove all the trees. I value the fact every tree they remove they donate to plant a tree, which is sustainability at its finest. Since these trees used up 1/3 of my townhouse yard it was best to remove them all this time. They did have to remove a section of the fence for ease of getting their equipment in which was put back together quite well even though it's an old fence that will be replaced in the next few years. The guys came with all the tools and made quick work of everything from tree to stump removal. As the guys were in the back cutting things down there were guys in the front that chipped everything. From start to finish they made quick work of 4 trees. From the initial quote to the payment easy to work with, knowledgeable and efficient. Plus inquired what they would suggest should be replanted just to get an idea which again was very helpful. Even though I don't have anymore trees on my property will always recommend this company to others plus will look to see what other services they offer to use them in the future.

I identified a risky tree (a very large and tall tree) on my property that needed to be removed…read morebecause it was in danger of falling on the house. After doing some research on the web, I procured an estimate and proposal from a fully-insured local tree service contractor with a good reputation and with great reviews to do the job, namely, from Hoods Tree Service. At a point about 2 hours into the job, after he had removed some of the top limbs (about 70 to 80 feet above ground), the owner, Robert Hood, informed me that he would be unable to proceed because he felt that the tree was too high-risk, and he feared that he might be killed if he continued the work, and he explained that there would be no charge for the 2 hours of work he'd already done. Best of all, he told me that the upper branches that he had been able to remove before ending the job had all been branches that had extended over the house, and with these branches removed, this greatly increased the chance that if the tree did fall within the next few months, that it would fall AWAY from the house, rather than onto it. Robert Hood kindly recommended another larger local tree service company to handle the dangerous job, telling me the company he was recommending is extremely competent at handling removal of very high-risk trees. He also warned me that the tree was so dangerous that the job would definitely require the use of a bucket lift or a crane! I did eventually contact and use the services of the larger company that Robert had recommended, and they did a great job, but it took them a long time, a large crew, and the use of a 72' boom lift (bucket lift) on caterpillar treads, and of course, the price for the job was justifiably quite a bit more than the original estimate from Hoods Tree Service. BTW, even though Robert would not allow me to pay him anything for the 2 hours of excellent work he had performed on the tree prior to having been forced to end the job, I plan to hire him soon to remove some dead limbs from another tree near the house that are overhanging the house, and so I am happy that he will at least get to finally make some money off work on the numerous trees on my forested mountainside property! I feel that Robert Hood of Hoods Tree Services is very competent, very professional, and very careful in his work! He is also very good at communicating with the customer about the job, the options, and about possible hazards, at every step of the way!

I was reluctantly considering removing them and had gotten two quotes to do so. When I met with the arborist Tim Zastrow, who is certified to do tree risk assessments, he was able to come up with a plan to stabilize the trees with rods and cables and prune them to keep most of the canopy weight on the side opposite the house. The crew who came to do the work was great. They were polite and professional in every way. They reached out to Tim when there was a little uncertainty about which limbs to prune. They were knowledgeable and worked as a well-established team to get the job done. As soon as the first rod was placed, I felt a wave of relief knowing that I had found the appropriate balance between safety, cost and tree removal. The cables in the canopy are all but invisible and the rods are not obtrusive. The plan cost less than 1/3 of the lowest estimate I received to remove the trees. And most importantly, I still have the trees! All in all, next time I would call Bartlett Tree Service first!

They did a great job, explained exactly what was needed, and the cleanup was very thorough. I'd recommend this company highly--and won't hesitate to call back when we need to.
