My dad & i went for the all you can eat Sunday buffet. The staff were friendly and efficient, & explained how the buffet works very well. The food i tried was all excellent (pulled pork, ribs, mac n cheese, green beans, brownies, & pudding), cooked to perfection, and with delicious seasonings as well. I felt like eating fried fish today so I went to check them out for the first time. The portions were amazing. Definitely worth the $21 I paid. The fish was tasty and meaty. The way they wrapped the fish in the platter kept the fish from getting soggy from the greens and mac 'n cheese. The greens were tasty, no meat which I liked. Why oh why have I waited so long to get here? I've heard whispered oohs and aahs about how good it was, and then COVID hit, and it got pushed to the back of my radar because it was a bit of a hike to get here. Now put on your big girl pants, because this ain't yo cheap fast food barbecue. Patience, grasshopper, patience. I ordered a combo plate knowing full well I would be taking most of it home. And with a $29 price tag, you got your choice of 2 meats (except brisket - next time!), 2 sides and 2 cornbread. For sides, I first chose the mac and cheese, which I just loved. Not wet, not too dry, cheesy and full of flavor. The candied yams were to die for. Soft and pillowy and sweet. I went with the ribs as one of my choices for meats, and they were so perfectly done that the rib bones literally slid out of the meat as I picked it up. I managed two ribs before I cried uncle and sat back. Didn't touch the fried chicken but it's in my freezer waiting for another day. They looked and smelled heavenly. The corn bread - what in the baby Jesus cornucopia was in this recipe? Just perfect and it wasn't crumbly at all. The Ribs were delicious. Tender. Tasty. The Fried chicken was delicious. Crispy skin was awesome. Good Fried chicken is getting harder to find The Mac & Cheese was solid. There variety of BBQ sauces were great. I'll be back just because of those 3 items Ribs Fried Chicken Max & cheese. Now, for the criticism. The cornbread needs a new recipe, in my opinion & my guests, it was not good. The Pulled Chicken was chopped up smoked chicken. You need to change the menu description/title of this item. OR I was given the wrong item in my order. There was nothing tender or pulled about the pulled chicken I ordered. It was chopped and smoked, a little tough too. The BBQ beans were not bad, not bland, but not great, I feel like there's a recipe out there or that you can create a new one maybe doctor up your own better. BBQ beans at a BBQ Joint need to be on Point. Lastly, the pulled pork left a lot to be desired. I don't know your prep/cooking method from start to finish but I personally make better slow cooked pulled pork in my crockpot at home. The pulled pork was disappointing. Lacked flavor & seemed over cooked. Again, Henri Hotts Ribs & Fried chicken were absolutely delicious. 4 out of 5 stars just for those 2 items. And I'll be back just based on those 2 items. I look forward to trying the Brisket next time. Someone told me I should. I know I was harsh with the review of some items, but that's what you want if your a Chef, Owner, or Investor at Henri Hotts. You want to know what a present day customer thinks of the present day BBQ food your sending out. Elevate your game by tweaking a few menu items/things and I believe the potential is there to be a top 3 BBQ spot in the entire state of NJ. Ate BBQ all around the country. Let me start with THE HUSH PUPPIES ARE AMAZING. Okay now that I have gotten that off my chest let me tell you this BBQ is worth the drive no matter where you are in NJ. We called and ordered our food (it took about 25 minutes) and took it 8 minutes down the road to three3s brewing. Just having the good sit in the car was making my mouth water. Everything was fantastic. The onion rings are the quintessential onion ring, you know the one you always dream about but can never find we'll order them here cause they are . After a long debate with the husband we finally decided upon Henri's Hotts Barbeque for dinner on this hot Sunday. We ordered 1/2 of slab of ribs, a smoke slow platter w/ rib tips, 1/2 BBQ chicken platter and for dessert peach cobbler, and 7up cake. Ribs and rib tips are FANTASTIC just need more bbq sauce! The meat just slid off the bone!! Our sides were absolutely delicious!! The green beans were my favorite along with the black eyed peas! The Mac and cheese is cheesy and seasoned! What's not to like about this place? It's amazing!!! I found this place in 2016 while I was living in Mays Landing. I still make the two hour trip(each way) back there to eat at least 2-3 times per year. The food is that amazing.
