The soba noodle soup was not warm enough and overall the taste of everything was ok. Skip the noodles and order the rice dishes - they are more tasty. I'd rate the soba noodles 2 stars, the appetizers 3 stars and the rice dishes 4 stars. The owners are Japanese and very friendly!

Very good authentic food. They have English menu as well. I love the gyu don (Japanese thinly sliced beef bowl). The curry and rice is also amazing. Nothing can go wrong here, and I ready miss this place!!!

Heno Heno was formerly in the Kantstr. and closed like months ago. On the day I found out something died in me. All the things I love leave me (the same feeling after watching game of thrones and somebody you really like dies). A few weeks later I found out on instagram that Heno Heno is planing of coming back but with a new address. Months of waiting came but it was worth in! Ladies and gentlemen: This is Heno Heno my new favourite japanese restaurant! They serve a handfull of dishes which are on point. My favourite was (when I still ate meat) the gyu-don which is a rice bowl with a beef stew. Add the onsen tamago (poached egg) to get it authentic. The bowls are in three different sizes and for a super small price. I haven't checked all their dishes yet but my friend who has been in Tokyo for a year likes it there. Escpecially for the semi-authentic interior. For vegetarians I recommend the veggie donburi which is rice topped with a spinach salad and seaweed in sesame. Love it here! Thank Heno Heno for coming back and making a sad girl happy.

A little bit of a hidden gem in the heart of Charlottenburg. Simple but nice interior and a small menu. Many vegetarian options! Went for an umeboshi onigiri (1,90€ they also had seaweed, salmon and ginger-meat) and a small vegetarian don. The onigiri was not so much my taste but I was just curious about the umeboshi flavor. But it was handmade and I'm sure that people who enjoy this particular flavor will love it. All the dishes can be ordered in different sizes and I asked beforehand where's the difference between small and medium and they showed me the two bowls and honestly they looked pretty much the same so I went for the small one. What i got was rice with egg (which was cold sadly) and topped with seaweed which was seasoned really well! There was also some kind of ground almond meal on top? All in all it was tasty but the flavor was really intense so i probably wouldn't have been able to finish a big-sized bowl. For two mains, two onigiris and two drinks we paid 21€! Really affordable!

Takoyaki is a speciality in this restaurant and as simple as that I obviously had to get them. So far these were the best Takoyakis I had in Germany but they are a rare species to begin with. Unfortunately I have one major complaint. The Takoyakis were not fresh and hot. They came out very fast which is surprising considering how long it usually takes to make them. I can only assume they were pre-prepared and finished to order. You could argue that I took pictures but I only needed about 5 minutes for that and all the Takoyakis I had in Japan still burned my mouth even after that time. These here were warm and could be eaten as a whole which I would never do in Japan! SERVICE Lovely service. The staff also explained the different Takoyaki variants on your plate at the table. ATMOSPHERE Small and simple restaurant. I decided to sit at a table outside because I felt it was nothing special. RATING If my Takoyakis were hot and "fresh" it would have taken me back to Japan instantly. I think when you put an item on the front of your menu, you should give it your best even if the customer has to wait. I will gladly wait thirty minutes or longer for hot and fresh Takoyakis. They still get my recommendation!

When a friend of mine raved about sushi in Berlin, I'd be lying if I told you that I wasn't skeptical. Sushi and Berlin, in my mind, don't exactly go quite as nicely as peanut butter and jelly. In other words, the two don't exactly go hand in hand. Boy, I couldn't have been more wrong. Kuchi is a little gem on Kanstrasse. We arrived prior the dinner rush, and were quickly escorted to our seats. The lighting in the restaurant was rather subdued, which I found created such a pleasantly calm atmosphere. Insider's tip? This would be a great date spot. The waiters and waitresses were just the right amount of attentive. And now onto bigger and better things--the sushi. Coming from a Los Angeles native, I really do have to say that the sushi was absolutely on point for the price. We ordered the sushi platter for 3, and let's just say that they were far more generous than I had expected. The portion was enough for two relatively hungry guys, and one slightly peckish girl. The sashimi was great quality, and most importantly, fresh, and the rolls were very flavorful and nicely wrapped. The only roll I couldn't have cared less for was the cucumber roll--but then again, who ever likes the cucumber roll...The presentation was great, and to be totally honest, I'm not quite sure if it was the company or the food, but the dining experience overall was absolutely solid. I only wish that I remembered what rolls exactly came with our platter, or how much exactly we each had to fork up, but I guess that's indication of a great dining experience, is it not? When you willingly open up your wallet post meal and dump anything and everything you have onto the bill, you know that the food was good. For the sake of a more comprehensive review, I'll head back and give the platter a second go...definitely don't mind if I do, and neither will you! Definitely a place worth checking out if you're in the area, and even if you're not!
