Everyone made me feel at home and I loved sipping on a glass of the house red (do it) while watching people walk by and listening to music. The food was delicious and fresh. I had the caprese with sweat tomatoes and generous mozzarella. I also had the tagliolini with shrimp and it was flavorful and tasted handmade. I highly recommend!

An excellent and deservedly popular Italian located on the delightful Viktoria Luise Platz…read more The restaurant has a small outside eating area at the front, but a much larger dining room inside which stretches a long way back. The decor has a motorcycling theme, with half a dozen bikes on display, and lots of posters, photographs and trophies. (I gather this reflects the chef's passion.) The food is traditionally Italian; there's a limited selection of pasta, a choice of around a dozen pizzas, but most people were enjoying traditional meat and fish dishes as mains. Our group of four had an excellent meal: starters of calamari, mixed salad, and mozzarella and tomato salad were followed by linguine with clams, porcini and saffron risotto and tagliatelle with meatballs. Portions were generous and the quality was outstanding. (Best risotto in years.) Two courses with beer and water can to €160 for four, including service. Service was friendly and they speak reasonable English, alongside German and Italian. Definitely worth a visit but it is best to book as they're packed, even on Mondays.

This may be one of the better Italian restaurants in Berlin but as someone who's lived in Florence and now lives in San Francisco, I would counsel to not raise your expectations. I started with one of my favorites, vitello tonnato (hardly a commonly found appetizer). It was good but not great. The lasagna was my main. This was disappointing. I ate about half before thinking, "what's the point of all these additional calories?" My dinner partner (from Los Angeles) felt about the same as I. Our bottle of Barbera (recommended by the waiter) was fine. Service was ok but a bit frantic. The place was packed. The motorcycle theme is charming. Cash only. We were told three times, "Cash only!"

I also received one bruschetta and a bowl of olives on the house (Fact worth mentioning - I learned to eat olives there! :)). My tomato soup was delicious as good as the chef's spaghetti with mushroom and beef. The interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated. One very important note - there are no disturbing noises coming from the outside (there is a railway station). Very kind surprise, even for a foreigner.

Italian is one of my favorite cuisines, and I've been to Italy, but I must say, the Spaghetti Carbonara I had here was the absolute best I've had anywhere in the world! Pizzas are very popular here, and the lasagna is also really great. The prices were pretty good considering the other spots we had been eating in downtown Berlin. This is a leisurely place, so don't expect speedy service, and that's okay!

Delicious bread, olives, salad, and pasta - we tried Lasagne and Ravioli with spinach and ricotta in walnut cream/sage sauce. After all that I was very much looking forward to the Tiramisu, but was disappointed with it. The sponge cake wasn't moist enough and the ladyfingers didn't have any alcohol taste, so there was nothing to "cut" the creamy sensation. Well, I will still go back for the bread and salad, and try another pasta dish.
