It was fairly full on a Tuesday for lunch so we had to sit by the front door. The menu is fairly simple and includes specialty sandwiches, salads and soups, a couple desserts and not much else. For as large as this space is, you would think they would serve more food items. Maybe their kitchen is just very small, not sure. The server indicated many of their sandwiches are steamed. I tried one of their sandwiches, the casa grande without olives, with a side (potato salad) and a homemade banana pudding. Sandwich - this is a pretty good sandwich that is moist due to the steaming and a lot of mustard and mayo. They also forgot to take off the olives though. Potato salad - their version is like a German potato salad with some skin showing and plenty of mustard as the base. The problem was it was too chunky with a chunk of potato the size of my fist. This is just too big to bite. Banana pudding - pretty good but very sweet My colleague's sandwich was decent too, but he also had a problem with some soggy bread. The service was decent as both our soft drinks were refilled promptly. Mondays amd Tuesdays are semi slow and they close at 3; however, other days are much busier with live music mostly on Fridays and occasional Saturdays.

I sat at the bar and the first thing I had to do was ask the bartender to wipe down the area because there were multiple areas in front of me where previous patrons had sat their drinks (there were no coasters or napkins placed anywhere on the tables or bar by the way). I ordered the fish and chips which came out reasonably soon. The server placed a napkin with a fork and spoon folded inside. I asked for a knife and he replied,"that might be a problem, because they were all in the back being cleaned." Really??!!! On a Wednesday night with a near empty restaurant? I, for one, do not use my finger to push food around on my plate The fish and chips arrived and the fish was nice and hot from the fryer. The chips (fries) were barely warm. Not impressed.

Have been wanting to try this place for a few months and finally the opportunity arose. I looked up…read morethe menu online, had a good idea of what we wanted before going but still had an open mind. Went on a Wednesday evening, place was deserted at 6pm - not exactly a great indicator, but sure enough, as soon as we were seated, other parties started to arrive. Our waiter was super sweet and was quick to take drink orders. One curious thing - he had to scour for a drink menu (beers, cocktails, etc...). If we were the only party there, why would you have a shortage of menu's? We ordered: street corn appetizer, pork belly burnt ends, brisket plate with baked potato and salad, rib plate with baked beans and salad and the texas twinkies. The server didn't ask what kind of dressing I wanted for salad so I had to follow up my order with the type of dressing I wanted. Interestingly enough, the waiter didn't ask the other party who also ordered salad what type of dressing they wanted, even after I had to specify mine. Food arrived quickly and smelled delicious. Biggest problem - the baked potato arrived smothered in butter and sour cream. Having not been asked about toppings, I assumed it would be bare with toppings on the side. Nope. Not so much. Requested new potato. Ribs were good, beans were good but very sweet. Corn plate was good - albeit small portions. The brisket was more fat than edible meat. Very poor cuts - they should have been embarrassed to have plated it. But the biggest disappointment of the evening was the texas twinkies. Online and on the menu, it states that they are jalapeno's stuffed with cream cheese and brisket, wrapped in bacon and basted with bbq sauce. Except there was NOT A BIT OF BRISKET to be had. When I pointed it out to the server, he asked where I had read there was meat in them because to the best of his knowledge, they had never contained meat. No offer to remake, comped or anything. Just "huh...thats weird". He even pulled a menu out and goes "hmmm yeah, you're right". All in all..pretty basic bbq here. Good service - just remember to be very specific with your orders otherwise they will assume and you might not want what they assume LOL!
