Good food, great service. Amazing atmosphere in here at lunch. Fun decor and original brick walls.

I stopped by with a colleague on a recent business trip and missed the part of the sign above the restaurant where it shows the word "brick" so I had to drive around the block a 2nd time to even locate the place. It was fairly full on a Tuesday for lunch so we had to sit by the front door. The menu is fairly simple and includes specialty sandwiches, salads and soups, a couple desserts and not much else. For as large as this space is, you would think they would serve more food items. Maybe their kitchen is just very small, not sure. The server indicated many of their sandwiches are steamed. I tried one of their sandwiches, the casa grande without olives, with a side (potato salad) and a homemade banana pudding. Sandwich - this is a pretty good sandwich that is moist due to the steaming and a lot of mustard and mayo. They also forgot to take off the olives though. Potato salad - their version is like a German potato salad with some skin showing and plenty of mustard as the base. The problem was it was too chunky with a chunk of potato the size of my fist. This is just too big to bite. Banana pudding - pretty good but very sweet My colleague's sandwich was decent too, but he also had a problem with some soggy bread. The service was decent as both our soft drinks were refilled promptly. Mondays amd Tuesdays are semi slow and they close at 3; however, other days are much busier with live music mostly on Fridays and occasional Saturdays. read more

Stopped in here for a quick bite on a weekday night. Decided to split a sandwich with my BF and I'm glad we did because it was a decent size. The whole vibe of the place is very laid back and there was even a live musician playing. It wasn't terribly busy since it was during a holiday weekend -- I'm sure on a regular night it's a lot more active. It definitely seems to be a popular spot in downtown Decatur though. Well, I've been to this location twice now and it seems I really do just feel "meh" about it. I wanted to try it again after the first mediocre experience since the reviews were so great, but I think I stand by my opinion. This deli is in downtown Decatur. Despite being downtown, I think parking is fairly plentiful and accessible, though ymmv. It's a fairly large restaurant with a pretty heavy bar/tavern feel. Menu items are mostly soups and sandwiches, with a few exceptions. The decorations are kind of cute, with some Decatur-themed things (like a poster-sized Monopoly space advertising the deli itself). I've found the clean level acceptable but not astonishing on my visits. Service is okay. Despite a fairly long delay between my visits, I think I had the same waitress twice. She was nicer the second time -- first time I felt sort of like I was burdening her. You seat yourself and it can take several minutes before someone comes by to check on you, even when not terribly busy. Once you're noticed, I felt both times a little rushed to place my order and pay, though that could be because I arrived around 1:45 and they close at 3. Still plenty of time to eat and scoot imo but I get it. Both times, I got the half sandwich and soup option because I like that portion size for lunch. I also got the chicken "la la" (enchilada) soup as my soup, and I will say this is the best thing I've tried there. A little spicy, a little creamy, lots of beans and corn. It's solid! The soup comes with a square of jalapeño cornbread, which on both visits was quite cold and very dry. Crumbling it on the soup helps if you're into that but I kind of like the soup on its own. For sandwiches, I've tried their take on a grilled cheese as well as the "Smokey Joe," which has smoked turkey, cheese, thousand island, lettuce, and bacon. No tomatoes for me. Both sandwiches were FINE, but not any better than what you could make at home quite comfortably. I get that sometimes you want something simple fairly quickly, but I was just a little disappointed. The turkey sandwich in particular had decent flavor but was constructed such that the sourdough bread was sopping wet and disintegrating by about bite two, which made it very hard to eat. The bacon was also very disappointing, thin and not very crispy. Again, nothing particularly bad here, but not a place I'd really go out of my way to return to. If I come back, I'll continue trying different sandwiches to find one that suits me. read more

Fairly busy with some sort of youth Baseball tournament in town and the staff was running full blast. Our server was outstanding and apologized for the wait. Good selection of food, the cold club sandwich was my choice and it didn't disappoint. Nice selection of craft beers. First visit, came here for lunch and the place was packed. Had to grab an open seat at the bar. It is a full bar with several draft offerings and a couple TVs for your viewing enjoyment. Bartender was busy, but ultimately, service ended up being adequate. I ordered the Thompson turkey Reuben with a side of potato salad. Solid sandwich with good flavors, potato salad was excellent. Yelp suggested this space to me; and, from the reviews and photos, my husband and I decided that we needed to give this place a shot! We were headed that direction the other day and made it a pint to add Brick Deli as a stop on our journey. I'm so glad we did! The food was excellent as hell and other reviewers has promised! Came here for lunch. Everything was fantastic! My friend got a spicy bloody Mary and she said it was really good. For lunch, I ordered the downtown hoagie and my friend ordered rob's rib eye sandwich. We then gave each other half. Both sandwiches were delicious! I would order either one again. For an upcharge you can get a cup of soup. I got the chicken la la. It was delicious! My friend got the cheese soup and she really liked it. If I lived here, I would come here all the time. There were so many sandwiches to choose from and all looked delicious! I ordered the club which had the perfect ratio of meat to bread to cheese. It was excellent. The potato soup was good but a little on the bland side. A sharper cheese & a little more bacon could kick it up a notch. I wish wish wish this place had some fries or onion rings for a side and maybe a few appetizers. Came here for lunch during the week. It was really busy when we arrived, but cleared up a bit as we ate. It's "seat yourself," which we don't really prefer since it can lead to being overlooked. That was kind of the case when we went. Once we found a table, it took awhile to get our drinks ordered. A table that came in 5-10 minutes after us got their drinks a couple minutes before we did. Food was decent. I got the American Club with a side salad and my husband got the Beef and Cheddar Melt with potato soup. My club was good and the ingredients tasted fresh. I liked that the side salad wasn't just lettuce like some restaurants do. The salad had lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, broccoli, and cauliflower. They use Ken's ranch dressing, too, which is a plus. My husband really liked his sandwich (he said it reminded him of an Arby's sandwich) and the potato soup. The sweet tea was decent. My only complaint was that the service leaves a bit to be desired. This place is excellent for family and fun. The front part of the restaurant is mostly family. The back of the place is for pool-playing and smaller groups. I have NEVER been let down there! They remember you and genuinely care. It's a CHEERS type bar. Gives you that happy place feeling! They offer local talent who take requests.
