Came by as it was right next to my cool hotel @ Decatur, AL. We've all heard the C D'Elia jokes :) Was craving another BMary , it Y'd me. Casual & Relaxed on the inside. Quick take: decent prices, friendly service, good drinks, average food, will come back....at some point $2.99 domestic bottles for happy hour. Wife got a margarita she enjoyed. She loved the grilled chicken in the chicken broccoli pasta because it was tender. I liked it but not as much as other places. The alfredo sauce was bland, not bad, but just not great. The Caesar salad was decent but something was a little off with the taste. May have been the dressing. The sirloin steak was decent, just slightly overdone. Nothing I wanted to complain about. It was decent. The server was friendly. The inside was nice, seemed a little outdated for these chain restaurants, like maybe 2005-2010ish but wasn't bad. I usually don't mess with chain restaurant reviews because well you know what you're getting but Applebees does have great lunch prices and tasty meals. One thing they do well are burgers...It's hard to beat theirs. We know the decor and ambiance is dated we can all agree there. My husband and I went for Mother's Day, May 10, 2026. We waited to be seated which was fine. They offered a high top which we said we did want so she was taking us to a booth and the waitress stated in front of us that she did not want anybody else as she was full. I stated that since there is no seats that we would be glad to go somewhere else but we were told it was fine, so we were seated and told by the hostess that our waitress would be there in a moment and she said that they was short handed. We waited but the waitress never came over to see what to drink or if we knew our order. We noticed that same waitress that said she did not want anyone else kept looking at us. After we waited for 15 minutes we noticed that a couple that had just been seated was being waited on, so my husband and I got up and left. I guess Applebees did not need our business. read more

I first came here 9 months ago and service was piss poor (due to staffing) Food portions were skimpy and poorly made and service from the kitchen was incredibly slow. I decided to give this place one more chance after the lousy food and service I got here on Veterans Day 2023 and it was almost as bad as the last time. It's my humble opinion that this is The WORST RESTAURANT IN ALABAMA and Management should be immediately fired and replaced with someone who has a clue about how to run a restaurant because whoever is running it now doesn't have a clue and if it hasn't Improved in 9 months it won't. This was my second time to this establishment. I come to Decatur for work every so often. I came in on a Monday as NOTHING in this city seems to stay open past 9pm. Even the restaurant/bar at my hotel closed at 9:30, but I digress. I went to the bar so I could eat and watch the NCAA basketball finals. I was greeted by the waitress within 90 seconds. I ordered a beer, got it immediately. She gave me a menu, and came back and checked on me in 3-5 mins. I placed my order (whiskey BBQ burger). I started my stop watch to see how long it would take. I got my food in 17 mins and 14 secs. Not that fast, but I wasn't in a rush. The food was good, burger was cooked a little more than I would have liked. Also the burger was a little too oniony for me. It had onion straws and raw onions on the bottom. I think the onion straws are enough. Fries were good, overall it was a good meal. Kimberly was the bartender and she was great. If food had come out faster (and the burger had less onions) I'd have given it 4 stars. Also what a I assume was a former employee was at the bar drinking and being a little loud. The reason I think she was a former employee was because she went in the kitchen and talked trash. And when the bartender walked away she used the phone behind the bar. Overall a good experience, not great, not bad, but good. I'm sure I'll come back at some point. read more

Service. Period. I don't even know where to begin. 3 adults. One 2 yr old. We get drink order took in "about" 15 min from sitting down. Also put in order for appetizer. Having a 2 yr old u want something to nibble on while waiting on main food. One drink comes, ordered frozen but came on the rocks and had to send back. My daughter literally done with her drink before my correct drink ever made it to table. After drinks finally arrive the server take orders after way too long of time. Long story short, at an hour and 30 min i stopped the server to ask to please cancel the appetizer since it wouldn't make it before the meals apparently and to please put our food in to go boxes because at this point our behaved 2 yr old was growing rather restless. We never have issues with him eating out but we had been there so long and still not a bite brought to us. She said okay. After they threw them in to go containers (because they could literally been seen they just threw the meals in there) they brought us them to us then the check for the full $80. Mind you now, we didn't get to eat a bite there in our hour and 45 min visit. I am not sure if it was the servers, the kitchen, but we are highly disappointed with our local Applebees. Other tables were highly dissatisfied as well and we saw 2 tables get up and walk out before their food arrived. I don't blame them! We were so hungry we really wanted to eat there tho! My children and I went and ate at the beltine location in Decatur and aside from the waitress everything else was not very good.I had to send my burger back twice first time undercooked second time had paper stuck to my hamburger patty it was cooked on it. lost my appetite ..The manager gave me 8.00 off a meal that's cost much more than that and gave me a card with a 10 voucher next time I come I asked for it to be applied to the ticker right then she declined I'm sorry I plan on not returning so it is useless to me. Saturday night you'd think gonna be the time they'd be on the A game. We came in with a large party (six adults and five children) which I understand can be a challenge but not seeing the waitress for 20 minutes after taking our orders is insane. Me and my buddy had beers to drink. I ended up going to the bar to get another for us after waiting for forever for the waitress and even the bartender never even acknowledged me standing there. It was not very busy either. Luckily the waitress came out to check on her other table (there was only us and one other table in her section) with two guests and still never came to our table. I caught her at the kiosk and asked for more drinks. I had the 12oz ribeye with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The broccoli was still raw and the steak was about 3/8" thick. Pitiful. Waffle-house has better steaks. But I digress. The service was absolutely pitiful. Others seemed to be ok with their meals. We will never be back. Even if it were free. read more

They screwed up an old recipe. They changed the Blondie recipe. Man, someone in corporate ALWAYS has to run it into the ground. When Ruby Tuesday started "drizzling" toppings on deserts they ended up screwing up the profitability in many other ways. Then the shutdowns followed later. Applebee's is headed that way. We entered the restaurant and waited about 3 minutes before we were even greeted by anyone. There was no one waiting ahead of us when we were finally acknowledged and brought to be seated the table we were brought to still had plates on it. We walked around the restaurant to find a table to sit and were seated. As we sat it took several minutes for a waitress to come to the table to ask about drinks. I ordered a steak medium rare and when it came out it was medium well to well done. The smoked ravioli had a good taste but cold. The breadstick was good as well. The restaurant smelled musky and dirty which I've found is an issue with Applebee's in other places. May be the carpet. I will not visit this establishment or any other Applebee's again. read more

Very nice waitress. Doing all she could but after an hour of waiting for a sandwich and appetizer and people getting food that were seated 20 minutes after us we left. I know the waitress and cooks probably doing all the can. Not a good experience but not their fault either. The restaurant was not crowded and we were seated quickly but downhill after that. Took the family to eat the other night. Waiter completely skipped me when taking drink orders. Strike 1 I ordered a beer. Took me like 20 minutes to get it. Bartender was not busy. I think my server just didn't put it in based on later experience. Strike 2 Put in our food order and all was going well with appetizers. Group of 5 adults. Food was good as aspected, service was great, Keshi kept drinks filled never had to wait on more drinks. Wish all experiences were this good when going out to eat. The absolute worse service I've ever had at a restaurant. I'm guessing COVID-19 in just giving people an excuse to be lazy. I walked in Saturday night around 6:15 maybe 10 people in the entire restaurant and about that many employees, walked to a high top table. I noticed the bar was completely empty as were most of the high tops. Bartender looked at me said I could sit there. 10 minutes later no one. The four kids/ waiters standing by the door nothing...: bartender never looked up again. So I said five more minutes. A little after 6:30 I was heading somewhere else. My son ordered a club sandwich I ordered a full rack of ribs. Service was excellent, food came very fast. Nothing special about the club sandwich. The ribs were not the tender falling off the bone kind but they were tasty. They have a choice of sauce for the ribs and I chose the spicy Asian sauce. It was very good, sweet with a little kick at the end. The spiciness creeps on you and is felt more on the second half of the rack. read more

Clean restaurant, cheap drinks, decent food, with great service. For an Applebee's, I was impressed.

I ordered the fish and chips from Applebee's and it was to be delivered by Uber Eats. The status of my order kept changing from the driver was there to pick it up to they were still working on it, to finally it was on its way. Then I was sent a message that my driver had another order to deliver before mine.. When I got my order the fries were cold and the skin on my fish was soggy. My order was missing the Cole slaw and lemon. I have contacted Uber Eats and they refuse to give me my money back. They talking about they got intouch with the merchant so they can update their menu. It's has nothing to do with the menu. I have eaten there before and the fish and chips was good. I live on a fix income so, I have to make every penny count. I wasted twenty-six dollars and some change. I will never use Uber Eats or eat at Applebee's again. I even gave the driver a tip. This Applebee's is located in Decatur Alabama on the beltline. read more
