It's a quirky little place that has a one-alley drive-through and a walk-up window and no dine-in. Why did I say alley? Because it looks like a one-alley oil lube place. So much so that to this day, folks drive through and ask how much is an oil change even though all they have is great food and a few sundries! I think it's partly related to their name! So how did they reinvent themselves? Up until about two years ago they were famous for selling case beer. You would pop your trunk and a guy would drop the case right in. You never had to get out of your car. For some reason they quit selling beer to focus on other things. Up until about a year ago they had great food but no fries and this was a major complaint they had to deal with. They fixed this and now they have huge portions of wonderful, glorious skin-on fries! So now you come here for fantastic breakfast sandwiches, great burgers, pulled pork sandwiches and fries. Of course, drinks. On my last visit I ordered a cheeseburger and fries @ $8.87. I'm embarrassed by the picture as there was a huge, juicy, hand-formed burger under there! There were even more fries, but I scoffed some down on the way home! So, you can blow through here for breakfast or lunch and have a great sandwich and patronize a local business at the same time! It doesn't get much better than that!

I was on a snack run and stopped into this very nice and spotless facility. It's usually staffed by just one person and they have always been great! There were tons to choose from and every code I looked at was waaay longer then I needed. My small pile of snacky stuff cost me a whole $6. I would have paid double or triple that at normal retail! Obviously, these folks are Tastykakes and there are mountains of them to choose from. They have several locations in Central Florida and are definitely worth a stop if you have the munchies!

I strapped that baby on and moseyed on down to check it out! Arriving- It's on Avon Park's Main Street about a minute from US Route 27 and simple to find. There is a small parking lot complete with easy access for those needing a handicapped spot. Ambience- This is one of the most beautifully merchandised stores I've seen in some time. It's spotlessly clean and meticulously arranged. It was a true pleasure to wander around and check everything out. My pictures do not do it justice! Customer Service- I was greeted by a delightful young lady who expertly answered all of my questions. Unfortunately, she was unimpressed with my giant Yelp belt buckle, but I didn't hold that against her! Product- You come here for western clothes and accessories. Hats, boots, belts, shirts, and jeans. It's all there and so beautifully organized, it's easy to find your size. I'd say they are a mid-priced store. This place is a few miles outside of town and truly fell off the edge of the end of the world. The chances of you stopping in as you drive by to give it a try are about zero. It's clearly a local's place. I stopped by around lunchtime and walked into a "kuriky" combination of low-end convenience store, low-end sub shop and dive bar. The store is clearly focused on grabbing a six pack and a bag of snacks and maybe a smoke. Other than that, not so much. The sub menu is a pale imitation of the one posted here three years ago. There are many less choices. I had a roast beef sub with two choices of cheese and very few choices of veges and dressings. It was served on an ice-cold roll. It was the kind of food I call fuel. Filling but that's it! The small dive bar was more divey than most and was very dark. I was the only one there. The saving grace of my visit was the wonderful manager/bartender! This lady was a delightful conversationalist! I munched on my meh sub and washed it down with a bottle of Corona for less than $10. You really need to manage your expectations here. I'm going with two stars because other than the scintillating conversation, this place is a pass.

This tiny little place is right on Route 27 northbound and has the wildly imaginative name of Liquor 27! Atmosphere- It really is a tiny little place and is just getting going. The day I was there the carpenters were still building his cooler so no cold beer yet but it's on the way. I perused the several short aisles and walls of booze. Everything was spotless despite the construction. The Product- The shelves were heavy on the hard liquor and light on wine. This was clearly not the place for buying a bottle of grape. There is also a full selection of lottery and the charge card machine was up and running. My spies had told me the prices were great, so I decided on a test that I had pre approved by 7 statisticians! I bought one bottle of Baileys Irish Cream and it cost me $19.99. I immediately went across the street to a big giant FL chain grocery store that everyone knows. Baileys there was $26.99. Whoa, that got my attention! I then went down the street to the enormous, humongous big-box store that is everywhere. There, Baileys was $20.97. So, it's seems clear that based on my awesomely scientific test that his prices are great! For those of us that prefer to patronize privately owned places as opposed to chains and need a hard liquor buzz, this place will get the job done.

The back wall, stock room the ceiling and above the meat cooler is full of mold. Not to mention thick brown grease slides the walls. This place has not had a working exhaust fan for months. The owners will change the dates on meats and Cubans. Will not allow dates to be places on deli items such as potato salad, banana puddings. Meat, bad meat, pulled from meat case, stored in the deli for the next day to use as lunch. Food cooked, served In a hot bar, then saved for next day or days. Owners will run the register, then serve you food with out taking the time to wash their hands. Serving food to customers with no hair nets and a baby hanging off of a hip. Owners charge you if you drop something from the shelve and it breaks. He won't tell you that you are being charged, but you will be. The out side smoker grill has not been thoroughly cleaned since Scott owned the store 2 years + ago. The bottom of the smoker still has rotting food, bones and corn husks cooked well over a year ago. Uses food stamps to allow customers to buy beer and ciggs. Doesn't allow real bleach to be used. Dishes are always greasy, kitchen is nasty. Aprons and rags are used, but not cleaned. Cobbwebbs everywhere. The feed shed smells of urine and rotting rats. Feed bags and hay are covered with feces.. and rat droppings. Their baby chews and slobbers on items that are put back on the shelf for sale. Owners are clueless and RUDE. They talk bad bout anyone and everyone. Definitely NOT helping the community with anything. Say they are not ' A charity" Highest prices around.. bad meat, rotten food, rude owners, and if you mention how high the prices are, they will tell you to go and not come back. The only reason they have had any success in staying open is due to the employees they have or had who stood with them, helped them, showed them and worked extra hard for that local business owner. Only to have them treat employees like trash. What they don't realize is that Norma and Jr. Are the actual back bone of Fowlers. But they treat them like they are nobody's. How's that for your friendly, working man's neighborhood grocery store.

I don't need a laundromat very often but it's nice to have one nearby in case of an emergency or if I have really large stuff to wash. It might be missing the models and the open bar but it's a really nice facility! Arriving- It's on US 27 South with a nice big parking lot. It's very close to the DDs if you need a caffeine and/or sugar fix. There is a great Mexican restaurant next door. Lots of fast food within sight if that's what you're craving. Ambience- It's brand spanking new so everything is spotless. There are numerous washers and dryers in many different sizes. A normal load takes 35 minutes and can be dried in 20 minutes. That's fast! Customer Service- A very nice attendant showed me around and answered all my questions. Cost- Right now they are cash only. Of course, there are machines to give you change. Coming soon are charge cards and even pay by phone. A wash and dry in regular sized machines will cost you $5-$6. The bigger machines will cost you more as they should. Conclusion- This is now the best, most versatile laundromat in the area, and it has AC! It may not have lingerie models as attendants and an open bar but it's still a great place to get your laundry done!
