My representative called me for a pre-screening interview and could hardly speak English and spoke so flippin fast. Pre-screening interviews are recorded to send to employers. She was having such a hard time communicating with me and couldn't even find the phrase for "time gap" so she asked about my experience over and over and over and over again, making me insanely confused. I also told her my time gaps consisted of selling baked goods with family and babysitting (under the table jobs), and she STILL insisted on giving information regarding the babysitting and baking jobs before we continue. Had I spoken to a real employer, they would accept "under the table jobs" and move on, but this woman seemed to want to pull so much information out of me, that I was starting to wonder if this service is a scam for our bank or social security information or something. This company does not help. Should instead be stress- mates because that's what they provided for me. read more

I got placed by Helpmates years ago and it was working for a company I had been trying to get into for a while. Although temporary it was cool.... Until... I had to restart my hours due to the fiscal end, so the hours I worked, did not count, this was not told to me when signing up, I should have had to work the 1000 hours then been done with it. Nope, I was stuck and this was a definate blow to me of all the work I did did not count. Then after my time was over and I was looking for work again, I went to helpmates. This time, in 2024, compared to 2018, there was no care, no call back, no interest. I even wrote to the manager that I had worked with before to let her know of this, and she seemed to take it to heart and wanted to help me, instead she just transferred my info to another helpmates and I heard nothing back. Yes I typically have been on to follow up and call, but when I tried that and got the run around I just kind of lost my energy to do so. read more

This company is getting one star because they left a flyer on the passenger side window of my car. That means I have to drive around looking at it and then try to remember to grab it when I get out again. Beside the fact that windshield fliers are bad for the environment because people throw them on the ground, this company obviously does not do a good job of training their staff if they have not instructed their staff to place the flyer on the driver's side. read more

Don't come here. At all. Take your experience and resume to the staffing agency Adecco--who are more responsive and go out of their way to secure an assignment for you regardless of your experience. I came here with a friend about a month ago. Provided a resume and was matched to an assignment. Did an interview and was told to wait a few days while they reached out to the client. So, I call 3 days later and got directly in contact with the individual who interviewed me. "Oh, let me reach out to the client again! Sorry! It gets so hectic here! If I don't call or email you, just call back tomorrow." Well...uh...I was doing so for the past few weeks. Ended up getting a job as a permanent hire through Adecco recently, same position, and at a WAY better hourly rate than Helpmates was willing to pay. Helpmates...HELPmates. (???) Why is the word "help" even in their name? They don't help anyone who is willing to work. Now that I think back on it, I now know why the receptionist kept asking me for my name when I would call. This is their way of preparing to ignore you with a few words. They won't even respond to your email(s), but are so engaged in communication with it when they want you to come in for an interview. The job is still there, has even been updated regularly on both their main site and Indeed. Why would you guys waste my time coming in for an interview and then cut off communication right after? The friend who I came in with got a job within a week--unfortunately, they terminated her assignment three weeks into it because she'd verbally defended herself against bullies at the workplace she was placed at. When she tried to go and see if she could get sent into another assignment, they told her she couldn't come back to the agency anymore. Adecco is where it's at people. Helpmates won't help you...unless you can help their pockets. read more

So I reached out, was told to contact their director of operations. Called, left a voicemail, and he responded the next day. A three minute phone call in which he says "Well, unfortunately your recruiter is no longer with the company and we have to go by the note that she left. So we are unable to work with you again. Sorry." And he hung up. Found out recently that an app I had on my iPhone at the time both recorded and transcribed the phone call of that very same recruiter and I speaking and formally ending my assignment. "You did the right thing by calling me versus just not showing up at all. I'm going to go ahead and end your assignment and refer you over to my colleagues at the Cypress location." Those were her exact words. I now wouldn't recommend Helpmates. I've had more success with Adecco. And for the pay I was receiving with my first assignment with Helpmates, I am paid over $20 as a temp through Adecco for the exact same work. read more

This is an ok agency however I still can't figure out why they ended my assignment less than 3 weeks in. I was always there on time ready to work. They ended up giving me some bull shit reason. I think I was doing fine at that company and sometimes it takes time for people to learn everything at a company. I actually really enjoyed the job they sent me to. This place is a joke and a waste of time. Read all this before you do business with them. I'll start from the beginning. I call helpmates and they instruct me to fill out some information online. I fill it out, they call back and send an email with more info to fill out so of course I do that. I come in for my appointment and the agitated receptionist tells me I have not filled out any of the necessary information I was sent. unfortunately I had to spend 30 more minutes in their office doing everything I had just done again. took me twice as long using their Stone Age computers. I finally finish the app and the I have an interview with Diana who was great. they told me they would be in touch with job openings. 1 week no call from helpmates so I make a call to them. Turns out Diana, the only person working on my file has gone on a week long vacation and Jonathan offered to help me out. This is where it gets bad. Jonathan told me he did not have my resume even though I had emailed it to them and left them with a physical copy. Once I let him know that he should have it he took an attitude an said, I can't just waive a magic wand and make your resume appear!" he said we could re-input all my info over the phone for a 3rd time or wait for a week for Diana to get back. his attitude and tone was so rude I was forced to terminate the call prematurely. got a call one month later about a job opening lmfao. had I relied on them I would have been unemployed for 5 weeks read more

There is nothing helpful about Helpmates staffing. I called and checked in regularly for a whole year straight and every time was told there were no jobs that would be a fit for me. Finally I see a job that is a good fit for me on the website and I apply for it. By the time I get a hold of someone there I'm told that the company is already in its final stages of interviewing and it's not going to work out. So I ask if they can find me something similar and they say no because my professional references are not current enough, even though I offered to supply them with contacts from any of the jobs I've had in the last 15 years. Most temp agencies in general do very little to stay in contact and find you a position, but Helpmates actually goes out of their way to find excuses why they can't help you. They made me pass math tests, typing tests, drug tests, and watch safety videos and then put zero effort into getting me an interview. The women working there are also just not friendly or approachable in their deminor. Don't waste your time and effort with this company. Ultimate Staffing on the other hand has always been very friendly and helpful, even when they don't have a position for you. They don't make you feel unwelcome and judged like Helpmates does. read more

Worst staffing EVER! Fany Sent me and my boyfriend to an assignment, but she didn't give us a time card to clock in or clock out! Which she knew we had to have them to even enter the premises! During our lunch break we had to leave due to a family emergency, but since fany didn't gives us a time card we couldn't notify are supervisor that we had to leave or even clock out ! So the next morning I called the office to let her know what happened she told me that are checks we're ready to pick up and that they no longer going to help us !! read more
