This experience will forever change how I trust. So the head women Roslyne, would not allow fiancé and I to leave to go to appointments we needed. During times we needed are scheduled medication. No one was available to give us medication that we brought in with us. they took are medication from us. And then we missed scheduled meds and got sick. Very unprofessional. We were seeking a sober living. this place advertises counseling help with job seeking. It does not it's a scam. they are trying to get money. It is a way for them to pay their bills. They wanted money right away. I told them over the phone my situation which was I was in Treatment seeking sober living. I hadn't had any work or any money. They assured me I could start working and pay later the very second day I woke up they asked for money. When I said I had none the women known as "sis" was mean mad I did not have money. We were starving. There is no food. they made us work for rent moving furniture from old tenants. Telling us she will work is someplace in he business. While working us, she would stand there and point and yelling where she wants items. While we're moving this she's talking about how ungrateful everyone how good for is y'all can't get things right she stated very verbally abusive. when you're coming from a place that we come from going into this was so scary when I asked to go to the Social Security office so I could take care of myself. She bullied me. She presented me with a fight and I only asked if I could go alone because I didn't feel comfortable with her she told me no and if I did go to the Social Security office, I was kicked out. I told her I had to go to this appointment. I went to my appointment came home and all of my belongings were outside. so I thought my $200 chi straightener was broken. Clothing of mine was not returned, and I only went with a few things. She kicked us out with no place to go and refuse to talk to us or respond to any text messages when I tried to make things right or even offer her money so that we were not on the street. Please be careful if you decide to go here.

I first heard about Marvin Gardens Center after reading an article in a SoCal newspaper…read morehighlighting their work in reentry support, and I wanted to see for myself what made them stand out. What impressed me most is how organized and genuinely supportive the program feels. Marvin Gardens Center provides clear guidance, helpful resources, and a sense of structure that is incredibly important for people transitioning back into society. You can tell this is a place that takes its mission seriously. Director Carl Duron deserves special recognition. His leadership shows in how smoothly everything runs and in the respectful way people are treated. It is rare to see a director who is both hands on and truly invested in positive outcomes, but that is clearly the case here. The environment feels focused, calm, and purposeful. Whether someone is looking for transitional housing resources, work release information, or simply direction during reentry, Marvin Gardens Center provides real help rather than empty promises. After seeing the article and experiencing the center firsthand, it is easy to understand why they receive positive attention. Marvin Gardens Center is doing meaningful work for the community, and it shows.
