We have used Helping Hands (Nelson) on many different occasions. A few years ago he repaired the ceiling of my son's bedroom and our upstairs hallway. Another time he painted the exterior of our home. It had some damage and needed repainting badly. He did a fantastic job! Now we are getting our house ready to sell and put on the market. The punch list we asked him to do was VERY long, but he has done a stellar job at helping us get this house ready to sell and at a SUPER reasonable price. The most recent repairs/ updates he and his associate, Asa, made to our home were: EXTENSIVE painting (ceilings as well), repairing and caulking crown molding, fixing exterior lights, installing new light fixtures, staining our deck, installing new closet doors on almost all our closets, and much more. We are so thankful for the work he and Asa have done to breathe new life into our home. I am a stay at home, homeschool mom. While our schedule is pretty flexible, Nelson is always communicative and respectful of our time. Even though we have a set schedule of when he is coming, Nelson takes the time to confirm with us that he will be doing work the next day. I even needed to reschedule at the last minute one day because I was not feeling well and he completely understood and was not bothered by the inconvenience to his schedule. Bottom Line: If there's a problem or something that needs to be repaired, the first person we call is Nelson. He is a hard worker and the quality of his work is phenomenal. Mr. Nelson Best represents a great company. His company Helping Hands Handyman Services is an illustration of how CUSTOMER SERVICE is still alive and well. The work he does is under full warranty and very affordable. My home was damaged (my gutters were torn down and a shutter fell off my home) by the tornadic winds the area experienced in the middle of November of this year. Mr. Nelson Best repaired everything for only $120. Wow! My home was under contract and ready to be sold, so this was a crisis, and I needed someone to drop everything same day and hurry to my home in order not to jeopardize the sale. Mr. Nelson Best assured me from the first call. that my issues would be taken care of and it was minor and not major repair. He personally called me when he began his trip to my home, and once before he arrived to say he would be there shortly. He has all the right equipment for all types of handyman repairs and behaves very business like while at the job. He wasted no time and did not take any breaks while completing the repair. I was putting my house up for sale and I needed the whole house painted inside and out, cracked drywall repaired, crown moulding caulked, doors rehung, electrical receptacles replaced and I also needed a large hole in my deck converted to a wooden planter. I contacted Helping Hands Handyman Service along with three other contractors to provide an estimates. Helping Hands (Mr. Nelson Best) provided the most reasonable and competitive estimate for all the work required and he could start within a week. Nelson and his associate showed up on time and immediately started repairing all the drywall, crown moulding and floor trim. When they finished painting my home and making all the additional repairs it looked great. My home really looked better that when it was new. I also had a large 9 x 3 ft. hole in my deck which looked horrible. Asa, Nelson's associate designed and built a planter that fit perfectly into the hole and my deck look great. Once I put my home up for sale I had a contract in less than 24 hours. I wasn't quite sure the words to put, but Yelp's 5 star "Woohoo! As good as it gets" says it all. Just over a week ago I woke up to a 2' * 3' stained and sagging ceiling. Everyone I consulted said I couldn't avoid having to remove and replace my tub that was leaking. All the plumbers also said that I wouldn't be able to avoid damage to my practically new tiles and floor. I was devastated as I'm moving soon and the last thing I could handle was a major bathrooom remodel. I called Nelson and knowing my predicament he and Asa came out as soon as they could. They assessed the problem and with some elbow grease, a new overflow seal, and recaulked drain the leak was repaired! I was so happy I literally cried. Today I came home to find the repair to the massive 3' * 6' hole (courtesy of the plumber) finished and painted to perfection. I'm one happy camper! This is the only repair service I know of whose work is consistently of the highest standard, done with a smile, and at a reasonable price. read more

I have used Nelson and Helping Hands Handyman services a few times. The first time, he re-grouted and re-caulked my shower. He did a great job, was super friendly, and was in and out in a short time. I was so pleased with his work, I called him back when I had a unique project that needed completed. I needed to install a glass observation bee hive in my store in Lake Ridge. I couldn't explain it well enough, so he came to the shop a few hours later to investigate. In a couple of hours, he had it mounted and installed. Not only is Nelson super talented, but he is also just a very pleasant and polite guy...super easy to deal with. I am so happy with the job he did (and has done in the past). Mr. Best has been to my home four different times completing a list of at least ten items each time. He is fully trustworthy and worked on my repairs while I was at work. He is professional and his work is meticulous and flawless. As well, his prices cannot be beat. I plan to hire him to do outside repairs. He is talented in many ways and will do everything from installing fans, building closet shelves, hanging pictures, etc. to making recommendations as needed. It is comforting to have faith in a gentleman whose aim is to provide top quality service at a fair and reasonable price. I highly recommend this company for service. read more

Women, do not hire NELSON BEST. He will enter your home, do decent work for you, and gain your trust. After you have allowed him into the most private parts of your home, he will come onto you. He will present himself as single, but he has a wife and child. He'll tell you he's never dated a client before. He will seem like he's trying to protect his online reputation. Well he should. It's so unprofessional to attempt a personal relationship with clients. He is a liar and an admitted alcoholic. Great service and workmanship. For simply jobs, Nelson is often able to give a rough quote of time needed to do the work over the phone. However, for more complex jobs, he takes the time to visit the site to inspect the work to be done so that he can provide the customer with a more exact quote. Nelson is very professional and trustworthy. I would have no issues with leaving him in my home if I need to run out to do an errand. I hired Helping Hands Handyman Services to paint the walls and ceiling in my foyer, living room, stairwell and hallway. The walls received two coats of paint and the ceiling one coat. Nelson's painting was meticulous. He carefully taped off the edges to give me the precise edge that I wanted. While he painted tarps were placed on the furniture and carpets. He was very respectful of my home and cleaned up carefully at the end of each day. He charged me $80 dollars an hour. He will accept a personal checks but does not accept credit cards. read more

I highly recommend Helping Hands Handyman. I have used Nelson for many projects around the home to get my house ready for sale. He painted several rooms including 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, up and down a stairwell with very high walls. He did a fantastic job and is extremely hard working.
