Let me start this out by saying I never thought I would have to be writing this review because of…read morethe funeral for my 6 year old Grandson. When my daughter had the unfathomable task to plan the funeral for her first born child she asked me to help her find the best funeral home in San Antonio. Without hesitation I replied, Porter Loring. I already knew the reputation that Porter Loring had of being compassionate and providing quality care for the deceased and the families of the deceased. They certainly lived up to their reputation. They took care of everything for my daughter and son-in-law and most of all they provided immaculate care for my Grandson. I want to recognize everyone at Porter Loring for the outstanding job they did for my entire family. From the funeral directors: Crystal G., Amy G., Daniel G., Barrett S., Marisa M. To the amazing care team: Lexi L., Elena M., Bethany J., Avery M., Claudia R., Danny G., Shawn R., Kaine C., Hector G., Jermaine A., Aubrey C., Tetiana D. Administrators: Kelsey H., Amy N., Cristina R., Amy D., Dina A. Service Associates: Glori R., Riley R., Louis L. This entire staff deserves recognition because they showed my family that we weren't just another family experiencing the loss of a loved one. They treated us like family and displayed the utmost professionalism I have ever witnessed. Thank you to everyone at Porter Loring for making this experience better than we could have ever imagined.

There is an old adage that states, "the only thing that is certain in life is death" As we grow…read moreolder, we tend to think more about death. A friend of mine often playfully says she's in the "2nd quarter" of life. Well, I can imagine when you get into the 3rd and 4th quarters of life, the notion of death becomes even more pronounced. No matter how many times we experience death with family, friends and colleagues, you never truly prepare for it. King-Tears provides mortuary services to honor your loved one in a meaningful way. Located in East Austin, King-Tears' facilities are well-maintained, peaceful and welcoming. The staff is strategically located at the front of building to receive flowers and plants. This week a close friend of mine celebrated her son's life at King-Tears mortuary. Her son started off having a cough, which developed into pneumonia. This young man was very healthy, active, and in the best shape of his life. Unfortunately, he contracted pneumonia and that is where it all went downhill. The pneumonia caused water to build in his lungs. Then things went spiraling out of control. Life can be abbreviated. It is important to put the first things as the first things. My friend son's death made me think about what is really important in life. My shortlist... 1) Celebrate your spouse, family and friends...every day! 2) Focus on what gives you joy. 3) Eliminate toxic relationships. 4) Be intentional with your time | Be present in all that you do. 5) Live your best life....NOW! 6) Forgive and move on. 7) Leave a legacy of kindness. The hubs and I gave a potted plant to the family to emphasize that life continues. The cost was not the emphasis but presenting a live, beautiful plant.

We looked upon king tears to take over to transport his remains back to California however it was not easy. Not only did the family not expect his death in the family but the staff was completely rude. Although our loved one had family in Texas we were unsure whether we were going to bury him there or in California ultimately we decided California which took some time for that decision and King -ears could not wait for an answer. The staff member Brandon Lanes not only was pushy and very aggressive in the decision making but also very rude. He was threatening family members that they would just have the county come pick up the remains and he will be buried in Potters Field and many others unprofessional statements. Whether it was an email or phone calls the staff was completely unprofessional and when dealing with this type of matter you would not expect in regards to this business. Their goal is clear and concise which is to collect payment and money but at the same time the business that they are in you need to show empathy and sympathy to those they serve. I wish that no one has to to go through these times with this business as I would not recommend them. As for the previous reviews that have been left seems to be spot on. This was truly a disappointing experience.
