We hired the Helpful Badger team when my husband and I realized we were out over our skiis. We wanted to replace a non-working medicine cabinet mirror with integrated LEDs with a regular medicine cabinet mirror. Seemed like an easy DIY swap...until it wasn't. The mirror wouldn't hang right and was in danger of crashing to the floor. We knew we needed help. What we thought would be easy for the Helpful Badger team required intense problem-solving and to get the screws to fit correctly, they had to be customized both in length and in the screw head (I didn't even know you could do that!). In the end, it works perfectly for us and the price could not have been more reasonable. We're really happy that we called in professionals because this is one job we definitely could not have done ourselves. I'm already thinking about other projects for this team. I needed Jake & Kelcie to replace 3 kitchen ceiling lights and 2 outdoor lights. One was a Swag light over kitchen table. They are very good and affordable. On the phone I was given an estimated time. I asked for the hourly rate. I was pleased with the work and the cost. I asked about Repairing 2 back yard fence gates in the future. Jake and Kelsey showed up on time and carried out the work agreed on. Now my front and back porches are caulked, painted, and have had spindles replaced; they look like new. The back fence has been braced and will give me another few years. The clothes-line posts are vertical. Everything's done. One comment: Jake and Kelsey seemed to be under pressure, as though possibly short-handed. The work took longer than estimated, but they hung in there and got it all done. They did a good job and contacted me if anything that I ordered was amiss or damaged. Jake even went to a store to get parts I had forgotten to get for installs. Jake and Chelsea were very helpful and professional! They arrived on time. Super friendly. Installed the curtain rods (that I had failed to do in 2 hours) in about 10 minutes. They pointed out why I had so much trouble myself-- has to do with the way my apartment building was built, and then offered tips for future installations in my apartment. Because they finished the job so fast, they offered to help out with anything else, which they totally didn't have to do but was very nice of them. Jake is amazing! I have an airbnb and he is my go-to guy anytime that I have a problem. The first time I used him, I needed something repaired within 24 hours and he was the only handyman that I could find who would work on such short notice. He even apologized for charging a little extra because he would have to do it during his off-hours. Since then, he has been my handyman. When my sofa bed broke (never go to Mor Furniture, FYI), he checked it out. He said that it would cost too much to repair and recommended that I just replace it without charging for the estimate. We have used Jake at Helpful Badger twice now and love his services! We have an older, ranch home surrounded by mature trees that are constantly clogging our gutters! The Helpful Badgers have been great about getting our debris-filled gutters cleared out quickly at a fair price. One of the great things about working with Jake is that he is very flexible and is willing to book appointments months in advance. Prior to using these services, we would frequently forget to schedule a cleaning until we noticed water spilling over the gutters. Now, we know that regular maintenance is already on the calendar and it will be taken care of worry-free. We get a courtesy text before his arrival and reminders ahead of time, so we don't forget. Jake and his crew are also super funny, personable, and detail oriented. On their last visit, they went the extra mile to let us know about some problem areas on our gutters and woodpecker damage along the side of our home. These are issues we never would have noticed until they were bigger problems than we could manage. Another bonus: they take credit cards, so we don't have to hunt down a check book. (Seriously, who writes checks anymore?). It is pretty great earning reward points on our credit card for home services that we need anyway. Couldn't be happier with the folks from Helpful Badger. They provided sublimely excellent service on site surrounded by equally great customer service overall. And they charged a good, absolutely reasonable fee for their work. They even went out of their way to help. When I hired them for work in my house, I asked if they could drop by my Mom's house next door to check out how she could install an air conditioner. They didn't just stop by, they saw that a less intensive option was available, so they just did the work right there: Unstuck a stuck window and did the installation in about 20 to 30 minutes. I may regret providing this review, though. My only negative experience was that they weren't immediately available when I called. :-) Their earliest available time was a week out. That's not a problem. In fact, it's about half the time I expected. But if they keep making customers as happier as I am, they're going to be so busy soon that -- next time -- I might have to wait two weeks. :-) read more

I managed to foul up our back door, stripped screws, bowed the threshold and couldn't get the door closed (I clearly am not cut out for carpentry) It's cold and rainy and I called the helpful badger in tears. I hired Helpfulbadger based on the reviews. He responded quickly and quoted me the job and promised can complete it in 2- 3 days. He first brought Chelsea and Chris to meet me at the house, and promised me they can do the job in the time frame I need it to be done. Chris is doing the ceiling texture and cabinet refinish. Jake is responsible doing the two exterior french doors, cracks on the walls and ceiling and basement cement . First of all, they are not cheap! And I am very disappointed with the quality of the work. They missed spots in the basement and cracks still show. The cabinet was unbelievable bad! I have to fire Chris on site and call for help! Two guys look at the cabinets from the photos I sent, didn't want to take over, one guy took one door back home for a try, if he can do it, then he will take the job. And it turns out the guy can fix it for me, charges me 1/2 of why Jake charged me for it , and 1/2 of time faster than Christ. I have 15 damaged doors and drawers. I would not recommend Chris nor Jake or their entire team in the future. Jake ended up can't charge me for the cabinets, but I already wasted 4 days and now I have to hire someone else to finish it. Jake also can't finish the ceiling, he said, the guy named Chris I fired for the cabinet is the one knows how to do the ceiling texture, so he can't do the texture, so he just paint it over on the patches, that's not what I asked for. He didn't offer solution and get help for finish the job. The cracks on the wall after patched and paint look worse than before. I fired him today and asked him not finish the job. He bill full price on the job he did when he didn't even finish or do it right, he also charge me matching paints for $105 for 3 quarts, which not stated in the quote. I asked for the receipt since I am reimbursing him, he told me he can't because he uses it for tax purpose. I said, I am reimbursing you so I should have the receipt, then he said, I charge a 20% over the material because he has to go to the shop to get it. I told him, I have to hire someone else to do the job, and I will send him the bill for the damages, he said, he will have me contact his insurance and but he will first has to bill me for it for the cabinet. He seems nice at the beginning, but don't be fool by his nice approach! By the way, they are slow too! read more

Jake was super responsive, started the job ahead of schedule, and was super thorough. He and his crew did fantastic work and left my home neat and tidy when done. Used Jake for kitchen countertop and bedroom door repairs, pressure washing, and some other miscellaneous items. On my list of jobs needed, one item in particular was a pretty hefty tear out and replace job that I was prepared to have to dig deep to pay for. Upon inspecting he told me the damage wasn't nearly as bad as I thought and suggested a much more cost effective repair.
