My tech arrived late. He called at the time he was supposed to be at my home to tell me he didn't know I needed a mount so he was going to have to stop and get one. He arrived 51 minutes AFTER the appointment time. And to my surprise, he arrived with a WalMart brand mount that I know for sure cost 3 times less than what I was charged. I immediately called Hello Tech and was told they would look into it. Then I was told that the cost included "Hi Maria. The cost of the mount includes compensating the tech for losing out on a job to pick up with mount.-HelloTech". When I called to dispute it, I was told we were charged that much because it was a "tilting mount". The same mount we were scheduled to get. When I challenged that thinking I was told "we can give you a $20 refund but that's it". So basically I paid $59 for a wall mount that only cost the company $25. Talk about price gouging! read more

I am updating my review as I have just noticed I was over charged by $119 for my appointment. This company stands on being upfront about pricing and not being charged til after the service has been complete... what a joke. I had to contact customer service and was told the additional charge was for the tech installing a c-wire.. which he did not do. My home has a c-wire installed already but the tech was not able to get it to work properly so he had to use the extra power source pack that comes with the ecobee.. he DID NOT install a c-wire nor is my ecobee powered with a c-wire. In fact, he even stated that if I had needed a c-wire installed, he wouldn't have been able to do it.. he is not an electrician and wouldn't have been able to accept the job had I needed one installed. Here's my issue.. if there was an additional charge needed for the work to be complete.. so be it. However, the tech never once said anything about an additional charge, HelloTech never communicated an additional charge.. there was zero communication and I wouldn't have known about an extra $119 charge unless I checked my account myself. That just seems extremely shady for a company that advertises being upfront about pricing. How many people have they charged extra that didn't even know because the last communication and numbers they received from HelloTech were different than what they were actually charged? How many times have they gotten an extra $100 here and there? Update 2: I have received a refund and apology from HelloTech. I still don't appreciate the lack of transparency in regards to their charges.. just beware of that if you hire them. Mr. Leslie was professional in presenting himself. However, these are the things I didn't quite like it with the whole experience, when it came to the installation part: - He called me at 1:15 pm to let me know that he was on his way, but came 10 minutes late at 2:10 pm - He suggested that I continue to use the ADT sign instead of the new Simplisafe sign outside the front yard - I had to offer him my ladder to install the fire sensor, siren and the motion detectors, because he didn't bring one in his truck - I ended up installing the fire sensor and the siren because he was said "not comfortable with the ladders" - I kept reminding him that I had to be done by 3:15 pm because I had an appointment at 3:30 pm. By the time he finished, I was late for my appointment I offered to help him at times only because of his health condition, I full understand that it's not his fault. I blame this squarely on hellotech.com as it's their responsibility to make sure they send qualified engineers (both physically and technically). The technician has an "accident" on my bathroom floor and stepped in his own feces and than tracked it through my apartment. I had to have the carpet in my bedroom ripped up, my bathroom rugs thrown away and my rug in my living room thrown away. I called Hello Tech right after it happened and they wanted pictures and told me I was lying but that they were unable to send someone out to look because they do not have a local rep. Now 3 weeks later they are closing out my claim because they "misplaced" the pictures I sent them with the claim. This company is a complete SCAM. Buyer be aware. Here is the letter I wrote in my claim: The tech was super friendly. Upon arrival, he asked to use my restroom. After several long minutes in there, he came out, checked out my view in the living room, and then went into the bedroom to install the tv mount. After he left, I noticed some spots on the floor that I later determined to be feces. I assumed maybe someone stepped in something and cleaned up the areas in the hallway and kitchen. Then I found some on the rug in my living room. I went in and checked in the bedroom, which was on the floor. I figured it was an honest mistake, cleaned up all the areas, and marked it as an unfortunate situation. Then I went into the bathroom. I found poop all over the throw rug around the toilet. I was mortified and then realized it was not dog poop, but instead, it was human feces from your technician that used my bathroom for a number 2 immediately upon his arrival. He must have had an accident wiping, dropped his poop on the bathroom carpet, and then proceeded to step in and track it through my apartment. I called Hello Tech, and the agent asked me for pictures. I'm sorry I did not document poop spewed all around my apartment and instead cleaned it up, thinking it was tracked in from outside, NOT left by the technician. The bathroom throw rug was already put in the washer, and the poop stains were all across the hardwood I cleaned up by hand. My 6X9 throw carpet in my living needs to be replaced as it cannot be washed. My bedroom carpets are carpet cleaned as I type since this is where I sleep. I feel bad, as the tech was super friendly and even bought his son along for the job. But this can't happen, nor should I suffer the inconvenience of paying for carpet cleaning, purchasing a new rug, and cleaning up a grown man's feces. read more

Edit: so I went ahead and booked today through the website and received multiple confirmation emails. It appears the reservation system through Yelp is what is flawed. I had an amazingly great experience with Giri who refused to give up till he had solved my problem. I'm going to keep the content of my original review below to help warn against using Yelp's reservation system so others don't have to encounter the same problem, but I had a flawless experience today with HelloTech's own reservation platform on their website. Original review: I was prompted to book an appointment through Yelp and was sent a confirmation for service between 8 and 10pm tonight. It's now 10:40 and I have been here waiting for my appointment but received no correspondence nor has anyone come to help me. I guess this is a bot that sends out bogus appointment confirmations. Perhaps I will go direct to their website to book an appointment and see if that works, but there doesn't appear to be compatibility between HelloTech and Yelp. Not sure which to hold responsible for wasting my time tonight but here is my fair review of the overall experience. read more

Online scheduling was awesome, made making the appointment very easy. The text updates and ability to track the technician was a great bonus, that way we could put the dogs in the backyard when we saw the technician was close. William arrived exactly on time and went right to work installing our Ring Doorbell and making sure it was hardwired to the house. Getting it to hardwire was tricky and it took him some time, but he was patient and stayed as long as it took to get the job done. He made sure everything was working on each of our phones and showed us the basics of how to work it. He was very kind and professional and I could not be more pleased with the quality of work or level of service we received. I am so glad we paid to have it installed instead of trying to get it done ourselves. The price was very reasonable compared to other places that offered the same service. I had two different hello technicians come to my home twice to set up the same printer. The technicians were professional and cordial and seem to do a great job. However each time I went to print out the next day My computer says the printer is not connected. I don't understand why it's so difficult to set up a printer so that it can print a documents from my computer and emails. read more

Hellotech did a very sloppy job of installing my alarm system. The alarm was loosely hanging from the wall and the motion sensor fell off the wall as soon as the technician left. After 7 emails, 3 calls to customer support, and several empty promises of a call back from management, I have yet to receive a satisfactory response. The service is expensive and overpriced considering the shoddy workmanship and poor customer service. I would strongly discourage anyone who values their hard-earned money from hiring this company. read more

Would be no stars if possible. First they sent someone that installed two $350 Nest IQ camera's wrong. I even warned the installer that I believe that the power supplies needed to be install indoors. He assured me that they were water proof. Of course it turns out that they weren't and one camera is ruined. I have been trying to get them to resolve the issue for more than 15 days. The have been unable to schedule someone to come rectify the issue because I don't believe they have another person in this area to fix it. I have been more than nice but my patience has run out with them. read more
