And then when I said, I'm confused (because he didn't answer my question about price matching that) his response was "[competitor] is wrong on his pricing and must be desperate for work." There are so many well-reviewed TV installers in the Bay Area -- I would strongly recommend avoiding Paul and this company. Based on my experience, they don't come across as straight shooters or particularly trustworthy. Their rates are also 2 to 2.5 times higher than the next 10 top results on Yelp. Yelp should probably move them lower in their results given how few reviews they received in recent years. When I asked about the price difference, I was told the Frame TV is difficult to install and that they include a "lifetime warranty." The quotes I received from the other installers were all specifically for the frame TV. Reading other reviews on Yelp, it didn't seem like the lifetime warranty carried very much weight with them (Paul and Cary). In the end, the experience felt more like a bait-and-switch than a professional engagement. Maybe the quality of the work would have been fine -- but with so many reputable, fairly priced alternatives in the area, I'd strongly recommend going with someone else. Don't waste your time coordinating with Paul or Cary. I ultimately lost my deposit and could not even report them to the Better Business Bureau because they don't seem to exist outside of Yelp and Nextdoor. read more

This experience was below average. Paul (older gentleman) & a younger gentleman (I think his name was Carey) were the ones that came to mount my TV. My primary complaint is the giant fucking hole they ripped into my wall & the rather shitty spackling job they left behind. See photo. The wall was sheet rock & the shelf was concrete. They made the hole to navigate the wires around the concrete, makes sense. BUT WHY DID THE HOLE HAVE TO BE SO BIG WHEN THE WIRES ARE SO SMALL?? I think because you fucked it up, bro. Also, why did you drill the hole out of the wall in the most random ass place? Not centered with the TV or the other electrical outlets, just randomly floating 3/4 of the way across the TV. It looks so stupid. I'm getting angrier as I think about this but I have to let it go cuz wtf can I do now. I also wanna add my 2 cents about the commentary on the full motion install. They discouraged me from doing it because they didn't think I needed it. Respect your opinion but I want the full motion. They do it. BUT THEN. As they're finishing, Paul says he "would never install this in his own home" & how the attachment is "made in China so you know it's no good." Did you just mount my TV using some piece of shit equipment & then tell me to my face when it's already installed?!!! I'm not Chinese but I'm certain Paul didn't know that. Rude. Anyways. Not nearly as a good of an experience second time around. Responds to my email said they can mount a tv and soundbar in my bedroom. Said they will honor the price of our last install. Awesome. Great. Let's do it. He gets here and starts working. While he's working I get an email from him saying he can't honor our original price but will give me $25 off?? Wait. You are here. Maybe you should talk to me not email me and maybe you should discuss that before starting the work. Then when I come up he hasn't mounted the soundbar. Just the TV and said it still cost me the extra $125 even though he didn't mount it - which is supposed to be part of the soundbar fee. When I ask why he said I don't have the mount. When I emailed and asked if I needed to provide the mounts, they responded no. They had them. And now he's saying they only provide the TV mount not the soundbar mount. Why didn't you tell me that so I could have prepared properly? On top of that the sound bar isn't even working!! The TV says it's connected and sound bar is the output but the only way i can hear it is if I connect the two via Bluetooth?? On top of it, not only did they not honor the last price, they increased it by over $160. I really was shocked when he told me the cost. This is the third tv we've had mounted and by far the most expensive. The one downstairs is over a brick fireplace and needed to be wired from the outside and didn't even cost this much. Paul was great. Came in, assembled my mantle mount (not a small feat...so many pieces, thanks to amazon). Mounted the TV, aligned it with our input and his guidance, and BOOM. I have a beautiful large plasma hung over our fireplace in a house built in SF in 1914. He knew our home like it was his own (having worked with similar homes during his career). Bottom Line: They will get the job done and it looks professional. Had them install a pull down mantel mount for a 50" plasma tv and soundbar. Thought about going with the monoprice one but as this is our home for the foreseeable future, went with the MantelMount which is a bit pricier but maybe? a bit sturdier (monoprice also comes with a lifetime warranty) and had a little cover plate and soundbar attachment included. Initial contact: Paul was very responsive (and I'd say, efficient) with his emails. Able to make an appointment fairly easily. Install: Came on time, professional and courteous (ie took of their shoes, asked to use the restroom etc) Anyhow, they did a great job installing what looked like a not very straightforward install (ie cutting the holes into the wood paneling but also cutting holes through several studs to get the power/hdmi cables etc out where I wanted them. The finished job looked great with the exception of one of the hdmi cables getting bent due to the angle of insertion, making it nonfunctional. They came out and after taking a look and troubleshooting, have ordered an hdmi switch as it adds more functionality and gets around the considerable hassle of trying to rerun an additional hdmi cable. I took off one star (or 0.5 stars) due to a misunderstanding/miscommunication about the price of the install (due to the soundbar) but Paul was able to compromise so I appreciated that. Also took off 0.5 stars as while it is nice to have the hdmi switch ordered etc, it would have been great having it all set and working from the beginning without the need for a 2nd visit and with the option to add an hdmi switch later on. Credit to them for coming back and being easy to work with to get the problem fixed though. All that being said, they got the job done, were professional/courteous, and couldn't be happier with the functionality and aesthetics of the pull down mount. read more

Before Paul there was another company that came over, drilled some holes, and said they couldn't hide the wires because of my plaster wall and too much solid wood. I'm really glad I reached out to Paul because he did such a great job installing the TV and hiding the wires through the wall. It was a tough install as there was a lot of solid wood to maneuver around. Paul's knowledge came from many places: 1) the thousands of installs 2) when he used to build homes and 3) having been working in the city with old buildings like mine for decades upon decades... proved to be extremely helpful. Highly recommend using this company to install and mount your tv. Paul is very professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and accommodating, as he is willing to work with your schedule and always on time. I originally hired Best Buy's GeekSquad to mount my tv. BIG MISTAKE! However, they said the mount was too complicated and I was left with two holes in my wall with wires hanging below the tv. They recommended I hire an electrician. In a panic, I searched for another solution and I was referred to Custom Plasma Install by a neighbor. Although this was not the easiest install because of the wiring situation, Paul figured it out and made it work! He also moved the tv down to a recommended height, as it was too high when initially installed by the GeekSquad. The best. We initially hired a handyman to install our flat screen TV above our fireplace and it was a MESS. I literally could not watch TV because I got stressed out by all the wires and the mounting job was pretty terrible. I emailed Paul a photo of the atrocity and he was able to come by that very weekend (he was equally horrified). He remounted our TV, hid all the wiring and then also mounted a second TV for us in the Master and in addition to hiding the wiring, moved the cable box to our closet. Worth noting they have a ton of equipment and tools so if for whatever reason you need a new or different mount, they will likely have it. They also deduct for existing equipment. I had 4 Tv's installed by CPI. 2 were very difficult: one near a slanted wall being dropped from the ceiling and the other one above my fireplace in my bedroom which needed to swivel almost 90 degrees and tilt toward my bed, throw in a sonos system and a sound bar, no problem.
