The only downside is there was only 1 set of dressing rooms. The first time i went into the store, the line was so long I left. Went back later in the day and it wasn't as busy so I was able to try on a few things. Beautiful selection of fashionable Fall and Winter clothing. Prices seemed less than in the States. Lucky me, I picked up a new pair of jeans and a couple of sweaters! Zara's a nice choice if you're looking up to date fashion at affordable prices.

As we walked past, I spied some of my favorite things: bunched up skirts, asymmetrical buttons, shrugs, shirtwaist dresses with puffy sleeves. Pure retro modern chic. I had to go in. My friend immediately spied my ultimate jacket and fit like a glove, it did! Diagonal buttons, short-waisted for a gal with a short torso... it's perfection. I purchased it immediately, but then I spied an avante garde Minnie Mouse number and immediately undressed (it's not that illicit) and again plunked down my credit card because this frock IS THAT PERFECT. But it's more than just having perfect pieces. Soon it became apparant that the kind lady helping me realize the perfect fit was none other than the designer herself! In fact, she was in the back surrounded by patterns, measuring tapes and various design ephemera and really, this doesn't ever happen for us in the states where even "designer" threads are mass produced in countries where children sit for 18 hours at a sewing machine. Hell, even for this, you pay a fortune (not me!). Shopping local seems like less of a trend... it's fully actualized here. I'll be truthful and say that I have 10 days left in Florence and I'm already thinking about the fabulous cross back shrug I noticed on the way out of the store (this is a common theme here. Most of this year I have spent at my home in Santa Barbara and also in South Africa. Everyone admires the Amo Romeo purchases. They are stylish and very comfortable. I love the quality of the fabrics and also that I do not see other people in "my clothes". Three of the dresses were made individually for me in the workroom at the boutique. If you want to find great brands and prices like this in NYC, you have to be prepared to sort through an unorganized store and it's like finding a needle in a haystack-- but not here. Everything is so organized, each clothing rack is in order according to sizing, even the shoes are organized, there's no clutter and the store is easy to walk through and find what you need. I could say "it's an Italian thing" for why it's so organized and neat since Italians are all about presentation and visuals, but I still have to give this store credit for keeping things organized considering the high amount of tourist traffic that comes through this area. The layout is grand and you can see how to get to each specialty department from mostly anywhere in the store without really needing to ask where departments are. The sales people are chill, they don't hassle you, but are available to help when you need them. If you're in Firenze and prefer to shop quality and designer apparel without paying full price, this is the place to come! After you finish doing your touristy things near the Duomo, come and visit just around the corner!
