The saleswoman welcomed me into the shop and, on asking where I was from (England) immediately delivered some total BS about how her company made shoes for Church's shoes in England, claiming that the exact same model she was showing me priced at €300 sold for over £900 in the UK. Despite this being very unlikely, I asked to try some boots. They looked great, but on closer examination were too lightweight for me. The sales woman insisted they were goodyear welted, but they were plainly labelled as Blake Welt on the sole. At this stage the right thing to do was to say no, thank you, which I did. The sales woman became cross. She insisted I try the other, and reasoned that as they looked good, I had to buy them. To keep the peace, I tried the other boot. Again, I said it was not quite right for me - I wanted something more substantial. I was made to feel bad. Completely unacceptable to treat a genuine prospective customer in this way, quite apart from the lies and misrepresentations. read more
