I visited this shop while my friend and I were visiting Florence on a day trip. After reading up on Florence's leather market we decided to visit in order to purchase some Christmas gifts for our family members. Knowing that the stalls lining the leather market were mass produced, and were not high quality leather from the Tuscany region, we decided to peruse the stores that you could walk into. (Things to note when shopping at the leather market: items that can be purchased in every color and texture are not genuine Italian leather, they are being mass produced in other countries and are merely just stamped with the Florence coat of arms. The leather is dyed to achieve the colors. Real Italian leather will have little flaws, freckles, pores, whatever you would like to call them, and the color will usually ALWAYS be shades of brown. The smell will also be musky and will not smell like a chemical. It is important to pay attention to stitching as well.) We had stopped in Pelletteria Adriano briefly as we did with other shops just to scope things out, but ultimately returned. The shop owners were very attentive (hovered a little of course, but that is to be expected) and were very passionate about their products. The woman who worked in the shop took very good care in explaining the process of how her products were made and was very helpful in showing us a variety of models based on what we were specifically looking for. I bought my mom a small-ish purse and I bought a wallet for my dad. Looking back I do wish I would've bought something for myself but as a student on a budget I was being cautious. However, the woman gave me their business card and told me to text her if I wanted something mailed to the states. Both products are crafted very well and were set at a very reasonable price, but of course the owners offered us a deal. I would recommend this shop to anyone visiting the leather market as I do truly feel that I made the right choice in giving them my business. There is also a comfort of knowing these gifts are authentic and made with skill and care.
UPDATE :)
I decided to finally reach out to the shop owners via WhatsApp - since I am back in the states I cannot browse or shop in person - and it has been delightful being in contact with them. I have since made a few orders and their shipping has always been quick, nicely packaged, and communicative. They are so willing to show you any product you are interested + more, and are understanding, patient, and professional. Truly a gem that I am glad I was able to find and stay connected to from another continent. Such a great business. read more
