Came within 15 feet of me and many people on board saw the whole thing. Four of us just did the two hour tour last Friday and I have to say it was spectacular. We had Bo and even though the boat was really fun and exciting Bo made the trip even so much better. He was hysterical, shared so many funny stories and gave you so much information about the area. I would highly recommend getting on his boat if you can. We saw bald eagles, saw a mink, met a ton of fun people and just being on the river was beautiful. It truly was a great time. We had two teenage girls also and they loved it. I believe they are done for the year because the river is too low, but check them out starting next May. We were in the fourth row and got soaked! We were here in May during the first weekend they were open for the season. It was really cold so it's smart to check the weather and dress accordingly. I'm glad I had layered up since it felt colder once we were in full speed. Luckily, there were only a few spinouts so we didn't get wet. My husband and relatives said you get really wet when it's much warmer. I've never been on a jetboat, and it was a fun experience to explore the Rogue River views. I thought it was mainly for newbies, but about half of our group have been on the tour before. It was nice seeing different wildlife mostly birds and various greenery that I'm not accustomed to seeing in Southern California. Our guide was informative providing history tidbits and fun facts like where The River Wild was filmed. Seeing Hellgate was my favorite part. Compared to the rest of the gentle cruise, the water was a little rougher at Hellgate, which made it fun and exciting. If you plan to take photos, I recommend bringing a waterproof pouch with a strap. Around halfway through, we stopped enjoyed a delicious AYCE champagne brunch. I ate more than I should have, but the biscuits and gravy, bacon, and other breakfast items were yummy. The kind staff was readily available to replenish our food and drinks. I would do this tour again especially with warmer weather. read more

Enjoyed the trip. We did the dinner trip and were happy we did. checkin was a but sucky, but the boat ride was good and the dinner very nice. My biggest regret was that I let my travel companions talk me out of bringing my windbreaker. I got soaked on the return trip...not just a bit wet from the spray. I had to empty out my wallet and let it dry overnight. I've taken this trip and Jerry's at the mouth of the rogue in Gold Beach. If I had pick only one, I'd take Jerry's because the scenery was better. That certainly isn't the fault of the operator. Hellgate's food was better. read more

On the day that I joined the excursion with a corporate group from my work, we had a full boat and we launched at the same time as another boat, providing for some friendly "competition" with the other boat and plenty of splashing. The guide/pilot did a great job pointing out wildlife and describing the variation of water levels throughout the year and history of a couple of sites on the shores that we passed. Make sure you go on a hot day; the return after sundown can make for a colder drive back wherever you are staying as you will get soaked or splashed; bring water shoes if you have them and some splash proof ponchos if you want to be remotely dryer by the end of the excursion. We had an unbelievable experience today on the sightseeing and brunch jet boat excursion. Our pilot, Greg, really helped us to experience the Rogue River on an amazing level. His handling of the boat was superior, it was adventurous and informative all at the same time. The food at our brunch was outstanding. Our waitress Olivia did an amazing job taking care of us. The boat ride was fine, the problem was at the restaurant......!st be aware you are NOT allowed to set where you want to be........If all of your party's ticket are not purchased together...YOU will not set together for dinner. We just got back from a 4 hour excursion with dinner June 22, 2023. Our guide who came from Florida, Booker I think his name is, was absolutely great. He had exciting stories and choose ALLOF US in the boat to play along with his humor. He made us feel like family. He was an excellent driver of the boat and spun it around A Lot!!! We all welcomed getting wet and he even paid attention to keeping us safe. All the boat drivers this evening took the time to stop at wildlife so we could take pictures and when they saw people fishing, they would immediately slow way down. They always took in consideration for what was happening around them be it wildlife, fisherman, or kids standing close to the waters edge and when other boats were in the area and would stop or go very slow by them. We all appreciated their kind hearts to do that. We all are going to take another excursion and we are requesting BOOKER or BROOKER, anyway, the guy from Florida! Yes, he's our man and made it a very fun adventure and that is him behind us in one of the pictures we attached!!! We had been told there were bees around the dinner food but tonight, we did not see a one. The food was great and we had a lot of time to walk around the beautiful grounds. If you have guests in town, a Hellgate jetboat trip is always a hit. I've done the dinner trip many times and it's always a lot of fun. The Rogue River and scenery are so beautiful. It's possible to get quite wet during your trip, so plan accordingly. The family style BBQ dinner is tasty and my guests have always enjoyed it. Keep an eye out for wildlife during your excursion. They did a great job from communication on their website ahead of our visit, to booking the reservation, to helping us when we arrived and getting us and our son who is physically disabled on the boat. We personally enjoyed Kelly our captain and the historical facts about areas along the ride. All of us rated it a 10 out of 10 including our 8 yr old daughter who was terrified to go. Did the 2 hour Jetboat excursion into the Hellgate Canyon. The scenery was beautiful and enjoyed the ride. It was a full boat and had to sit toward the back. If I had to do it all over again, defiantly would sit in the front. Way more to see up front and you will definitely get wet. I have been in many of the excursions with them. The last 3 times, I've been highly disappointed. the boat ride is always good, but the food has gone all the way down the hill. You have full cooking facilities, why cook everything ahead and microwave it? Literally everyone can cook better than that. Felt and tasted like getting hospital food. Eggs literally take a minute to cook and yet it was clear that the eggs were nuked in the same bowl it was served in. The sausage was bland as hell. The only thing homemade was what you referred to as gravy. Tasted like flour and water with a little pepper. The dinner excursion is just as bad. Who CANT cook ribs and chicken better than that?? Step up your game or you will lose more returning customers than just me. I will no longer recommend. I had a party of 7 and am embarrassed for even taking them to what used to be a great all around experience. read more

What a FUN way to experience the amazing Rogue River! Just wow. I loved every minute of this, and would do it again. Totally worth the money. We did the 2-hour short and scenic tour, and had a blast speeding down the river, spinning fast and getting soaked on a hot day. We saw duckies and birdies and chicken hawks and an eagle. Also a naked man (full monty) waving at our boat as he stood in his birthday suit on some rocks....luckily my 11 year old wasn't looking and missed that natural wonder. The scenery along the Rogue is absolutely beautiful and unspoiled for many miles. It really takes your breath away, it makes me wonder if this is how it looked back in the Pioneer days, or how the American Indians saw the land when they were here. I love that Oregon keeps their scenic beauty unspoiled! And even when passing along the homes scattered along the rivers edge, even those are interesting and fun to look at. One of my all-time favorite excursions, and so happy I got to enjoy this with my family!! read more

It was a hot day, in the 90's. We were told to be there by 3:45 for loading and the boats would leave at 4:15. Hundreds of us stood in the hot sun for half an hour waiting and finally the boats began loading at 4:15. Not a good start. The best part is the jetboat and the captain, who had tons of experience and a well rehearsed humor, treating his audience with reverence and glee. Good with kids and good with the elderly. Really liked him! Two aspects I really did not care for were the size of the tour (7 boats with a total of 350 people) and the BBQ dinner served. The food was mediocre - the lemonade was syrupy sweet, the white wine was very sweet, the ribs dry as saw dust, and the rest was tolerable. One of us went up to buy a bottle of red wine but the wine table was not staffed. The waitress was ultra sweet as well, announcing cheerily that they served family style so sit down with your "new" family at the huge table. We did see many birds - a bald eagle, great blue herons, ospreys nesting and, of course, turkey vultures, crows, Canada geese and lots of ducks. We did lots of spins and quick stops so that everyone got wet on this very hot day. We all dried out quickly. 3 of our party did come out with sore necks. I'm glad I went but I would never go back. I'll opt for a quiet raft or canoe any day. read more

Over the course of my life, I have subjected my mother to many near heart attack events. Some include: white water rafting down Class V rapids in Northern Maine, having only a metal cage between us and some fairly HUGE sharks while scuba diving, and worst of all, withstanding my driving. That being said, Hellgate Jetboat Excursions was a nice, relaxing escape for both of us. We headed up to Grants Pass, OR for the Hellgate Champagne Brunch: 4 hours and 36 miles round trip. It was SO much fun. The area is gorgeous, you can see lots of wildlife (osprey, bald eagles, river otters), the speed of the boat gives you a definite adrenaline rush, the tour guides are funny and the people on my tour were from across the world. Prior to heading out, I took the advice of the gift shop attendant and purchased 4 ponchos (for the two of us). My mom and I had our ponchos on (2 each, one covering our legs) on the way back. Otherwise, we would have been soaking wet and miserable like some of the people on our boat. It was early May (when the trips start for the season) so the cold water coupled with the fast speed made for a freezing trip home for some. Along the way, we stopped at the OK Corral for brunch. It has an open air deck with beautiful carved log tables and chairs, with a nice river view. Food was served banquet style and there was plenty to go around. We had fruit, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon and some super, super yummy coffee cake. Our brunch also included champagne, and our table took full advantage of this. Highly recommend :) But buy a poncho (or 2) if it's cold. read more

July 24th,2022. Our party of 29 had booked the morning excursion almost six months in advance. Many of us ha completed the waiver form and had submitted it online well in advance of our reservation date. Upon arrival to check in, we were told that they didn't have any of the waivers and our whole group would have to fill out and turn in another form. This was inconvenient and caused some confusion trying to reorganize the group to complete the waiver forms again. Now once we were able to board the boat our Skipper "Dan" and his assistant were able to deliver a memory making trip that able put all of the previous issues behind us. Been holding off to write this review. We recently went down and brought our 21 month old and he had a blast. Biggest issue I have is the fact that they had absolutely no infant/toddler/children pfd's. I work as a river guide over the the summers and we are constantly sizing all ages and all sizes of people. But to have absolutely no pfd's for those ages/weight is irresponsible. Being a river guide we are always trying to bring extra materials in the case that something breaks or goes missing. Things could be different if they sent an email explaining that they don't have a pfd that size and that we need to bring that, however, nothing provided us with that information. I've enjoyed Hellgate Excursions and what they provide. I just can't accept allowing that they allow for a kid on a boat and not having the necessary safety for them. read more
