Dan is the Man! What…read morea pro, and what tremendous customer service. I had no idea what to expect when I decided to sell my lot of 65 ungraded T206 cards. I'd rediscovered them in a forgotten binder, hiding in a closet for some 35 years. My son and I had collected them cheaply in the late 80s, purely as a hobby, not an investment. I had no idea where to go for an honest appraisal. Fortunately, I found Just Collect with a quick google search. Their submission form was simple. I loaded cell-phone pics of my cards, front and back, in four groups based on my amateur's description of their condition. As advertised, Dan emailed me back asap with an up-front assessment. To give me idea of their process, he gave me a firm offer for each of my 8 (lesser) HOF players. His detail evaluation included their condition, their retail worth, and his offer (based on Just Collect's percentage scale). The offer, of course, was contingent on assessing the cards in hand -- including all of the commons, which he definitely was interested in. Dan's email encouraged me to call with questions. And I did, several times (!) . Each time, Dan picked up immediately, explaining the shipping process etc. Full disclosure: We didn't complete the deal, through no fault of Dan's. I actually ordered the shipping materials. But in the short time waiting for them to arrive, I was referred to a local dealer (someone I'd never heard of). He made a strong offer for all of my T206s, plus random other vintage cards. So I took the easy (lazy and impatient) way --- and sold locally rather than ship and wait. When I emailed Dan to explain my decision, he responded promptly and graciously. Class all the way. As it turns out, I've unearthed a couple of old World Series tix from another closet. I emailed photos to Dan to see if Just Collect handles ticket stubs. Sure enough, I got a detailed offer back asap. As I said before, Dan's the man!

Sarah was difficult to communicate with (often did not return calls, texts or emails) and when she was at my home the day of sale preparation, she was rude and impatient. She raised her voice with me more than once and it was all I could do not to ask her to leave and not return. She took jewelry and watches with her that day without telling me and of course I had to consider the worst-case scenario, which was that one of the several crew members there that day may have taken them. I texted her to ask about this later that evening when I realized they were gone, and later the next morning she let me know they had them to research further and metal test. No apology for causing me concern, or acknowledgement that perhaps one should not do that without notifying the home owner. She neglected to mention additional parking near-by in a small business lot in the sale listing, despite my telling her that the owner had granted permission for use during the sale (my street is short with little parking available). A few days after the sale ended (low turnout and poor sales) I received a bill via email showing that I owed her over $600 as the minimum threshold of $2000 for sales had not been met. No personal note with that, text or phone call. Lots of lovely items gone as if they were given away; $2000 is a low threshold for vintage, antique, collectible items, suitcases, bedding, table linens and cookware along with some jewelry, several nice resin watches and some furniture. The only bright spot was that the two crew members who were there during the two days of the sale, Stacey and Casey, were sweet, kind and communicative. I was able to sell many of the leftover items online and more than made up for the financial loss caused by this estate sale, so that was a big help. I have read many positive reviews for Pink Lady and it's as if people are talking about services and an owner that I did not utilize. Reminded me eerily of the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and you can deduce which one I got! Someone mentioned that Sarah was having health issues, and if true I would not wish that for anyone. But regardless of what was going on in her personal life, there is no excuse for the unprofessional behavior and conduct I encountered. I encourage others to exercise their due diligence and explore other and better options that are out there.

PROS: The company seems to run very professionally and is attentive to Covid guidelines. They only allowed a few people in at a time, masks required, good signage, out front, etc. CONS: Most things were not priced to sell so much as they were priced for profit. Also, a staff member was with you in every room kind of hovering (if they weren't initially in the room, they followed you into the room). As a customer, this felt awkward and uncomfortable.

If something should cost $40 for handling, boxing and shipping, you get a bill for $200 or more. We rec'd an invoice from John Nye. !!! No shipping cost was noted in the form field!!! John said his partner, Ron, would provide one. Ron emailed that he could only provide shipping cost AFTER you paid for the lot. An auction house that claims to ship but does not know how much to bill?!?!? Same ol', same ol' that most of these low-end auction houses use. Then you get the bill for 5xs what it should cost or they keep/steal your purchase. We estimate that this con job could easily cover their over head. These people John and Ron operate in collusion. If you are a regular follower, what…read moreyou will see at Nye auctions is not only an interesting variety of antiques and art, but items that many times have a certain distinction in style and craftsmanship that sets them apart from the usual auction fare. Two of my recent Nye purchases illustrate this point: a Sheraton sewing table and a George III arm chair. If you search auctions for either of these, you will come up with a large number available for sale. A Sheraton table or a Georgian chair are easy to find, but what is difficult to find are outstanding examples of design. A certain turn of the wood here or the maker's attention to proportion there make all the difference between an 'average' antique, and one worth cherishing as a fine example of the period. Of course, higher end items are always found at big-name auction houses and always accompanied by big prices. Moderate budgets and serious collecting rarely go together. However, at Nye, if you pay attention and search their auctions habitually, you are certain to discover that special piece of art, or furniture, or porcelain, and surprisingly, you will also find it at a very reasonable price.
