I attended a sale that this company was holding in Rego Park on Alderton. The guy running the sale was nasty, and ridiculously over priced considering that everything you touched was filthy. Really just miserable service. I wouldn't waste even a minute going to one of their sales. Note -- I had been to other of their sales that had been professionally run, but it looks like their has been an ownership/management change. Don't even bother. "Specialists" is a bold claim. The red haired woman running these sales is so out of touch with pricing it's comical - every other vintage dealer i know has stopped attending her sales too. Dug through a hoarder house today for an hour to find a few little pieces of unbranded polyester undergarments worth no more than $2 a piece and she tried to charge me $50... when i responded in shock she yanked the items out of my hands and kept my items on display at the front. after i'm the one who dug through rat shit and mold to find them... good luck with that. definitely won't see me at another one of your sales. read more

I did not receive the service expected as outlined by Alex. Moving is a stressful activity and this was the least professional experience I had. One month has passed and I've still not received a check from this man nor an explanation as to how my possessions were distributed. I would not recommend this person. read more

The woman running the sale let her friends family in first then made everyone else stand out in the heat for 30 minutes while the loaded bags and took them to the backyard. One man almost passed out from the heat. She overpriced stuff and took the things she wanted for herself. So unethical. read more

Whatever you want to call it - Estate Sale, Tag Sale, Garage Sale, Clean out, Moving, Auction or Downsizing, it all comes down to the same - stuff you no longer need and want to get rid of. When it came time to decide what to do with my Mother and Brother's belonging (both have passed) there was no way I was going to run a sale on my own. I went online to EstateSale.com and filled out the information/request form to work with a company to assist setting up a sale. After being contacted by several, I decided to work with Alex Daich from Certified Estate Specialists. When Alex came to the house, I found him pleasant, honest, professional and upfront about what to expect. The standard sale was two days with an option of an additional day with a fee. After a day I called and added the day. Several days before the actual sale Alex came to the house with 3 crewmembers and started to stage and price some of the items. Any jewelry and sentimental items were removed prior to the sale. The entire group was respectful to me, took care with the belongings and the emotional toll it was taking out on me. Before they left Alex gave a few pointers for the day of the sale. One was don't answer the bell until he gets there! He said Estate buyers are an eclectic group and will do anything to get the first look. And yes it does happen - a woman caught my husband as he walked to the front of the house asking to use the restroom. He being understanding let her into the apartment - she spent more time looking around than the 10 seconds she was in the bathroom! It was recommended that I did not stick around during the sale which I gladly accepted. As the day went I would look out the 2nd floor and watch people leave with arms full of things. My thoughts were these items were not going to the landfill and will be used again. At the end of each day Alex and I would "settle up". For the honesty issue - one of Alex's crew found a box with filled with dimes in the amount of $320.00. He could have walked out with it but did not. He knocked on the door and handed it to me. I had no idea of the coin stash! So trying hard to make this short and sweet: 1. I would highly recommend Certified Estate Specialist 2. How and why certain items are priced is still a mystery to me. Things I thought would sell didn't and things I thought would be left behind was sold. Keep in mind you'll never get back what you paid for unless you have a Rembrandt hanging in your living room. 3. Anyone who is thinking of having a sale - not everything is going to sell. Yes I wished everything would be sold but let's face reality. Think of the term - Supply and Demand. I had the supply but you can't drag people in for the demand. And yes Alex did advertise the sale, online, signs and his contact list. He had even offered another day and wasn't going to charge the additional fee. I decided not to and have been boxing what is left and donating to Goodwill. 4. Anyone is who thinking about buying a used item - regardless of what it is - do your research, check the item thoroughly, check if it works and if any parts are missing. I doubt any tag sales have a return policy. 5. And for those of you who think paying $40 for something that is priced at $300 is authentic, I have a bridge for sale. It's called Brooklyn. read more

Alex misrepresents the reach of his network. He did little to no advertising we hired him to sell my mother estate which was filled with interesting and valuable items. Alex was not honest about his intentions, he was interested in a quick sale of my mothers jewelry and silver, taking his commission and basically leaving us holding the bag on the balance of the estate. Over the course of 2 days Alex sold almost nothing else in the estate except an old apple desktop which he misrepresented to the buyer as new and in great condition when in fact it didnt work. He sold it for 700 and gave the buyer my name. Being an honest person i refunded the money to the buyer, Alex had already taken his commission on the sale and refused to refund it leaving me holding the bag on his portion of the sale. All he said with a laugh was look at the fine print on the contract. Alex had been willing to work for less than his 30% commission however I insisted on paying the full commission with the idea that he would work hard to make his money. I work on trust, I feel like Alex and his company Certified Estate Specialists took advantage of my trust. I cannot recommend his services read more

Certified Estate Specialists is a great company. The owner, Alex is very trustworthy and reliable. He told me exactly what I could I expect to receive for my grandmothers estate and he was right on target. Alex told me in the beginning not to throw anything away, even if I didn't think it was valuable and he was right. Of course not everything sold and he let me know that was going to happen as well. But he gave me an estimate for a clean out and let me know that I was under no obligation to use him. I got several other estimates as well and Certified Estate Specialists was well below the going rate. I was hesitant at first because the rates seemed to low, but I am so glad that I used this company. Not only was everything taken out of the house, but the rooms were left spotless and ready for the new owners. I would highly recommend Certified Estate Specialists to anyone who would need this type of service. read more
