They offer military and other discounts on their entrance fee The gift shop area includes information on local, current mining operations as well as merch. This is an outdoor museum so dress for the weather. If you want to take the under ground tour be sure you are wearing closed toed shoes. (Crocs not included, I don't know why) They also have above ground tours. Part of the property is set up like a western town. Something that would grow up around a mine. Post office, apothecary, carpenter, blacksmith, etc, etc. All these buildings are set up with window displays but most are not open to the public. You just peer thru the windows. There is a memorial garden to miners. A mine yard with pieces of heavy equipment. The motorized lift, miners locker room, light room, information and equipment used in dry and wet boring, 3D representations of mines and more with information posted on the displays. You can walk up into the mine head if you are so inclined to see how the ore chutes operated. We spent about two hours here without realizing it. Very interesting museum. Staff are very personable, answered questions and suggested reading material for more on the subject. Very good, family friendly stop.

Old Butte Historical Adventures - Underground speakeasy. So cool

The guide was very (overly?) enthusiastic with some exaggerated "facts" (didn't seem quite right to me, so I researched a few things afterwards). Indeed Butte was a very important, crowded and rough place in the early part of the 20th century and the stories you will hear on this tour give a good flavor of that time, just know that it's more like watching a movie "based on a true story", than a documentary.

We booked the Yellowstone Lower Loop tour, and it was the perfect way to experience the park together. Our guide, Ben, was absolutely amazing! He arrived right on time at 7am with a spacious, super comfortable van fully stocked with everything we could possibly need for a great tour; including binoculars, drinks, and snacks. Ben was friendly, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. He kept the kids interested and made sure the entire group was enjoying themselves throughout the day. He was very accommodating to our interests, always asking if we wanted to stop when wildlife was spotted or if we wanted to take more time at certain locations. His flexibility made the whole day feel relaxed and tailored to us. Lunch was at Old Faithful, and it was a delicious treat; sandwiches, chips, fruit, and the best homemade chocolate chip cookie. Everything was provided and thoughtfully prepared. This was such a memorable and well-organized experience. I will absolutely be booking with Yellowstone Excursions again, whether it's to explore another area or when more friends and family come to visit us in Bozeman.

I decided to just rate my experience here and I must say it was a good one. In all honesty, I've never heard of the place until today. I have lived in Montana for 14 years now but for some reason or another, this place never crossed my radar. While taking a road trip to explore Butte today, my husband insisted we stop here. After a quick Google search on my phone, I saw we were only about a mile away but had less than 20 minutes before it closed (4pm on a Sunday). The younger man at the desk inside was very helpful and told us we didn't need to rush and could take our time. It was $10 for my husband, myself, and our two kids to enter. After paying, you walk through a short tunnel to the viewing area. Unfortunately the wind was insane today so we did end up rushing, but it was still a very unique experience and I am glad we decided to go. The color of the water is deceiving. You wouldn't guess it is full of toxic chemicals. The Berkeley Pit used to be an open pit copper mine. It has a depth of over 1,600 feet and is filled with over 900 feet of water. It is said to have the acidity of Coca Cola or lemon juice. The pit is filled with a combination of various chemicals, which help give it that greenish-blue color. It was interesting to stand there and imagine how it looked years ago. My kids really enjoyed reading about the history of the pit. We do plan on making another trip back there when the weather is better so we can fully fake advantage of that piece of Butte's history. I would definitely recommend!

I've never stolen from this location anyways paid for my items. Use my coupon because I had donated right before I went in the store that day and left moving forward to today. My daughter and I went in the store and shopped. When we got to the check stand. My daughter went up first to pay. They offered her the 50% off discount for women's clothing and were very very kind to her. My daughter then went outside to wait for me when I got to the check stand I wasn't offered the discount. I wasn't even asked if I wanted to round up and the receipt was basically thrown to me in a really shitty way. I have a complaint because I'm being profiled as a thief and I am not a thief. I have never stolen from this location. They definitely have me confused for somebody else. This needs to be addressed. Your associates are not very kind when you come in the store anymore and I'm steal, but you can't assume everybody is going to do that and I am not the one that is doing this, but you have now lost a customer. I donate every time I come in there. I also round up every time I pay and now I'm not going to be coming to this location hopefully you guys see this and you can address the situation and hopefully nobody else has ever treated like this in the store.
