They offer military and other discounts on their entrance fee The gift shop area includes information on local, current mining operations as well as merch. This is an outdoor museum so dress for the weather. If you want to take the under ground tour be sure you are wearing closed toed shoes. (Crocs not included, I don't know why) They also have above ground tours. Part of the property is set up like a western town. Something that would grow up around a mine. Post office, apothecary, carpenter, blacksmith, etc, etc. All these buildings are set up with window displays but most are not open to the public. You just peer thru the windows. There is a memorial garden to miners. A mine yard with pieces of heavy equipment. The motorized lift, miners locker room, light room, information and equipment used in dry and wet boring, 3D representations of mines and more with information posted on the displays. You can walk up into the mine head if you are so inclined to see how the ore chutes operated. We spent about two hours here without realizing it. Very interesting museum. Staff are very personable, answered questions and suggested reading material for more on the subject. Very good, family friendly stop.

We enjoyed drinks at each location (not included in the price, but you can sample at each location for free), toured the distillery and one of the breweries, and received information and trivia from Kurt at each stop. I highly recommend taking one of Kurt's tours if you're visiting, or if you're from Helena as I am. You will learn something and have a great time. He also does mountain biking shuttles and can customize individual tours. So glad to have this addition in Helena!

We had a speed boat yesterday and we got to witness all kinds of flotation devices, sped boats, pontoons, it was so fun, beautiful and peaceful. It's part of the Lewis & Clark expedition. Cons: The boat that is covered gets hot inside, unless there is a cool breeze. If you are in the covered boat and not seated at a window, you will miss the majority of sites that are called out during the narration. Views are very limited. If the boat is full, you can't really walk and hang out on the back of the boat which is open air. The boat moves very slow. Did I mention it gets warm? My advice: if an option, take the open air boat (Sacajawea) where there is no cover (bring sunscreen). Check to see if they rent pontoons or other boats. Just an ok experience and wouldn't do it again.

Went on a group trip with Gig Harbor Fly shop out of Washington for 5 days. See my other reviews for the fly shop and owner: Blake Merkin. I loved this group because I got to fish the way I wanted to fish: trout spey. While most of the world is single handed fishing, this shop is very familiar with trout spey - also called microspey; Headhunters caters to 2 handed anglers. I am such an angler - I always fish with a 2 hander for steelhead, salmon, ocean surf fishing, bay fishing, and even trout in my local waters. From the time you enter the shop to the time you leave, this store offers more than the square footage of the shop. They have the flies that catch real fish, rods, lines, reels, and clothing & accessories. I was looking for an integrated fishing line for my newly purchased 5wt trout spey rod so I brought along my reel with backing on it ready to buy. But when I could not decide between a scandi or skagit integrated line, the shop was so nice to offer a no cost loaner/demo of the line. They even put their line on their Sage reel plus a tapered leader!. I can not believe a fly shop would offer to do this as all other fly shops I have been into either do not offer a demo program nor would they even offer to let you use a line for free! I ended up buying the line after using it for a day - they definitely know how to gain confidence in their services and products! The best guide out of Headhunters: Whitney Gould - was the best 2 handed guide & instructor I have ever met! Whitney was the only FFF certified casting THCI and multi world champion spey cast distance competitor. She certainly knows how to guide a spey angler on the Missouri big time! She got me onto many stretches of the water where I could get out of the boat, walk & wade into some huge fish. Have to say, it's best day I have had using my 2 handed rod. This shop is a must stop by and I would definitely return to this blue ribbon fishery!

Also a great selection of Patagonia gear, rods, and branded merchandise. I would like to stay here again. Much better than the hectic city of Great Falls.
