Been going every time to this place when we visit. This year it seemed the little bit skimpy on the expensive food. The leberkiessen (meatloaf) was an insult for $7. We used to always look forward to ordering it and you don't expect crazy amount of food but you don't expect like 3 ounces of it. Unfortunately, all three times are visited every day we kept hearing the same feedback and seeing that skimpy portion size. It is a fun festive place. However, it's beginning to show it wear and tear. Some freshening up wooden hurt, perhaps, even a deep cleaning of all the dust and buildup of crud on everything. Music should be more authentic instead of 10%, authentic and 90% countries/pop rock which is OK but mix it up a little more.

The classic Helen Oktoberfest must visit spot. After a long day of walking, eating and drinking, we were ready to retire early. However, we were convinced to pay the $10 cover to enter the Helen Festhalle for the real Oktoberfest experience. My friend and I were so hesitant about paying a "cover," but it really was for the entertainment and atmosphere - so definitely worth it! There are two lines available for food stalls and two lines for the drinks stalls. After we stopped for some beers at the long winding beer line where we could find any beer I could possibly want, we headed to find some food. There's a stall selling beer nuts (cash only) but they offered us samples. They were warm and sweet and crunchy - so we gave in and bought a bag. After settling in with our beer and nuts, we lined up for some real food - pretzel bread and bratwurst. There really is nothing else to eat in Helen. Overall, the Festhalle is a good time. The music festivities and camaraderie is almost worth the $10 cover. Ein Prosit Der Gemütlichkeit... OANS! ZWOA! DREI! G'SUFFA!

If you live in or around the state of Georgia, you should really carve out at least one day each autumn to visit Helen during Oktoberfest - and the Festhalle should be your primary destination. Each year this place is packed with a delightfully eclectic mix of patrons ranging from octogenarians in lederhosen, to college girls in sorority teeshirts, to hillbillies in overalls. This diverse group shares one important dynamic: they've all gathered to drink lots of beer and have a great time! The Festhalle building consists of dozens upon dozens of long tables for communal seating, several bars and concession areas, a music stage with adjoining dance floor, and a lovely outdoor biergarten. During Oktoberfest you can purchase a themed stein for about $15 and then help yourself to discounted refills on all of your favorite Bavarian beers. If you're with a large group you can even order one of those ridiculous beer towers for your table. They serve the traditional German style foods you'd expect, and while I've never eaten here personally, I've seen plenty of other patrons downing brats/pretzels/schnitzels and they've always seemed delighted. Me? I prefer to consume my calories in beer form. Helen brings in some fantastic musicians to play in the Festhalle during Oktoberfest. There's a good mix of traditional Bavarian bierhall music and lighthearted accordion-style rock. There are always couples eager to strut their stuff on the dance floor regardless of what style of music is being played at any given time. (The beer might have something to do with that.) For me, no October is complete without a visit to the Helen Festhalle. Sure it's touristy, loud and raucous... but isn't that kind of the point?

Festhalle is the community center in Helen, best known for hosting Helen's Oktoberfest celebration. It's not Munich, but it's still lots of fun. During Oktoberfest, German bands provide entertainment while partiers partake of German food and beer. The crowd skews older, but they're ready to dance and have fun. They're also serious about their Oktoberfest. Many dress in lederhosen and other authentic German garb and even bring their own beer steins. We were advised to eat before going but ended up grabbing some German food at Festhalle. It's not great but it's passable, and a plate with two wursts, red cabbage and German potato salad disappeared easily! The beer and main food concession accept credit cards, but oddly, the snack bar only accepts cash. During the rest of the year, Festhalle hosts other festivals, but it's best known for Helen's Oktoberfest celebration.

Family friendly environment where you will feel welcomed and at home. Everyone is polite and approachable; you can enjoy yourself with no worries. When in Helen, check it out.

This is the special events hall that is the linchpin of Helen's Oktoberfest activities. It is also the site of other events throughout the year, including Cork & Keg - a craft beer and wine tasting event. They have food on site during events - either vendors selling food, or their own kitchen during Oktoberfest. It is a semi-open building right along the Chattahoochee River and has a stage for live performances.

Weird sign out front. What kind of business is this anyway?

We were there last week and it was great. The bands were excellent, especially the saxophone player. The food and beverage was great.

You could certainly go in, run around, look at the castle in 15 mins, but we wanted to understand the art, the reason behind the build and just learn a few things. Santa was there for pictures and it's neat that you can rent a room IN the castle. We weren't able to view those rooms but, I believe there are pictures online. Maybe we will come back and stay! You can't see the castle upon arrival, they take you in a bus up the hill so, I liked that it didn't ruin the surprise. They had little Tiaras for purchase and they give you a small prize when you complete the word puzzle they hand you. And event here would be cool. It would also be great if they had more drink or snacks for purchase but imagine that's in the works!! This was a costly project so, it will only get better!

Their location causes some logistical issues you don't have at most faires as there is no parking field. Most people have to park offsite and catch a free shuttle to the bottom of the mountain, then they drive you up to the castle. For those of us in full costume, the shuttle buses do add a level of complication we aren't used to but is definitely worth it If you like the Renaissance faire type events you need to go check this event out.

My husband had scheduled a massage as a gift for that afternoon. This was probably the worst experience I have had. The therapist was poor in her execution, style and even manner. Before my treatment even started she mentioned an up charge for deep tissue. During my treatment she burped two times and her massage was far from relaxing her massage etiquette as a therapist was poor and as it was my birthday it sort of ruined my whole experience there, which was a shame. I did reach out to the B&B and provided my feedback, was told the spa manager (Tanya) would reach out but she never did. Heard back from the B&B manager and she told me the owner would give me a $50 dollar credit to my treatment the next time! We live almost two hours away so will not be planning on using that any time soon. To be honest after that experience I would not go back to the spa. The b&b was lovely the massage experience not so.

Title: A Blissful Retreat at Lucille's Mountain Top Inn and Spa…read more Rating: (5/5) My partner and I recently enjoyed a two-day stay at Lucille's Mountain Top Inn and Spa, and it was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the impeccable service and breathtaking surroundings left us utterly enchanted. Firstly, I must commend Alex, the multi-talented front desk manager and concierge. Her warm welcome and exceptional hospitality set the tone for our entire stay. Alex not only ensured a smooth check-in but also provided us with valuable information about the resort and nearby attractions. Her dedication to making our stay memorable was truly impressive. Our mornings were filled with culinary delights thanks to the talented chefs, Michael and Linda. There are always 2 courses, and they typically feature some local produce and meats. Michael's breakfast creations on day one were a delightful surprise, with flavors that danced on our taste buds, especially the sausage! Linda, the breakfast chef on day two, continued the culinary excellence with a delectable breakfast that left us craving for more. The eggs with asparagus were amazing and I am super picky about my eggs. Rebecca, the waitress, deserves a special mention for her attentive and friendly service during our meals. She made dining a pleasure, always ready with a smile and quick to accommodate any request. Carla, the kitchen helper, and Cassidy, another member of the front desk and concierge team, contributed to the overall smooth operation of the inn. Their dedication behind the scenes did not go unnoticed, and it's evident that the entire staff at Lucille's is a well-oiled machine. Desserts are also served in the evening and the guests serve themselves and typically joined in the common areas, reading, chatting or playing one of the several board games available. It was delightful way to unwind. The highlight of our stay was the couples massage at the spa, a truly rejuvenating experience. The spa staff exhibited professionalism and skill, creating a tranquil atmosphere that allowed us to unwind and connect on a deeper level. Lucille's Mountain Top Inn and Spa is a place where luxury meets nature, and where every staff member goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. The stunning mountain views, the impeccable service, and the attention to detail make this an oasis of relaxation and romance. We can't wait to return to this hidden gem in the mountains. Thank you, Lucille's, for making our stay unforgettable.

We reached the hotel around 10pm. Noticed that almost all stores and restaurants close early in Helen. But the check in staff was very helpful. She gave us an area map and list of things we could do. Also suggested a pizza place...which was the only place open at that time and would deliver. Our room was neat and clean. The hotel had complimentary breakfast "covid style". Meaning, you pick the items that you want from what they have available. They had quite a few selections. Cereal, juice, fruit, yogurt, nutri bar and cinnamon rolls. In hot breakfast they did not have anything vegetarian. They did have plain biscuits though. You tell the staff (who is wearing mask and gloves) what you want and she makes a tray for you. You can either eat in the dining area or take it to your room. The hotel seemed to follow the CDC guidelines for Covid. They do not enter your room for cleaning everyday (how it used to be before covid). If you need anything you just call the front desk and they bring it to you. Plus every day when we came back to the hotel in the evening...they left a care package with a towel, napkin, soap, toilet paper, etc. We didnt really had to ask for anything. The staff was helpful. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
