Could this be the best helado in San Telmo?
Across the board, the helado here was the best I tried in Buenos Aires - texture wasn't at all soft/foamy/icy, flavors were all there. We ended up getting:
- Dulce de leche
- Coco de dulce de leche
- Irish cream
- Sambayon with maraschino cherries
Don't miss the first two: The classic dulce de leche was better than the versions at any of the many heladerias I visited. The coco de dulce was a really lovely twist, with bits of coconut and no artificial coconut flavor.
The interior is very clean, almost disturbingly sleek. The staff didn't act like they'd rather be probed by aliens than selling ice cream (see: Sumo, Nonna Bianca).
Worth a visit? Yes! But good luck catching them when they're actually open (visiting during winter, when area ice cream shops are only open a few hours a day, a few days a week, doesn't help). read more
