Pick up a newspaper or watch the news; it's no longer 1960's and these employees are not your verbal punching bags! Couldn't believe what I was hearing standing behind these entitled adults. Guy in front of me literally yelled and berated a young salesgirl because HE wanted to return an old used nasty mower with no receipt. Lord knows how old it was. Put her in tears. Calling her names. There's no sense in that! Do better Ken! Meanwhile, because she's dealing with a Ken, she's unable to answer the phone. Neither was her coworker who was dealing with a Karen trying to return a bunch of items from Home Depot. Unreal customers! These customers think they're entitled. No wonder people don't want to work in retail. Stay home Karen and Ken! My return went smooth. I followed policy, had my receipt and they were very kind to me. Thanked me for my business.

What this means is that they have access to all goods and can offer them at competitive prices to the big box stores. Their selection is fantastic in most departments. My wife is particularly interested in feeding birds and they have all that stuff. I have been looking for a snow blower and they have an excellent buy ($200 savings oover competitive items) on a 27" Poulen/Husqvarna item that unfortunately is not available from the warehouse at the present time. I have sent an email inquiry to the warehouse asking if/when the item will be re-stocked and available (awaiting reply). Items such as this are not usually in stock at the local store, but you can get them shipped to the local store for free. So as long as you have a way to get it home, you can do just as well as big box, and perhaps better. The local store gets 5* because it's well organized and it's easy to find things. But because their supplier doesn't have what I want, I will give an overall 4* If they come through, I will write an update and upgrade the overall score.

With spring upon us I thought it time I should make mention of Boltz. First Boltz is everything Home Depot isn't by that I mean there are Human Beings employed here interested in assisting you in your endeavors. Secondarily they have a really nice selection of Tomato plants in the spring. If you buy bird seed or grass seed for your lawn somewhere else your wasting your money. Just a random list of things they carry: onion sets, seed potatoes, seed by the Oz. I got enough Arugula seeds for the entire year for a fraction of those stupid seed packets at Blowes (Lowes). There is a small selection of hardware and tools along with candy and lots of WVU knick-knackery. So the next time you have the urge too explore your inner-hipster and grow some cucumbers and then make some pickles go too Boltz before it's to late.

I stopped an associate coming from the bake room and asked for help. They said, " What you're looking for is right here, that's all we got," and walked away. Looked for a minute or so more still couldn't find it. Asked another associate, and he directed me directly to the spot, moved a couple of items, and there it was. The same associate took the time to direct me to other items I was looking for. This person made things a bit easier to find what I was looking for. Checking out took some time. Long line, 1 checkout person, helping a person having difficulty with credit card scanner, and a return at the same time. The same person who blew me off earlier opened a second register. I went over there. The first question was, did I want to join a 30 dollar a month club? I responded no thank you. I'm already on a mailing list for Harbor Freight, and don't actually shop there that often. I was just a bit upset how I was blown off looking for something that was supposed to be there but couldn't find it. Then, flagging down someone else who actually took the time to help took more time. What should have been an hour shopping trip took 2 hours.

I was surprised to read Richard C's review of Berkeley Glass as my experience, or I should say…read moreexperiences (because I've had multiple over the last two years) is completely different. I have been restoring my 1920's brick foursquare home in Harpers Ferry. The house still has its original rolled glass windows. To protect the windows and to provide better insulation properties to the house, I've custom built storm windows for each window. There are 12 windows in my house, three of which measure 65"x 48", the bottom sash of that is 48"x 48" so that's a BIG piece of glass! These circa 1920's windows are NOT standard in any way, shape or form so each of my storms had to be slightly different to fit. My storms also copied the sash design of the original window so I contacted Berkeley Glass to assist me in cutting similar, uniquely sized glass panes. I've worked with Mark, Angel and Walt and in every instance, and in every way they have been the most helpful. They've provided nearly immediate assistance - (I say "nearly" because they are busy with lots of other customers and orders) and they have been fair and honest in their pricing. What's more, I've met them and they are good people. I'm not a big business with big orders for big jobs - I'm a human being just trying to get my jobs done. They've always treated me with that same human respect. I've got nothing but good things to say about them. I highly recommend Berkeley Glass and thank Mark, Angel and Walt again.

My experience with Berkeley Glass was incredibly frustrating from start to finish…read more The initial consultation went well, and I was told they could install a frameless shower. Later, I was informed that a true frameless enclosure wouldn't work because the holes from the previous shower would be visible, so I had to go with a more expensive framed option instead. The special-order enclosure arrived fairly quickly, but that's where the problems really began. The first installation appointment ended with the installers discovering something was wrong with the enclosure, so it had to be reordered. I had already taken a day off work. The second installation appointment wasn't any better. One of the parts had been pre-cut incorrectly at the factory, so yet another part had to be reordered, requiring me to take another day off work. When they finally returned and completed the installation, I noticed a very obvious dent in the enclosure after they left. I called immediately because I wasn't happy with the quality of the installation. They eventually replaced the damaged part, but referred to it as being replaced under "warranty." Warranty? It was installed with the dent in the first place. That wasn't a warranty issue--it was correcting an installation problem that should have never happened. After everything was finally finished, I paid my invoice in full. I even have the receipt showing a $0.00 balance owed. Weeks later, I received a phone call claiming I still owed more money. After everything I had already dealt with, that was the final straw. Between the repeated ordering mistakes, multiple installation appointments, lost wages from taking several days off work, poor quality control, and then being asked for more money after paying in full, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had. I cannot recommend Berkeley Glass based on my experience.
