This place in inbetween some steak houses and I thought I would try it, walked in place was pretty empty but it was good the waitress greeted me and I sat down and ordered a drink, looked at the menu for a min and decided to order a western burger and some hot wings... hot wings came first and I was expecting them not to be really good but I was shocked they were amazing.. and then my burger came and it was big and looked amazing.. The food was amazing and the place was really nice and was nice and peaceful, for a really small town I was pretty shocked on the service and the food. Solid memories of my two stops in here while I was in town. The pizza here is locally famous, so I'd heard it about it from coworkers long before I got to town for work. Someone from a company we work with in the area had been in town for months and become a regular here, so my 2nd visit was even better. Grab a Cold Smoke Scotch Ale on tap for an excellent Montana-local beer on tap. Other good beers on tap are available if you want to stray from there. On my 1st visit, someone recommended the tenderloin steak tips, so I decided to save the famous pizza for the 2nd visit. Good call - the steak tips were solid. Wish I could remember what else I ordered. On 2nd visit (with regular leading the way), we went with the cheeseburger pizza, which sounded kinda weird, yet... gotta try something new, soooo... we did! And it was awesome. So good - never had anything like it before. Got cheese curds on the side, which were also stellar. Dined in both times, enhancing the piping hot and fresh experience vs taking something back to the room. Not sure if dining with a regular got me a 5-star experience or if it's always that awesome, but I've thought about this bar several times since I went... so that merits a solid review. Okay so here I am, writing about Heiser's in Baker, Montana! I will say Baker is one of the smallest towns I have passed through in all my travels within the United States! It consists of a simple main street with a traffic signal or two. I was driving through Baker this past July on my self made itinerary journeying through North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota. I've become a national parks guru and been on a quest attempting to visit all 59 in the USA. So after exploring Theodore Roosevelt NP in North Dakota, I was then cutting west across northeastern Montana for 80 miles while resting for the night here in Baker. Ultimately the next day I was commuting 150 miles more south into Wyoming and heading to magnificent Devils Tower National Monument!! (Devils Tower is 5 stars!) Staying for the evening around the corner at the Sagebrush Inn (a simple motel to sleep at for the night), they recommended eating dinner either here at Heiser's or next door at the Corner Bar Saloon. When I quickly googled both restaurants' menus, it looked like Heiser's had more options to choose from, so I decided to come on in. Although Heiser's is mentioned as a bar and casino, please don't take the casino part literally. I believe I did see a sign that they feature a poker room. When I first entered the restaurant, yes there's a main bar for cocktails with televisions situated all around. They also have plenty of tables and chairs to sit down at. I was traveling alone and decided to grab a high top table. I visited back on a Sunday evening and the place was relatively quiet. The bartender came over to me and served as my waiter. One other thing, as my pictures will show, Heiser's is a casual, blue collar restaurant. Real simplistic...sort of reminded me of a dive bar...anyone can come in for a drink and dinner. The front of their menu offers appetizers along with traditional and boneless wings. 2nd page has salads (as a meal), dinner baskets like chicken strips, shrimp, and steak tips (which I chose), 3rd page has build your own wraps, burgers, sandwiches and the 4th has a variety of homemade and create your own pizzas. Their menu sounded interesting I could have picked anything. The all American type of food selections are good enough to accommodate just about anyone. You can't go wrong in my opinion. The steak tips 8oz. for $11.25 were tender and seasoned well. They came with a side. I got the onion tanglers (sort of a version of an onion blossom) which were delicious! If you're hungrier, they do offer 1lb. of steak tips for $20.95. Overall, I'd like to mention that Heiser's is a comfortable and homely restaurant and bar that blends in well with the mood and feel of the little northeastern Montana town of Baker. I'm glad I chose to travel through Baker on my national parks expedition and if anyone out there happens to come through Baker, I'd absolutely recommended stopping by here at Heiser's for drinks and or dinner. read more

I needed a quick lunch and the waitress suggested the pizza and salad bar. The salad bar was pretty picked over (it was about 1 p.m. 9/13/2022) and the pizza tasted like the cardboard it was sitting on. Yelp doesn't usually lead me astray, but this time it did. Full Time RVers and stopped in Baker to take a break. Went in and had a burger, fries and a tried the Old Skool 654 beer. Enjoyed the atmosphere there very much. It made ya wanna say "Bartender.. give me a whiskey!" The burger was awesome!!! And the beer was great! read more

Ok America....let me say this about that!! When you say or think of "bar and grill", this is what it's ALL about!! It's clean, it's organized, they hustle, they are attentive and they give you a great selection on their menu.... did I mention that only 2 great gals are doing it all?!?!? Katie behind the bar, at the front for the tables and handling the calls, her partner grilling away and keeping up on the orders at hand....PHEEEW!! My hats off to you ladies, you are what makes America Great again, keeping your customers happy and full!! I absolutely love this place! I had my first beer in Montana here. :) The cheese curds are FREAKING AMAZING!!! And the ranch dressing is pretty tasty too. The first night I had a cheddar wrap with grilled chicken. The second day I had a cheeseburger. I haven't tried the pizza yet but one guy at the bar was eating it and it looked really good. I'm kind of obsessed with the cheese curds. I'll be sad when I go back to Arkansas and can't eat them anymore! Lol! I highly recommend eating here. The service was great as well. Really enjoyed lunch here with our kids. Looks like a fun place to hang out if we weren't just driving through. Patio sitting was roomy and comfortable with about 10-12 tables of 6. They had corn-hole and a life-sized four square game. Lots of gambling machines inside though we didn't partake on this family trip. Food was good. The bbq brisket sandwich was delicious, steak tips were really tender and yummy as well though the breading was a little saltier than id want most. Sweet potato fries and cheese curds all good. Pizza was simple and fine. Service was really great and welcoming. I believe our server's name was Kayla and she was really attentive and helpful and friendly. Bathrooms were clean. This place definitely has a following with their own branded shirts, hats, can kookiest, cups, etc. overall I found it the right balance of funny and warm. I am sad this will be the last year we travel to Baker for the State High School Rodeo, since my son is graduating. All year long I crave Heiser's FANTASTIC pizza! The service is also AMAZING!
