I don't usually eat burgers because I think they are fatty. The fact that I finished a burger from Heidi's, it says a lot about their burgers. My husband and I both ordered a Heidi burger, one with the No. 42 (herbal sauce) and one with the No.78 BBQ sauce), one order of fries, and a Swiss coke. From the first bite of the burger, I could taste the smokey flavor. The bread texture is very different from any of the buns I have had before; a bit chewy but it goes really well with the burger. The meat was very juice. It was funny watching my husband eating the burger while the juice was dripping down from the burger. I didn't find the fries any special, but their ketchup was amazing. It was tangy sweet and it had a coke flavor to it. The Swiss coke was a bit on the sweet side, not as carbonated coca cola, but not flat either. We live in the US, visiting Switzerland as tourists, everything seems to be 2 to 3 times more expensive here. A good quality plain burger at Heidi's costs less than 10 CHF is definitely good value. All the ingredients are natural and we love their environmental friendly packagings. Definitely recommend this place. read more

We spent a couple days in Zurich, Switzerland, and we definitely wanted to try some Swiss burgers and Swiss cheese. Heidi & Tell had wonderful customer service, the cashier was so friendly and made great recommendations, especially with us visiting from the states. I ordered the Heidi Burger and it was yummy, but not as juicy as I usually like my burgers. The ingredients are clean, and you can definitely taste the difference. The herb sauce was so good and had a nice zest, which made the burger. Order a side of crispy sweet potato fries also, and you will be a happy camper! read more

I met an old friend at Bahnhof Enge today for some drinks after work, and we saw this place across the street with some nice outdoor seating and decided to give it a shot. This was my first time here. At about 7:15 pm on Wednesday evening, the place was kind of empty. There were two tables occupied outside, and no one inside. Neither my friend nor I were particularly hungry, but we were curious what the burgers were like, so we decided to share a meal. The cashier had no problem giving us two cups and cutting the burger in half so we could share. :) The burger itself was ok. Served on a whole-wheat bun, the meat was a bit lean and rarer than I'm used to. Kind of had a peppery taste that was ok, and the cheese was a bit strong (Schweizer Bergkaese), but a nice complement to the otherwise plain-ish burger. The tomato and lettuce were in there, but the taste and texture didn't really stand out for me. The fries were pretty yummy, coated with what looked like Parmesan cheese and some herbs. The skins were left on the fries, which added to the texture and appearance. We washed down our food with an Appenzell iisfee, a light, refreshing drink with a hint of green tea extract. We hung out there for over 2 hours, and they never kicked us out, which was nice. More people kept coming in--some alone, others in pairs. The place was about 3/4 full at about 9:30 pm, so I guess it's a popular place for a late dinner on weeknights. read more

The place is very well located close to Enge trainstation, the city center and of course the lake. Bar stools on one wall, booths on the opposite, it is perfect for large and small groups. The choice is not really what identifies this place, so I just picked the classical one. The meat was really well cooked, and you could see that I was made with love :) I liked the buns although, and the lettuce was odd but refreshing with this burger. As the popular video says, "the cheese was ouzin' ", which added a special flavor to the burger. The price is very good by Zurich standards, and the service was fast (I was the only customer in line at that time) and smiling. read more

One of my favorite burger joints in Zurich. I go to H&T at least a couple of times a month for lunch. The quality and taste of the food is always consistent. I'm never disappointed by their burgers or their fries. The beef and veggies are always fresh and tasty. I always get the Heidi burger (with single beef patty) while my husband usually get the Tell burger (double patty). I ordered The Ultimate once for dinner but my mouth wasn't big enough to get around it. The small outdoor sitting area is definite a plus on warm sunny days. TIPS: The house made bbq sauce is a must! It's good. Not great. Closer to 3.5 stars. They're on to something though. There are a lot of things they are doing right. The concept is simple, meaning the menu is minimal... Local, high-quality ingredients, prepared fresh to order. There are, however, a couple of things wrong. Despite having two cash registers, they only use one during the lunch rush because they didn't calculate enough counter space and they need that space to hand out the orders. That said, the wait isn't that horrendous. While I love a simple menu with the idea that quality is more important than quantity, if there's only one main menu item (a burger) and the only variations are double meat and cheese or no cheese, it better be damn good, or I'll get bored quick. Sure there are fries and salad, but again, only one of each. And unfortunately the burger doesn't have the wow-effect. OK, it's hard to impress an American with a burger in Switzerland, but it's also not that hard to make a good one. There are a couple of big mistakes here. 1) no sauce!?!?! 2) the beef is too lean - even though it's cooked rare (which I like) ,it's still not juicy enough!! They also forgot to add the extra cheese I ordered. :-( The fries and salad are both good too. Again, not great enough to make me dream about them. Oh well, I'll keep looking. And, hey, they're still new... Maybe they make some improvements... Service was super friendly!! A huge plus. read more

It`s an adorable lil place with burgers, salads, and fries. I passed it every day on my commute- I couldn`t believe my eyes! Right across from Bahnhof Enge, the location just rocks. The atmosphere is chill, and other than the music (Macy Gray), it`s truly tops! They`re a green organization so they avoid plastic when able, but the paper plates were so small we got stuff all over the table! The burgers were so tasty, and oh so juicy as well, that we didn`t need sauce on ours, which was totally swell! Everything was as healthy as a burger and fries can be, there were cucmbers on my burger- that I`ve never seen! The beer was also awesome, a local Zürich brew: they had Amboss to enjoy, and in several flavors too! The waitress was nice and friendly, but warned us about lunch time- I think it`s quite busy then, but late evening was totally fine. Heidi & Tell is a short walk from Bahnof Enge, top marks for location. It is a small-ish restaurant, probably about 10-11 tables. Both the times I was here it was relatively crowded, especially for a weeknight. Food is ordered up at the till, the selection of burgers is rather limited as is the choice of extra toppings. Service is friendly and helpful, and relatively quick. Coming to the food itself, the patties themselves are juicy and flavorful, however the burgers as a whole lack taste - coming off as relatively bland. You have to pay for condiments, as in most casual fast-food places in Switzerland. The burgers were served in take-away boxes, and there were no plates/dipping bowls for condiments, making the entire eating experience more complicated than it needed to be. read more

Counter is where you order and they will give you a number which gets called / put on display so you can get your food and bring to a table. They have very good burgers here. They use Swiss beef and it is nicely seasoned and cooked to still be juicy. The buns are decent, too. Frites here are perfectly cooked. The ketchup here is a high quality, too. They do not take cash here, so transactions are quick as they don't need to count out change. read more

My boyfriend craved a burger, and this one was vis-a-vis the FIFA Museum. When I went on their website, I really had to laugh at their slogans. Very clever! Great value for money in my opinion. I usually took the smaller 'Heidi' burger with cheese and I could not get bored of it. Fresh and good quality ingredients (I think the buns are whole grain, and everything is locally sourced) prepared deliciously and in a constant standard as far as I can tell after several visits to the place. Up until a week ago I would have given this place a 4 or 5 star review but the dark haired girl behind the counter was totally rude and that really annoys me. The burgers are great, the french fries are ok and usually the service is ok as well. The way an establishment treats it's customers which BTW are paying for the rude employees salary, is unacceptable. I don't know that I would recommend this place again because of the service. Fast Casual comes to Zurich! It was raining in Zurich and we had to catch an early flight the next day (waking at 4:30am) and needed to eat early. As they eat late in Europe what a treat to find Heidi and Tell. Full of young people and great atmosphere and music! Not the 80's stick they play elsewhere. Heidi Burger and Tell Burger were amazing. Love the sauce options. In a country where cows are a national treasure, you can't go wrong with a burger. So glad we stumbled across this place. read more

Meh.I should have read Aaron's review a little closer before going here... I thought I would give it a shot but I can honestly say I will try to never go back. It is pretty sad that my burger was so terrible because the decor was cool, the fries were good, drinks were sooo cheap, it was fresh, etc.. Main reasons I did not enjoy it: Rude service NO SAUCE ON THE BURGER (I can confidently say that there is not a burger place in America, aka land of burgers, that serves a burger without sauce, it is utterly insane) Could not taste the cheese Meat was overcooked and dry and the texture was unlike any other burger I have ever eaten, not in a good way, obvi. I ended up asking for packets of ketchup and went through like four for one burger.............. ugh. Also, they have different sizes and prices of burgers but no where on the menu does it describe the difference, which is quite important because the medium is the same as the small but with TWO huge patties instead of one. hahah.
