This was a wonderful way to wind down our day and enjoy a fantastic meal. There weren't many people in the restaurant but as we continued with our meal, more and more people stopped in. The waiters and waitresses went to lunch and yet our service was still wonderful. Our kids were given coloring books and colored pencils to color with while they waited for their meal. They loved their hot chocolates and they didn't make it too hot for our kids to enjoy, it was wonderful. The kids meal came with bitterballens, fries and salad and my kids licked the plate clean. I had the roasted chicken with dutch asparagus and chips, it was beautifully cooked. My husband had the lamb and again, perfectly cooked and we loved every bite. To finish our meal, we shared the cheese plate, with rum cake and ended it with some coffee. The staff treats every sandwich like something they're proud to make, assembling each one with care rather than rushing through the order. The breads are fresh, the ingredients are high quality, and the overall selection is strong without feeling cluttered. Everything looks thoughtfully prepared. The salmon sandwich is the standout for me -- fresh flavor, a generous portion of salmon without tipping into "too much," and balanced enough that you finish it feeling satisfied rather than weighed down. It's one I'd recommend to anyone. After ordering, you can wait outside on one of the small benches. They bring your finished sandwich out to you, and there's this almost charming sense of pride in how they hand it over -- like they know exactly how good it is and how happy you're about to be. There's no seating inside; everything is to go. This is the kind of spot where grabbing your sandwich and wandering along the canal feels like the right move.

It looked busy, so I didn't mind waiting. I decided to order the tosti platter, which is a selection of the chef's 3 favorite sandwiches. I was prepared to be surprised. The food took awhile, but I didn't mind the wait. When our server bought out the food, I was excited! Our chef chose to give us the tosti cheese, tosti kimchi, and tosti pizza. My first tosti was the pizza one, which was oozing with cheese and sauce. That tosti was my favorite one. The kimchi tosti was tangy and had a nice spice. I ended up taking the last tosti home. I can't recommend these sandwiches enough, since they're hot and fresh. Plus, they're extra crispy. The sauces were strong of flavor, especially the truffle mayo one.

In a way, it was like tempura batter but softer. The crust is good, but not the main character - often, in other cuisine the crust because the focus. Instead, the fish remained the focus of this dish and it was excellent. The mayonnaise sauce was tasty, but a bit too sweet to my liking. In general, mayonnaise in Holland seems to be a bit sweeter.
