This was the first time I've tried Kibbelinger, a common snack in Holland. It is deep fried chunks of fish, Cod being commonly used, and you enjoy it by dipping it in mayonnaise-based sauce. The Kibbelinger here was delicious. The fish had no fishy scent to it. The flavor was plentiful but not too much. The crust was interesting - not as crispy as other type of fried fish. In a way, it was like tempura batter but softer. The crust is good, but not the main character - often, in other cuisine the crust because the focus. Instead, the fish remained the focus of this dish and it was excellent. The mayonnaise sauce was tasty, but a bit too sweet to my liking. In general, mayonnaise in Holland seems to be a bit sweeter. As for the store itself, it had a wonderful line-up of various seafood items. I would love to try other stuff they have displayed in their shelves. read more
