Stopping in the windmill outdoor museum, we toured the grounds, and then wanted to eat lunch. This place looked inviting, so we stepped in and ordered a meal. It has a store right next door to it, which we didn't go into, which sells its own liqueurs. The restaurant is small with a bar there to try their products. We sat down at a table with a nice colored table cloth over it and ordered our meal. The place is somewhat dark, tho we were there during a rainy day, so with clouds in the sky, we may have been somewhat biased as to lighting. However, it isn't dark in the place, just not overly bright, quiet even when filled up with diners, and the wait staff is courteous and speaks English. I ordered a Salmon lox sandwich with onion, tomato and lettuce in a tasty firm bread (7.95 Euros), usually garnished with horseradish sauce, but I didn't have the sauce. I also ordered a hot chocolate which came, as do most of them, with steamed milk (3 Euros). The sandwich was great, lettuce crisp, salmon lox tasty, and bread not the typical American mush. The sandwich size was just right for a lunch, tho the hot chocolate could have been somewhat larger, but I loved the steamed milk versus water. My spouse had a ham sandwich with the same bread and fillings as mine, and he also was really happy with it. His sparklling water came in a bottle with a glass for drinking and it was a good price for the size. The servers were really friendly. We paid at the bar, and as we had been there quite some time, the cashier thot we had already paid, so we joked about dine and ditch. Good ambiance, good food, good prices, and a pleasant way to hang out on a rainy day. read more
