The large shaved ice is larger than my head... that's the way I like 'em! We ordered a combo flavor of lilikoi, mango, pineapple with macadamia nut ice cream. The flavors were light together but I did like the macadamia nut ice cream on the bottom of the shaved ice. Fun little general store with different souvenir offerings. A must go for tourists!

The BEST shaved ice spot in Kauai, hands down! I tried Uncle's Shaved Ice (#2 spot), JoJo's in Hanalei Bay (skip!), and Wailua Shaved Ice (stay away) and Hee Fat was the clear winner. The syrup to ice ratio was perfection, the shaved ice texture was soft and flaky, and the ice cream added just the right amount of support for the fruity flavors. I am so sad I didn't find this spot right away but benefit from my mistakes and go here! Service is friendly and while there's no indoor seating, there are benches out front.

Really nice workers welcomed us in and explained their flavors. I made my own combo with their regular flavors and my husband order their lava flow combo. It was great shave ice, took a star off because there isn't much seating. Since it's in a general store there's merchandise they don't want getting spilled on, but outside they only offer two benches so if they're taken you're eating it standing.

Located on the island of Kauai on the main strip in Lihue is Hee Fat General Store. It a Mom & Pop General Store with a Shave ice stand. Since it's on the Main Street in Lihue town they get a pretty number of customers walking around through the town. They have street parking or a paid parking lot in back which has a restroom, but you need to get a code to get in.

Shave ice #3 for our trip, and this one's story is the house made syrups! Hello Flavor Town! That and the option of Mac nut ice cream is the story here. Located in the back of the Hee Fat General Store - great merch, btw - and sharing a space with Makai Skate Shop, right off the main drag. Cute gift shop and skate shop. Ended up buying a hat and tshirts, too. Ice isn't ultra fine - so it holds up to their more intensely flavored syrups. I'm a sucker for the super fine ice that melts nearly instantly, so this is my one reservation. Service was quick and friendly. The POG was surprisingly tart and intensely flavored. Nice and refreshing. I didn't try the others pictured as I value my fingers and didn't want them bitten off. Would definitely like to try the other flavors and combos! I'll be back..

Idk how this shave ice was so amazing, but it was probably my favorite on the island. Ambiance is typical general store with cute souvenirs plus shave ice. Service was good. - Hawaiian sunrise shave ice (5/5): Mango, lilikoi, strawberry, pineapple, and substituted for macadamia nut ice cream. Perfect shave ice! Super snowy and fine, not too sweet, perfect creaminess with the ice cream.

Words simply cannot express how life-changing Hee Fat was. Coming to this island, I was a shave ice skeptic, believing that it couldn't possibly be any better than your average snow cone. After trying Jo Jo's, I became a convert, but after trying Hee Fat, I am a firm believer. There are a multitude of shave ice places in Kauai, but all pale in comparison to the superior Hee Fat. For starters, they make their syrups in-house and the ice is extremely plush (almost as delicate as snow flakes as they melt upon instant contact with your mouth). The haupia snow cap is an awesome added touch and adds a savoriness to the tartly flavored ice. The symphony of sweet flavors exploding in your mouth is essentially a religious experience, and it goes without saying that I'll definitely be back. BEST SHAVE ICE IN KAUAI!

If you want to taste the best shave ice in Kauai, I highly recommend Hee Fat General Store. The fruit juice is fresh handmade and the ice is so soft and smooth. We tried Hee Fat shave ice due to a recommendation from one of the locals while on the mountain tubing adventure. He wasn't wrong! The portions are huge and the shave ice is loaded with juices and creme. It was the tastiest and best shave ice of the many we tried during our week in Kauai. From where ever you are staying, make it a stopping point and give it a try. You will be glad you did. Aloha!

Hee Fat General Store is the place to go for some shave ice! They have lots of syrup options, but some flavors do run out towards the end of the day. I really appreciated that the syrups weren't overly artificial tasting, but rather had a nice fruity flavor. I went with the Blue Hawaiian, which had blueberry, pineapple, and coconut flavors, with macadamia nut ice cream underneath. My favorite had to be the blueberry, which reminded me of a blueberry smoothie. The shave ice did melt fast, though, so be sure to eat it quickly! The ice cream was really creamy and was a delicious way to end the treat. One final thing to note - there isn't any seating in the actual stop, but there are some benches outside. If you don't mind walking while eating, I'd recommend heading over to eat it at the beach!

The shave ice here is good, but we felt that the staff was very rude. The woman working at the counter ignored us for a few minutes, left after we ordered, and it took 10 or 15 minutes to get one shave ice. We thought that you got a much better value for your money and a friendlier staff just down the street at Ono Ono. read more

Apparently I missed the memo that this joint has the best shave ice on the island, but what I didn't miss is the absolutely adorable gift shop with the cutest souvenirs I found on the island. I know that little t-shirt shops/chachkis joints are a dime a dozen on this strip, but I found my favorite trinkets here including little surfer kid salt and pepper shakers that I couldn't resist. The staff is also SUPER nice and friendly. Go here. Laugh at the name of the store. But obtain some cute little knickknacks. read more

We came here based on a guide book review (claiming this place had the best shaved ice on the island) and I would definitely agree. During our stay in Kauai I would try and come up with an excuse every day to head to Kapaa to be able to stop in and grab shaved ice from this place. Get the real fruit syrups, totally worth the upcharge. Coconut and strawberry are a must, guava and mango are also excellent. The mac nut ice cream is just ridiculous. read more

Their shaved ice is marginal. It falls apart and melts quickly as soon as it is given to you. If you want the best shaved ice on the island, go to Jo Jo's Original in Waimea....not the "other Jo Jo's". read more

BEST CHAVE ICE on the Island! The ice is so fine that it is perfect shave ice and not like a snow con. Their costumer service is incredible, as they are all so kind. They put ice cream in their shave ice and have many choices to choose from! Their sign is a little small to find but it is certainly worth the drive. read more

The best shave ice in 10 days of trying. And, if you buy something in the store, you get free ice cream. We must have looked colorful eating our shave ice outside on the bench because a lady stopped and asked if she could take our picture. If you're going to have the shave ice, go big. You definitely want the snow cap and all the fixin's. read more

Second favorite shaved ice on the island. Ice is fluffy and the the syrup is so flavorful. I ordered pineapple and cherry and I felt like a kid. The serving size is huge and I was determined to finish it all. Didn't take much to do that! haha read more

We stopped in for shave ice after visiting the Coconut Festival on 10/5/13. Definitely the best shave ice we've ever had. Not only did it taste good, the serving size was enormous! Like laugh out loud enormous. My wife got the Lava Flow and I got the Root Beer Float. The guy who was working there was super friendly and helpful and even gave us a free small cup of plain ice for our infant son. Definitely would visit again. read more

Came in here one day back in June '11 while bumping around kapaa for last minute souvenirs. AMAZING shave ice carefully crafted with pride. Ordered one pog and one lava flow both w/ mac-nut kicker. The texture was cotton candy of ice! I'm so glad we stumbled into this place. I believe it is a young husband/wife business. Both were extremely nice. Delicious shave ice. May have been our favorite on the island. They are inside the store so you can go in our browse the touristy offerings before you get one. Definitely get it with macadamia ice cream in the bottom because reasons. They told us to come back if we needed more syrup but we didn't. read more

Shaved ice is FLUFFY, the real-fruit syrups were good. We aren't huge fans of macadamia (blasphemy here, I know), so we skipped the ice cream, and still loved this treat. As others say, it also has some great gift items. read more

We got shave ice 4 times here while on Kauai (would have been everyday had we discovered it sooner!). So yummy! Loved all the flavors and how patient the staff were while my kids decided on their flavors. We loved shopping in the store while waiting for our shave ice. We all bought souvenirs here! The favorite is the stuffed animal chicken my youngest got! So cute! Great service and warm smiles here. Can't wait to come back here on another trip. =) read more

Too bad they don't or won't answer their phone. I was going to give them a 5 star review. I purchased something from this store but it was lost on the trip home. They are the only store that had it and I wanted to order a replacement. The phone either rings and rings or they just pick it up and put it back down. Some customer service. read more

No one has mentioned the delicious hot dogs at Hee Fat! My husband and I were driving through town and stopped to do a little souvenier shopping. It was lunch time and we wanted to grab a little something before heading back to the cruise ship. We each got an all beef hot dog served on a sweet hot dog bun topped with passion fruit wasabi mustard and pineapple relish and served with a side of chips for $5. We grabbed a couple of drinks and sat at the picnic table outside. It was a delicious combination and plenty to eat. I didn't try the shaved ice, but it looked very refreshing. Maybe next time, but don't overlook the yummy hot dogs!!! read more

Def my favorite place to get shave ice on the island! I went during the off hours and the wait wasn't too long. I love getting the coconut milk snow cap its a must! The woman at the cash register was so patient and understanding of any question we had. She helped us choose options, and recommended certain entrees based on what we were each craving and enjoy eating. There were many things I wanted to try, but I went ahead and went with the salmon with miso based on her recommendation. It did not disappointment! It was so light, yet extremely flavorful. The salad as well comes with a light and tangy calamansi dressing. There is also ample of seating inside. We went about an hour or so before closing, and the place was packed. I don't know if it's always like this, but people were also showing up 10-15 mins before closing and continue to stagger in. We were able to snag a table while waiting for our food to be ready. Luckily, it was just a short walk from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. One thing I quickly learned about Kauai is that many places close early, so I'm glad we made it in time. I ordered the chili pepper chicken and poke plate with mac salad and rice. Let me tell you, the mac salad was the best I had on the island--absolutely delicious! The poke and chili pepper chicken were also fantastic. I always forget how generous the portions are with a plate lunch; my husband and I could have easily shared one. We opted to take our food to go because there was a family inside with two teenage daughters having a bit of a meltdown, making quite a scene. I think one of the owners noticed and felt bad about the noise, so they kindly gave us two free Ube pies for dessert, which were a delightful treat. We enjoyed our meal back at the hotel, sitting by the beach near the pool, and it was perfect. I loved everything about this place and wish I had more time to explore their menu. I'll definitely be back on my next visit to Kauai!

Was looking for shave ice after spending the day at the beach and came across this little truck…read morelocated in what looks like a food truck parking lot. Husband and I ordered a shave ice each and the price was good as it seemed the same as other spots around the island. One thing different is that the portion is much much bigger than other places we've tried. Also the scoop of ice cream I asked for wasn't just a tiny scoop, but a large portion of ice cream. We each asked for 3 flavors and it was also drizzled with coconut cream. One of the flavors that I had was Melona (melon), which reminded me of the Melona ice cream bars at the Asian Markets. Was hot the day we got it, so it was melting fast, but not to worry, we had the straw and it because a nice slushy drink. Highly recommend stopping by here to try. Park in the little lot next to this food truck lot. We parked across the street and it was hard to cross with all the traffic.
