The person who hit me did not have enough PIP (Personal Injury Protection) insurance to cover the surgery, subsequent doctor appointments, occupational therapy and any other possible medical issues. On the advice of friends I needed to find a personal injury attorney. I asked a friend if she had any suggestions. It so happened her former neighbor was an attorney. He gave her two recommendations. I called both firms. One firm did not return my call. I then called Arthur Leritz at Adler-Giersch and left a message. He promptly returned my call. We set up an appointment to meet at his office. Their office is located a block from the Museum Of Pop Culture. Parking is not an issue because they have their own parking lot. I met with Arthur and his paralegal, Maria. Both of them were professional, friendly, understanding and kind. Arthur was great at explaining things step by step and in communicating by phone, email and text messages. I never thought I would say this about an attorney but he is truly a nice man. He cares about his clients. I highly recommend the services of Arthur Leritz at Adler-Giersch.

For those who lean toward the former approach, Adrienne Keith is a fantastic resource, not only as a lawyer but as a calm, steady person. She works in Collaborative Law as well as mediation, and is active not only in volunteering but also in writing an insightful, funny, sensitive blog about divorce and family law-related topics (http://splitsvillenews.com/). While I didn't technically utilize Collaborative Law (she provides legal divorce services other than just that process), Adrienne was so helpful in carefully walking me through each step of the process, always calm, professional yet warm, and perfectly prepared. I truly appreciated her attitude of non-combativeness and of working to find mutual solutions to sticky issues. Should you find yourself or know someone who's in the situation of needing representation through a divorce or family law issue, do yourself a favor and get in touch with her. Plus, on the way out of the courthouse she handed me a really thick envelope....When I got home, I opened it. A lovely bar, of bittersweet chocolate. What more can a girl want when she gets her old name back?

I have worked with him on multiple moving violation cases for speeding, HOV-lane and red-light tickets. They happened at the same time and in close relation to each other, and yes I have learned my lesson. During this process I took defensive driving school as recommended by Martin to improve my driving and strengthen my case. He knows what he is doing. 11/10 (for getting better results than I wanted) Will be my future attorney of choice and will recommend to friends!

I was hit by a vehicle as a pedestrian and the driver was 100% at fault but their insurance company continually low balled and downplayed my experience and injuries and consistently questioned my worth. It is a nightmare being hit by a car and having to sort out all the insurance logistics while I was still in recovery and I am so glad that I had Martin to take over the case and sort everything out. Other lawyers that I had talked to made me feel like I was at fault for not continuing care, for not reaching out earlier, etc. when I had no idea what I was doing because I had never been hit by a car before. From the beginning, Martin never made me feel bad for not knowing or not having certain information and truly lifted such a big weight off of my shoulders by taking over my case. I am so thankful for all the help that he provided and eventually he closed my case for thousands of dollars more than what they were originally offering. There is no reason for someone who is injured and has been hit by a car to have to be continually harassed by the driver's insurance to close the case so I would highly recommend working with Martin from the beginning of your case. He is so communicative and makes you feel truly taken care of, so if you in a similar situation at all he is the person you should work with to close your case. Thanks Martin!

Warning this review is long but descriptive! Stay away from Mike Gallagher Attorney in Monroe! He…read moreis a Nightmare on Elm Street! Run, and I mean run this lawyer will sorely disappoint! He is: Overpriced, overconfident, abrasive, demanding and full of broken promises- Learn from others misfortune. Mikes slogan of "Don't be a weekend dad" is just that a slogan that he uses to lure people at the most desperate point of their life. He operates on a flat fee basis, makes a ton of promises he will never keep! He totes the flat fee as beneficial to the client as he claims it includes everything but once he has your money the "everything" quickly changes to only include what he decides he wants to do. You will also be doing the majority of the work for your case not Mike but you. He will hand you a thick green binder with a huge list of homework he wants done in less than a week to a very specific set of rules as well as pages worth of additional gathered items and classes and assessments that will cost you thousands! None of these are included in your flat fee! Also, important to note his fee is not all encompassing as he pushes depositions of many people that are an additional cost, meditation is additional, and more. He will only work with people he recommends that are also highly priced. Mike will also constantly remind you that he is the captain of this ship and did I mention that the assigned homework is cumbersome and takes hours that most other attorneys do for you. Mike will have you preparing his exhibits and does not want you to email him items but expects you to drive things to him instead. The homework he assigns rarely meet his standards and takes hours and multiple attempts. He will also berate and actually scream at you for not doing his homework to his satisfaction both in person and over email. He also cannot take any feedback whatsoever that he feels is not complimenting him and will threaten to fully pull out from your case or demand the terms of your contract change to keep his ego intact. After paying his exorbitant flat fee (in the case I was involved with, 30 grand for 3 months,) not one thing he promised was even attempted. For 30 grand we had numerous continuances for a hearing that was suppose to happen the first day of retention and didn't occur until four days before the contract expired. He refused to file a contempt when the other party missed visits, refused to ask support be lowered when the numbers were clearly skewed and refused to give the other side discovery back. He also accepted numerous continuances without agreement. Things he is good at are bullying, demanding meetings where he is constantly distracted by his office dog that runs amuck, drawing out your case, ignoring your emails, but sending hundreds of emails on his own or calling nonstop (which if billed he charges for, of course) if he wants something, numerous requests, spending your money with endless continuances to extend the contract and continuing hearings so your forced to extend your contract for even more. Oh and did I mention he was accused of sexual harassment by at-least two of his prior assistants and settled. This was not surprising since the first meeting we had with him he made reference to being sued for sexual harassment and moving forward the women in our family felt so uncomfortable they wouldn't return to his office alone. This man is a nightmare, the very essence of slime-ball attorney and will do very little while taking endless amounts of cash that only hurt your case! Run! Do not under any circumstances give this man money! You will be so disappointed! Read the many other negative reviews that state similar to mine. Dig for reviews on this man beyond the first few you see because there are plenty that will detour you! *Disclaimer these opinions are solely this writers alone based on direct experience with this attorney.

My initial email, which was the same to everyone, simply stated that the court system is impossible to navigate pro se and therefore I am seeking an attorney to ensure that paperwork and scheduling are performed correctly and to provide representation in court. I briefly outlined the status of the case and a few key details upfront about what the case involved. The following is my interaction with Mr. Gallagher, verbatim: Mr. Gallagher's initial response to my inquiry, "I am not a paper pusher and don't work piece meal. My minimum retainer is $10k, flat fee for two months." My Response, "Can you please clarify what you mean by, 'I am not a paper pusher and don't work piece meal.'" Mr. Gallagher, "You hire a lawyer to represent you and prepare the case.   I usually ignore and circumvent any pleadings they have filed pro se before my involvement.   My law degree and 43 years in practice mean much more than your google search." My Response, "Okay. That is the purpose of seeking an attorney to hire, to rely upon their expertise and have them do the work needed to move the case forward. I'm confused on your proclamation that you don't do paperwork and that your law degree means more than google, and how that pertains to my inquiry on your services. I believe my point in my initial inquiry was that this court system is hostile to pro se representatives and therefore I need an attorney to represent this in court; the next step being [REDACTED], that is the current status of where this case is at. I appreciate your reply. I will be consulting elsewhere. Best wishes." Mr. Gallagher, "Haha. You get what you pay for. Good luck. Btw, my fee just went up to $15k." My Response, "J. Michael Gallagher, I am forwarding this interaction to the bar association. As I mentioned in my initial email, your contact information was provided to me directly from them. I think they would be interested in knowing how you conduct yourself. It sounds like 43 years in this business has turned you into a callous person with a false sense of importance, who is unable to have even a basic interaction without being exceedingly rude and projecting defensive statements without adequate prompting. It may be time for you to retire. No sane person would hire an attorney such as yourself for any amount of money. You need to remind yourself that this inquiry was an interview for a job on your part, where I would be hiring you. You represented yourself honestly and I am appreciative of how upfront you are with your personality defects. This is a business transaction and as the person with the funds approaching attorneys to bid on the job (You are one of 200 lawyers contacted, you are not special in this), I am in the position of authority here. It is sometimes hard to gauge whether a person is decent or not, especially as it pertains to lawyers. You made this easy and I will be sharing your words verbatim with other members of the community that are seeking legal counsel, as well as informing the bar association of how you interact with prospective clients. Godspeed." I wouldn't work with this guy even if he were holding a cardboard sign on the corner offering his services pro bono. In my opinion, it is unfortunate that someone of such poor character, in a field with already unsettling power dynamics where victims are often further victimized, has had a successful career spanning 43 years. I would not recommend reaching out to this lawyer.
