Two years ago, a driver fell asleep & rear-ended my family (myself, my husband & son) just as we started out on a family camping trip in a brand new camper. Because of the position I was in, I was injured much more than my husband & son. Our camper was totaled (never even used), our vehicle sustained over $8500 damage & there was over 2 years of medical treatments, therapy & surgery. I was rear-ended on I-5 by a large SUV, and the driver who hit me had no insurance. The accident exacerbated a previous back injury and required treatment with physical therapy, acupuncture and anti-inflammatory medication. I tried for over a year to monitor reimbursement to my health care providers and work with the auto insurance PIP coverage along with their responsibility to cover me for an accident with an uninsured motorist. I was hit by a car in a crosswalk. After the woman hit me she got out of her car and stated that it was all her fault, she said that she had looked to the left but not the right. Later, when she was interviewed by a police officer, she stated that I appeared out of nowhere, that it wasn't her fault. The officer did not interview me as I was being treated by an aid car. He wrote it up as equally my fault and hers. She didn't receive a ticket. Later I checked the online statement and found what he'd done. He told me I could write a statement and bring it in.
