I've seen some great looking custom cakes come out of the bakery here. I was so excited to be able to order one and it didn't disappoint. I was extremely unprepared and didn't have any pictures printed out for the bakery to reference. But it wasn't an even an issue. The patient young woman that I placed the order with pulled a cake picture up on her phone and I agreed that it would make for a great starting point. I wanted the cake decorator to have enough creative freedom to design. Safe to say that I'll be back for more cake! And all of my groceries. Don't sleep on the fresh squeezed orange juice in produce, their private label (own brand) queso (the white is my personal favorite), or the aguacate (green salsa with avocado - yes, there was a whole half in my latest tub) next to the cream cheese. With prices rising on everything so fast,you still get free entertainment at this circus for a couple of weeks . This tiny hamlett of Melissa Texas is literally busting at the seems with major big boxes moving into the area. HEB joins Bucees and Kroger firmly anchoring this area as resources for the river of new residents. The store itself is something to behold. You can't visit without leaving with the intention to return soon. Produce,meat ,seafood,wine/beer and everything in-between is waiting for you to choose from multituts of choice in each category. Heb pharmacy received an Adderall prescription for me from my Dr. On Thursday before labor day. They on their own canceled my prescription because they have a new policy at heb, not a law where heb will only fill your control med if you were face to face with your Dr when the prescription was sent in. Thanks to them I have been out of my Adderall since Friday. My Dr was away for the holiday on Friday and now I am waiting for my Adderall to be sent to CVS, hopefully on Tuesday. My Dr office said heb is the only pharmacy that has been calling them checking on when their patients had their last appointment. No on from HEB pharmacy made me aware of their policy. I saw my prescription in progress on Thursday and by Friday my prescription no longer existed. There should have been communication from the pharmacy that this was their new protocol and it should have been given to their patients that fill controls in advance so they can change pharmacies and not be left without meds over long holiday's or weekends. I am literally in another state due to a death in my family. My husband was going to pick my Adderall up and overnight it to me on Thursday. Now I have to wait for my Dr to come back. Send it to pharmacy and my husband will have to overnight the medication. If heb didn't take it upon themselves to void my prescription I would have had my medicine on Friday and would not have been forced to go without my medication for days. I see my Dr every 3 months and they send my refills into the pharmacy in between appointments. I pay my Dr every 3 months 125.00. Heb wants me to pay 125.00 every month for unneeded extra appointments costing me 375.00 every 3 months. They obviously don't care for their patients since they automatically cancel their prescriptions without so much as a word. I have been on Adderall since 2019 and I make sure to call in for refills with my doctor so that I don't go without . If they had given me the decency of a phone call on Thursday, I would have been able to get my Dr to send my medication to another pharmacy. Thanks to heb I am without my much needed Adderall for a week because they took it upon themselves to void it without a word. Buyer beware at Heb pharmacy. They are treating all control meds that way. I bet they did something wrong concerning control drugs and they got fined and had to give the dea a drug plan protocol for correcting the issue. When your pharmacy changes their protocol suddenly they did something that the DEA came down on them for. I worked for big pharmacies for 24 years and know what I am talking about. read more

Disclaimer up front: I do have one big issue with this location specifically related to the pharmacy drive up service, but I'll save it until the end. For almost everything you'd want or need a grocery store for, this location delivers. It's beautiful, expansive, well laid out, clean, and the staff is always friendly. The product selection is outstanding, and the products are fresh and well stocked. The HEB and Central Market branded products are some of the best store branded products around, we often choose them instead of the national brands, as they save money and are often even better than the big brands. The produce area is well kept; you'll almost always find a partner there restocking, cleaning, and keeping things nice. The deli meat area is well staffed and the partners are patient and friendly when packing your selections. The ready to eat and ready to cook meals are plentiful and outstanding; we've had them on many evenings for a quick easy to prepare meal. Parking is plentiful as well, and the store is super easy to get in and out of from the two major highways, US75 and SH121. Finally, let's talk about that pharmacy thing. The pharmacy "drive up" (note: not drive through) is simply terrible. The bank drive through style vacuum tubes are hard to reach and manipulate, and it's just a bad experience. I spoke to the manager to complain about this as well. Unfortunately, nothing can be done, as this just how it was designed. But to be very clear, the pharmacy itself and the staff are top notch, so just go inside to get your prescriptions and you won't have my problems. read more

I had to experience the bitter disappointment of trying out the new, so called, "true" BBQ restaurant that is located in select H.E.B. stores. BLUF -- If Florence Butt or her son Howard Edward Butt knew that the little grocery store they founded was eventually going to sink this low, they'd have picked a different business venture. The location I visited was in Melissa, Texas just not far from the Texas/Oklahoma border. I really wanted some brisket, so I told my iPhone to find me the closest BBQ joint. The H.E.B. is just off of Highway 75 across from a Buc-ee's. Other than one major health and safety issue, the physical layout of the place wasn't bad. It's sort of like a BBQ restaurant at an airport. There were two levels and even an elevator for patrons to ride upstairs to the upper dining area. While I was standing there looking at the menu on the wall, I heard the leadership in the kitchen get angry and tell the associate working the window that they had neglected to put the container of queso into a drive thru customer's bag. I can only imagine how that person felt when they opened their bag and found their order was incomplete. My experience: 1) The pricing scheme is unacceptable! I wanted the two meat plate. The board listed the price of the two meat plate as $14.00 - $25.00. A valued customer doesn't know how much their meal is until they order on the touch screen. I'm in my 60s and I've been eating BBQ in Texas as long as I can remember. Sure, many BBQ joints in Texas have pricing as: "Two meat plate - $xx.xx (ribs + $x.xx"). I've never experienced, in my life a business where a customer doesn't know how much they are going to have to pay until they order. I'll have to check with the FTC and see if this is even legal. 2) An order can't be completed for an in-store order unless you provide a phone number. There is no override. Hell will freeze over before I'll give H.E.B. my phone number for an eat in order paid for with cash. I just typed in a random phone number. I wonder if someone received a text and was thinking, "What's an H.E.B?" 3) Value -- None here! I paid $21.00 for a two meat plate with brisket and burnt ends. What adds insult to injury was that there was only ONE... One slice of brisket. I've never had a serving of brisket that had less than three slices. I didn't order a slice of meatloaf! For ~$25.00, I can get an entire pound of brisket, or most other meats at just about any joint where I live here in Central Texas. 4) I don't normally complain about portions being too big, but the sides were. Most of the two sides went into the garbage. I'd rather have a side a third of this size and get larger meat portions. 5) The waste bin was overflowing with garbage and obviously not being monitored. This is a health and safety violation in many states. Other than the above, it was a beautiful day in Texas! My advice to anyone who reads this is to look elsewhere for your BBQ requirements. Let's face it. Buying BBQ at a grocery store is like buying sushi at a gas station. I'm waiting for H.E.B.'s poor customer support to respond to my positive input on their website. Mark my words it will probably contain: "Thank you for your input. We value our customers' input and will seriously review your comments." "We are so sorry for your experience. We've contacted the store manager and region supervisor." "We'd like to offer you a gift card for your experience." NOTE: I DO NOT accept bribes so I will not be taking anything from H.E.B.! I want to start by saying I genuinely love HEB, it's our favorite grocery chain, so much so I will drive 45min to go to the McKinney HEB. Most locations deliver on that reputation. The Melissa location, unfortunately, is a real disappointment and doesn't reflect the standard HEB has set elsewhere. The store frequently feels like it's operating in a state of disarray. Shelves are often bare, items are regularly out of stock, and the overall organization leaves a lot to be desired. More frustrating, the product quality has been consistently questionable. We've picked up cheese that turned out to be molded and tortillas that were stale, almost as if they'd been reheated and restocked rather than rotated properly. Produce tends to be overripe or outright unusable. These aren't one-time flukes. It seems like it's a pattern. The staff experience is also a notable departure from what you expect at HEB. Employees frequently seem frustrated, and the warm, helpful vibe that defines most HEB locations is largely absent here. The online order pickers are a particular issue. Their large carts are routinely parked across aisles while employees chat, making navigation difficult. Politely asking them to move is not well received. I understand they have a job to do, and I respect that, but at every other HEB location I've visited, it simply isn't a problem. The cashiers are flat out grumpy. They will fling your items across the scanner and down to the bagger, and the customer frequently has to bag their own groceries. Which I don't mind normally but they could be a little nicer about it. We also attended the crawfish boil event on the first Sunday it launched, we got there about an hour in, and it was a mess!! They were already nearly out of supplies, staff had no answers about whether more food would be prepared, and one employee admitted live crawfish were sitting on a pallet somewhere but he had no idea what was happening with them. We ended up driving to the McKinney location instead, which was well worth the extra miles. I hope HEB management takes a closer look at this location. The potential is there, it just isn't being realized. Until things improve, we'll be making the drive to McKinney. 2 stars because I love HEB and everything they do for Texas but just not this location. read more

I had a grocery store cart accident at H-E-B in Melissa Texas on 11/13/2025! It was assigned H-E-B Case # 09828841, I was in the McKinney Medical Center for 18 days! I had to have a complete left hip replacement and went through rehab at the hospital! On the last day of rehab, I was going through my last rehab session! All of a sudden, I had a heart attack getting ready for a workout on a bicycle simulator! I was very lucky the heart attack occurred in the hospital! I wouldn't be here today! I was rushed immediately to intensive care unit! I had two more heart attacks! They put me on an external pacemaker machine! The next day, they implanted a Pacemaker which I still have today! My life has changed dramatically and I need further attention and support to get my life going in a limited environment unfamiliar to me! I will need some type of battery operated vehicle, a walking cane, and a walker! Even with those, I will be very limited in my activities! I will need further medical attention! H-E-B has refused to accept any responsibility for my accident and permanent injuries! Attached are 2 pictures, both showing the location of my accident before and after! You will see they accepted the mistake by lining the curb with a display racks to curtail any other similar customer accidents! They offered me $750 as a show of good faith! My first visit... It was an impulse buy. I was there to shop... The shopping gets a five stars. But my experience with HEB barbecue was a two star. I ordered two 3 meat plates... with fried okra and potato salad on the side... And their banana pudding. I also asked for pickles and onions... Which they offer for free. I did my shopping and I picked up my food and went home. When I got home, I realized... They apparently stiffed me on the fried okra... no pickles... No onions... But they did give me the bread. Maybe I overlooked something? Am I supposed to remind them to complete the order? Anyway... Word of advice... They only give you one tiny little container of barbecue sauce... It's not enough for the amount of meat on a three meat plate. They should double that. The barbecue was good. Good smoky flavor. The banana pudding... I don't think it's pudding. I just had one of the best customer service experiences at H-E-B recently, all thanks to Amanda (a manager) and an associate named Z. The store was really busy, and I had just joined the end of a long checkout line when Amanda kindly invited me to unload my cart at a closed lane. She actually opened it up just to check me out personally--such a thoughtful gesture that saved me a lot of time. I'm nearly 9 months pregnant, and both Amanda and Z went out of their way to make things easier for me. Z even helped load everything into my car and returned my cart for me. My husband and I used to enjoy shopping at HEB. When we moved, we were looking forward to shopping there again. I don't know what y'all have done (possibly jumping on the DEI bandwagon that literally NOBODY with half a brain cell asked for) but the majority of your employees need to be fired. There was this one cashier with a braid and liberal cat-lady glasses who was always dismissive towards us the two times we went through her line. Close to Thanksgiving, I approached a young girl with glasses and short hair with some blue dye in it who was working Curbside. She was in one of the aisles and I asked her where something was. Prior to this, the Curbside employees had no problem helping me. They would look up the item on the little hand held devices they carry around with them. However, THIS liberal arts degree major just shrugged me off with, "It's in one of these aisles" (gesturing vaguely) "I don't know." That made us both very angry and we complained to the cashier while leaving without the item. She asked if we wanted to speak to a manager, but we wanted to hurry out since the store was busy so we said no. We just bought the item from another store, so great job losing money there, HEB... Then a few weeks ago we were in a hurry and the cashier checking us out got distracted talking with me and didn't remember if she gave us our receipt. She said that she must have given it to us and let us go. Then while we were in the parking lot trying to hurry to the car, a male employee chased after us and said the payment didn't go through and they would have to try again. Then he WALKED AWAY without giving us further instruction, so we were confused as to whether he could take the payment or we would have to go back inside. We returned inside confused and waited near the cashier's counter while she was checking out someone else. She acknowledged us when she was done with the other customer and had my husband try the payment again. That ended up making us late getting home so we had to skip lunch to make it to our appointment on time. Then there was TODAY where we went through the check out line and were helped out by a tall kid who was a bit round in the midsection and a Hispanic named Kayla or something like that. Kayla's whole vibe screamed ATTITUDE and she refused to even look at us or even acknowledge my husband when he tried to thank her for something. But she was more than happy to acknowledge her coworker Vanessa in the next checkout line. I started refusing to look at Kayla because my husband and I just left a job where we were relentlessly racially discriminated against by Hispanics and didn't want to be reminded of that. We get home and a few hours later, my husband can't find his second carton of oat milk that he was sure he grabbed. I checked the receipt and only one carton was scanned. This crap is why we never leave our house anymore. I've worked in the grocery industry for 9 years and watched it go to Hell. This kind of treatment towards customers would get someone fired when I was 18. read more

As other HEB stores this location doesn't disappoint. The location is perfect and the products are consistent. I have a recommendation: As would be expected this store gets a lot of customer traffic. However, the isles are a little too narrow to accommodate the crowds and the store employees who are shopping for online shoppers. Their carts are very large and everywhere and block many isles. I just left the store and as any Saturday it was very crowded. Due to the narrow isles and employee shopper carts it was a nightmare navigating the isles. Please widen your isles somehow. read more

Good sale prices. The quality of H-E-B store brands are unbeatable. Most of the time we prefer the store brands over the name brands for taste and quality. Just watch if you're buying coupon items with the yellow hanging coupons to take more than one coupon if you're buying more than one item. They don't limit the items most of the time but will only give you the sale price on one if you only bring one coupon and charge you full price for the second item. read more

I live about 20 minutes away (3 minutes from a different H‑E‑B location), but I make the drive into this location several days a week because they have better stock and it is more organized. This week I noticed on my receipt when I got home that one of my digital coupons did not apply to my purchase. It resulted in a $24.06 over charge. I took my receipt back up to the store showing proof of coupon and purchase asking for a correction, and they told me the only way to "make it right" was to return the food and repurchase it for the correct price. This means I would have to yet again drive home and pack up all my food and drive back to settle it? Had this been any other store with a real customer service department I could have handled it from home with a phone call or web chat- but due to it being a "in house" department- it has been way more than a hassle.... Now I have asked if I can just settle it with the store closest to me to save the commute, but 3 employees can't seem answer that question- so who knows what is to come.... All I can say for sure is I will not be giving Melissa any more of my money read more

My wife Betty and I have been anxiously waiting for this store in our neighborhood. We drove close to an hour to Frisco when that store opened. We regularly visited the Mckinney store for the last year. Now we have our own bigger and better HEB!! Like all HEB stores it is 95% great. We still have to shop Kroger, Sprouts, and Winco for some items. This will be our go-to grocery store from now on. We love the selections and prices. Their Wagu beef is delicious and affordable. Their produce is fresh and mostly USA grown. I love their store brand grapefruit juice, They have a butcher shop meat department unlike the otherstores that sell packaged meat only. Their Texas barbecue is the best barbecue in the Mckinney area. We had it on Sunday and the chopped brisket was tender and delicious. Even with the opening weekend crowd, the service was faster than the other barbecue joints. Try it and you will be back. Several areas that HEB can improve this store and it's other locations include: 1. Need to add an affordable English Muffin. They have the usual Thomas and Orrowheat muffins that cost over $4.00. Kroger used to sell a store brand bag of 6 for about $2. Winco sells a bag of 6 for $1.48 That is a size and cost range that HEB doesn't cover. A Hill country bag of 6 English muffins for under $2 would get my business. 2. Asparagus. The fresh Asparagus at HEB comes from Peru or Mexico. There is not much selection for canned Asparagus. Kroger is the only store in the area that sells grown and canned in the USA long spear asparagus. HEB needs to carry grown in the USA asparagus. 3. Fermented dill pickles. It is very hard to find fermented pickles. Sprouts carries Bubbies brand which are canned in Canada. I would love to see these or a USA brand of fermented pickles at HEB. 4. Acoustics. The open bare ceilings in the store resonate with the screams of the brats that people drag in. Some kind of sound deadening treatment would help. The screaming of a kid ruined what was a pretty good lunch in your barbecue seating area. The money spent on the elevator and upper seating area would have been better used to improve the acoustics. On the plus side: Even with an enormous crowd, the aisles were un-congested. The picker carts that are a problem at Frisco and Mckinney were absent. Keep it that way. Pickers and walk in customers are not compatible. Over all: This is a great store. Welcome to North Texas HEB!! read more

Stopped at this location today and thought I would purchase some fruit for my grandchildren in Colbert Oklahoma.. upon entry I see a big yellow sign that says sangria plums for $1.98 (HEB Premium) no coupon around. So I grab a few bags plus their cherries at $1.77 a lb and go to the register....the whole time I'm thinking....i only have two items...what is the chances for this place to screw me like everyone else does...boy was I wrong. The sangria plums rang up at $2.98 lb no big deal but I had 15 lbs which makes a $15 difference. The lazy help at the self-checkout walks over and then confirms but has more interest in talking to the female associate than correcting the problem . I must have been the only person to correct this but HEB is up in the black in this produce "Sale".everyone else at HEB got screws in their Sangria plum purchases...really sick when you think about how many people are spending their hard earned money in this place just to get stabbed in the back in every aisle they turn out of. read more
