fifi & maria are the best love it there. been going to them since 2012.They always slay me

Resie gives black owned businesses a bad name. I did my hair at this shop a few days ago. I initially found "Resie braids" on Instagram and it looked credible but it is definitely false advertisement. I got to the shop and asked Resie (the business owner) if she could do light weight braids and even showed her photos. She immediately agreed of course and passed me over to one of her employees. I explained to her employee what I wanted and she understood. While doing my hair, Resie kept coming over and micromanaging the young lady to do my hair the way she would and also talked down to her. Ultimately, putting pressure on her and making her do it wrong. The way she spoke to her employees was disrespectful, so why would I be any different. After paying and halfway through the hairstyle, I realized the braids were extremely heavy. Resie already left with my money ($300). I told the young lady that the style is wrong and she said she had to call her boss (understandable). She gave me the phone and I explained to Resie that the style she told her employee to do is wrong and it is way too heavy for my head. I told her I can't have hair that's too heavy due to a medical condition. I even said I didn't want a refund, just wanted it done right and that I would take it out myself and come back tomorrow to do it over if it was more convenient. I did not want any problems, just solutions. She refused to accommodate me and said my only option was to 1. Finish the heavy style or 2. Leave with it half done and get back $100. Not to mention, she yelled at me, cursed me out, and hung up the phone. I was devastated. What I didn't understand is why would you agree to do a style if you couldn't deliver? Despite the horrendous attitude that was given by their boss, the ladies of the shop did my hair over for me and I couldn't be more grateful. I hope all the employees of this establishment start their own business because they are WAY more skilled than the actual owner. Thank you so much ladies and your integrity doesn't go unnoticed! As for Resie, you should humble yourself, you are a scammer and your disgusting customer service and ethics will not get you far. I won't be back. read more

BEFORE I GOT MY HAIR DONE I came in here at 10:40 on the dot, I had 2 people in front of me... I was told that it will be a one hour wait. It is now 3:09 I'm still not in the chair, it's extremely crowded. This place needs a bigger shop. And more workers. Don't get my wrong though the way these ladies do CORNROWS is wonderful but the wait is ridiculous. AFTER I GOT MY HAIR DONE I got my hair done and it came up to 220, my edges aren't done or anything... if I could've gave this place 0 stars best believe that I would have. read more

Don't go here... ‼ the "owner" is a waste of time. She did my hair in a style I did not even want. She lucky I didn't disrespect her in front of her shark teeth daughter.. if hair is not your passion go back to cosmetology school . The Shop is dirty . Braider is dirty and all the "fly shit " she wear look fake... you ain't ever touching my hair again until you learn the difference between knotless small, medium and large. Dummy read more

I booked an appointment 3 weeks in advance with Oresia to have my hair braided. Prior to my appointment I confirmed with Oresia a 1pm appointment on a Saturday. I arrived on time for my confirmed 1pm appointment. I walked in & it was standing room only. I walked up to her & informed her that I had a 1pm appointment with her. Oresia then informed me that I had to wait to be seen even with a confirmed appointment. I clarified with her that even though I have a confirmed 1pm appointment to see you. I still have to wait as if I am a walk-in. There were approximately 13 women ahead of me when I saw her waitlist. She said yes, even though I have an appointment I will have to wait as if I was a walk-in. I was completely mad (not the word I really want to use) at this point, but considering it's a Saturday, at 1pm, I had a flight in the morning. I didn't have much of a choice. I was her last appointment that day (after waiting 5 hours). When I finally sat in her chair, she rushed thru my hair (5 straight back braids), pulling & tugging on my natural hair extremely hard, so hard I had to use my own hand to fight the tension (asking her to not pull so hard didn't help either). Because she was in such a rush to get out the shop my hair was sloppy, some of my natural hair was sticking out the braids, she sewed the braids together in the back of my head with a single strand of thread, but one braid was left out on the right side of my head (how does that happen). Her job was SO sloppy even my husband noticed ALL the mistakes she made. Needless to say, my hair did not last a week. I should have listened to the other reviewers on this shop. I would have saved myself the grief, the travel time, wait time, & money NOT WELL Spent. As a business owner/stylist how can you allow yourself to take another persons hard earned money and you don't want to put in QUALITY work as a professional. read more

I came across the RESIE Braids via instagram. She had a post up accepting walk ins. She was very unwelcoming and spoke to me in an unprofessional tone. Refuse to start my hair unless I took off my jacket and placed my bags across the room. I had to tell her it was my shirt and I will of course not be removing it and I will keep my bag with me. I asked for medium knotless and received jumbo. She rushed through my hair pulling and tugging at my natural hair. The shop was dirty and she did not wear a mask. I now see why she has availability for walk ins everyday. Her attitude and unprofessional demeanor towards her clients, shows in her lack of clientele. read more

If I could give this 0 stars I would. Resie did my braids they were sloppy and started to come out within the first week. It's started to look poofy and unravel. I had an appointment for 11 am and she didn't start my hair until close to 3p! She was doing people hair that walked in after me. I would never go to her again. I have to look for another braided. You have been warned. read more

The owner is very unprofessional and nasty. You wait long and they barely wear there mask.

Just really unprofessional. After trying to get in contact with Oresia for a week I was finally able to make an appointment. I called ahead to say I was running 20 mins late. Ok, I got there and she was working on another client, it's to be expected. What I didn't expect is to have to wait for 8 other people to go ahead of me. Little did I know she promoted on her Instagram that she was taking walk ins within a certain time frame. Now I understand everyone's trying to make their money, but if you have an appointment with a client, they should come first. Then on top of that it was dirty in there. Hair and trash everywhere two girls doing hair and a third just standing there doing pretty much nothing. I left and never turned back. The styles look nice but It's deff not worth the headache. read more

Oresia is terrible, only braid your nicely if she feels like it. Very selfish and inconsiderate. Be prepared to sit and wait all day.

I would first like to say that this review has nothing to do with the shop owner and everything to do with Oresia. I have never met someone so unprofessional in my life. Oresia is extremely hard to get in contact with. After texting and calling to no avail I gave up. Now see, her work is remarkable and I was extremely adamant about getting it done. After hounding the phone for hours I finally got through to her. She told me that I should walk in and she would take care of my needs. I drove all the way from Long Island to Brooklyn. Upon my arrival there were 4 people ahead of me. I sat in her salon patiently for 3 hours watching everyone's hair get done. My friend and I waited until finally we were called. Now at this point Oresia had finished her clients and stated that her assistant would be doing both my hair and my friends. I sat back and thought to myself wouldn't it be quicker to divide the work so we can get out of here faster? Never the less Oresia had quoted me a price for my particular style. After waiting 3 hours you guys her assistant tells me that my style requires an appointment and she will not be able to do it. Can we talk about livid!!!! I sat in a roach infested salon for 3 hours and you can't provide my service ?!? How unreal is that?!? I stated to Oresia how unprofessional I thought she was to which she answered "Don't Come Back" and ladies and gentlemen I turned around and never looked back. There are too many other talented people who can do these particular styles for me to sit back and allow Oresia a true hood bugger to disrespect me and try to bring me down to her level of grime and filth. Absolutely the most unprofessional encounter I have had thus far. If you like to be disrespected and have your time wasted this is the establishment for you. read more

I am truly hoping that someone reads this review because it's important. We are in the instagram culture now where all these stylist have to do is post a few pictures with slayed edges and and women fall for it, making appointments in droves! Oresia CAN NOT braid. She does not braid neatly. She does not braid your hair for it to last. Her prices for what she does are ridiculous. She charges what she does based on the fact that she's an Instagram stylist and not an "African hair braider" she is rough and pulls and tugs in your hair. She will book an appointment with you and forget that same appointment when you walk in. It's not her shop but the shop is filthy and she also looks filthy. Don't believe the Instagram hype she looks a mess and also looks completely different from her photos. She had someone there named Yvette and she actually does hair better, there was another lighter skin toned girl there who did box braids and she braids better. She seems to not have them there often to save the money for herself. Oresia used a lot of shine and jam which will make your scalp itchy. You have been warned. read more
